I have listened to a wide range of music genres. DSO has always been my favorite, 3 years and more to come! I love them and can't wait for Pandora's Piñata!!!
I'd say Mr. Bungle did it first, but it's nice to see a band focus on just two styles (swing jazz and metal) as opposed to whatever Mr. Bungle did (90 genres at once).
For the first seconds I thought i was hearing a remake to Swing Swing Swing... Then... I heard musical artistry.... Some blend about as creative... My ears are still in shock. xD I love this!!
@Sirolfusable Nothing happens. I like every genre except reggeaton and rap but just make sure the compositions are amazing and the mesagge isn't crap. :) Live. Not everything is metal.
Anyone reminded of "Hey Panchuco" from the Mask? It's got that same sorta upbeat rhythm to it. AMAZING. it's so hard to come across music like this nowadays.
Damn is this hard to dance to,great workout though. It was my dad who got me hooked.Im doing this for my visual solo in Glee mixed with Iris by the GooGoo dolls. It makes for a bad-ass combination.
Ok, a friend broad me here, I won't bitch. I like it; sounds like nothing I've heard before and it's freaking great. But "swing+metal"?? People call it metal just because it's got its guitars with distorsion? Cooome on.
@Lightningspiner I get what you mean! I got a deja vu moment when I was listening to the beginning...To me, Sing Sing Sing is my idea and definition of jazz and swing in general :D
@XxjackassxX676 in fact... It isn't "true root bloody metal".... That's something that has evolved partly thanks to metal music, and is generally categorized as "avant garde metal"....
Even if i prefer calling it "hard jazz" (like when rock went to hard rock to go to metal)
not that this is bad, but can someone explain where the metal is in this? im not like a metal elitist or anything (you know, the people that dont think lamb of god is metal enough), but i honestly dont hear a guitar in there, and if there is one its buried in the mix. i like it, dont get me wrong, but where's the metal, or even rock?
Well if you listen to more of their songs you might understand why they are considered a metal band...although considering their genre, they could be rapping and still be considered real metal. Diablo Swing Orchestra is avant-garde metal, which is VERY experimental, and not in the progmetal way a-la Dream Theater...it's difficult to explain. Listen to Unexpect for example, great band, or even Faith No More, one of the creators of the genre.
@DarthBleh Avant-Garde is the truly artistic side of metal, taking the genre to places it never thought possible. With it's roots going all the way back to 1972 with a little known spanish band called Nu, it has evolved from a band that sounded like Sir Lord Baltimore with extra instruments and random tempo changes into what it is now, a diverse and varied genre where no two bands sound alike.
@MM2011RHP they are part metal you can just listen to a different song and you can easily spot the guitar you know there is more than one song to base your opinion off of.
Could imagen alot of Hellish atmosphere! With Lots of fire! The Character singing would be a mix between Hades from Hercule and and Doctor Facilier from The Princess and the frog.
This was fun. Hard to study when you've got to get up every ten seconds to dance along with it though. Made me feel like I was a secret agent with some seriously awesome background music.
@OrDog696 This is apparently mixing the two genres, which I think I hear...I mean, there's definitely some distorted guitar there, but if that's enough to call something metal in any way, idk....

I was at a swing dance last Friday (danced with four incredibly hot girls, good times). I'm thinking about calling one up and dancing to this song while headbanging. Should be awesome.
The only "swing' metal I'd really ever heard prior was Guitar God Michela Lee Firkinns version of The Mooch' by Duke Ellington way back in the early 90s
