Actually John Pemberton invented it in 1886 - and died two years later. From Wikipedia, "In April 1865, Pemberton was wounded in the Battle of Columbus, Georgia" and was looking to "invent" a pain killer. Coca-Cola was more or less the end result. I've always considered Eve Graham (the first person seen in this video) to be a hottie. Check her website. She still is hot and still can sing.
I remember when they did the reunion commercial back in the 1990's. The singers brought their kids with them. Gave me goosebumps. It used to be on here, but I don't know whether it is any more.
@theshortladders a remake of this commercial would be hip hop. It would be shot in a club with a DJ scratchin this tune on a record and all the partygoer would be grinding their bodies.
i remember this well, in fact people loved the song so much, that led to the slightly changed song...of course...i'd like to teach the world to sing. many people think the commercial was based on the song, it was actually vice versa...
I noticed something familiar in the landscape, the broccoli-shaped pines and stuff. Then I read "on a hilltop in Italy" at the and... if it is Formello, as some argue on the Internet, well... it's less than 20 km from my hometown, yuh! ^.^
I was 10 that year and believe me, this commercial was so popular that almost every kid in Canada and the US at the time knew it by heart. This is the first time I've seen this again in almost 39 years in its intirety! Many great memories of those times!
Keep the consumers feeling like a drink will make them a part of something. Yes, alienate them in society and then feed them this poison...with some goofy patriotism or racial integration subliminals, nice work fucktards!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually this is more hippy bullshit, join hands and the world will be just ducky kind of crap. This kind of moronic thinking ,starting in the 60's is why the wheels came off America
oh i remember this! good memories.i remember singing this song with my glass bottle of coke hehehehe.
hey,is it just me or do they all look like a giant slice of pizza at the end?subliminal message maybe that coke goes great with pizza?i dont know just throwing that out there lol.
a Confederate soldier from the deep south of the United States, who was wounded during the American Civil War, actually invented Coca-cola. It is more famous than McDonalds, blue jeans, and Mikey mouse.
Hahaha! World domination of Coke! And they made this commercial to boast their success! So much for the local markets of those countries, Coke has taken over their soft drink markets... Now it's a "perfect harmony" of the giant Coke machine! Create cheap labor to make the unhealthy drink, then sell it back to the poor folks that made it! Walmart may be China's revenge for this act! LOL!
dont go that far , ritalin cocaine taffil prozac and other shrink drugs are used by millions thinking this will help their mental problems , instead all they do is kill their conciousness you see people getting killed by electric shocks to the brain in a suppossed helping treatment and nobody seems to be aware of this

I remember having to sing this stupid song in Kindergarten.
MondoBeno 1 year ago
@MondoBeno You sang this song in kindergarten? That you'd like to buy the world some Coke? LOL.
UglySean 5 months ago
@UglySean The words "like to buy the world a Coke" were replaced with "I'd like to hold it in my arms."
I didn't learn about the song being used for a Coke ad until I was a teenager. Then I didn't see the commercial until youtube came along.
The teacher I had in Kindegarten was a real asshole. There's something about ex-hippies that I never liked. They were always nasty.

the reason they look healthy?..it's 1971 no ipods computers, people went outside and did things!!

Reason they look healthy is because they're not drinking that pi55 water !

Speaking of retro and soda - Shasta's back with commercials for the first time since the 80s.
Check out a sneak peek of the new spot "Heads up Shasta" here on YT.

Yeah, as soon as they start putting cane sugar back into it.
Today's Coca-cola is NO classic.
tuttt99 2 years ago 18
I absolutely agree. Have you noticed they put ORIGINAL RECIPE on the cans?! It's outrageous, and false advertisement!
xmournerslament 2 years ago
@tuttt99 then we should lobby our government to remove sugar tariffs to make sugar a more affordable ingredient.

Pepsi is better now. Coke just doesn't seem strong enough to me.

I prefer Dr. Pepper. Coke is way to carbonate and corn syrupy. I wish the companies would go back to sugar cane.
AeroJunkie20 3 years ago
naw, they need to go back to putting coke in it.

I live in Texas and Mexican Coke (cane sugar sweetened) is readily available at the Hispanic markets.
I can't even drink the domestic stuff anymore.
