Normally i don't like remodels, but the Duke HRP is...pretty good. What i don't get is a game like doom which has a large following today has some of the worst custom models around but Duke actually attracts good modelers. I guess because, well, he's duke.

Duke3D is a great game, and it seems like DNF is staying true to it's roots, and its PC origins unlike most shit.

Also if you knew what you were talking about you would know that Eduke32 runs Polymer which takes a number of graphic features that are in DOOM 3. the loading times are long the first time you load the game. after that it loads quick.  the first run it pre-caches the textures for your video card.

It takes so long to load because the engine has to load a ton of ridiculously large textures. Most are 512*512 or some dimension of 512*x or x*512 which takes a ton of memory. There isn't any texture compression to speak of so it will naturally take forever to precache the resources. if you have a fairly decent computer, you shouldn't take much of a hit.

You can't see it because the video is so blurry, but the new textures are obscenely high resolution. Beyond even the most modern games in fact, because the engine doesn't have to deal with nearly as much geometric detail.

It looks absolutely great running in 1600*1200.
