I saw this video today in health class and it made me cry. I was the only one in the entire class actually watching this video because the teacher was out and the class went besurk. (And every image and fact made me cringe and broke my heart.) It was a moment of "wow, you are all gonna end up like this in 10 years and I'm gonna be the smart, healthy, and successful one because I paid attention." This video is beautiful<3
And yet, the ones who are being continuously charged are usually older. They usually have more than once been charged. Even after they have killed someone, the government still gives them back their license.
being a teenager myself, I know it's easy to laugh when others are lecturing us about alchol and drug abuse... I'd laugh it off whenever my parents got on my ass about my drinking, because I said I was fine and was just having some fun
well about 6 or 7 months ago or so, some news hit me real hard... it was like being punched in your gut. a boy I had been dating and one of his friends died from serious head trauma from drinking and driving. it opened my eyes, and i'm still trying to accept it
ok. i would say drinking is nessasary to have fun at a party. i perfer marijuana because u can conroll it, alcohal u cant. but i get a little bussed at parties. and smoke....ALOT! ha
to closstown1. some life you have is that all you've got to do get drunk you're heading towards alcoholism look at the majority of comments about drinking. i think it's fair to say that drinking and drugs will ruin your life sooner or later.
im only thirteen and today was the first time i ever got drunk i had about 5 shots and passed out and my parents or anyone never found out i only told some friends and they were the ones who wre there with me
i watched the "Teen Depression & Suicide" one first but couldnt comment... last year i was diagnosted with major depression after a failed suicide attempt.. but before i got help i would often drink and do drugs to "make me feel better", i relize now that it was all a mistake.. and now i try everything in my power to keep my friends sober... and it also took a friend to pass for me to know it was time to stop..
i thank u for these vids and will show my friends. :)
Thanx for the vid great job. When i was a teenager i had a drinking problem. I wanted to fit in and be cool, but i got out of control.I quit drinking for 4 years now i just have a couple every now and then.
My friend drinks and she's turning 15 this summer...She also raves and does ectasy...I know she drives around with her drunk boyfriend...We arn't that close anymore...I drifted away from her...I just fear she is going to die from a crash or alcohol period
well the whole thing about the arresting kids like 10 years old.. umm 10 year olds shouldnt be driving period.. i mean if they are learning with parents thats ok.. but by themselfs and drunk.. bad choice.. and wtf.. where do u get the idea of 10 year olds driving by themselves??? are u crazy??
i'm writing an informative speech about teenage alcoholism, and i can't start out my speech no matter how much i squeeze my brain. with this video i had so much information to put in my speech, informations that are not in medical terms but in terms that everyone can understand easily.
once the car driving right in front of us(my family) got driven flat(the ppl inside all died instantly) by a drunk teen in a big car(who didn't even have a drivers licence) .. i realised then how close it is. it isn't just something that's in the papers. it can be your friends or yourself.
My sisters BF has a DUI and lost his Driving rights, car plates, went to jail, paid fines and now has a record. He says it was stupid of him to do this. Just remember it could be loosing your car or life for something like drinking and driving
Thank you for this video. I feel this way about one of my very close friends, but they make it seem like I'm the one in the wrong. Since when is alcohol necessary to have fun at a party?
thanks for making this vid. i wish people would see how pointless this is, it's not supposed to be used as a party enhancer. drinking, for me, is pointless.
and drunk people scare me.. my mom almost got run over by one and i watched it happen
THANK YOU!! I totally agree. Im 16 and i drink every now and then. Its not bad if you know your limits and you don't act like an idiot while your drinking. As long as your mature i think its ok.
In Europe, they have no drinking age whatsoever, and there are fewer drunk driving cases there than there are in the US. I think teens drink mainly to rebel, so if the thrill of rebellion is taken away, maybe they wouldn't.
I can assure you there are strict drinking age laws here in the UK at least, and the whole myth of "responsible drinking" from an early age isn't true.
I'm from germany and we have a drinking age- When we turn sixteen we can legally go to nightclubs and buy beer, wine and champagne, when we are 18 we can buy everything else. But we aren't allowed to drive before we are 18. But it's more than easy to get alcohol with like 14 years. And we don't drink to rebel, we just want to have fun ! I have a few friends
which even had alcohol intoxications, and thats definitely not cool - By the way, I'm sixteen.
i think i've been misinformed. I've heard from many people that have visitied and lived in many different European countries that there is no drinking age. I'm not saying that I disbelieve you at all though; I'm just saying that this is strange. I'm not sure what to believe. I know both of you live in Europe, but so do/did some of the people I've spoken with and know very well. I'm sorry for posting that though if I'm incorrect.
why are people so silly to drinkand drive? they nearly killed my cousine. A drunk driver went into him, he didnt have a scratch on him, but my cousin was in hospital and could of died! he is okay now! good vid! x
Some teens are always complaining that they should be able to have some beer once in a while. "#1 cause of death" says it would be a pretty mess up world if it happens. If you want to drink some booze don't be so damn irresponsible. Maybe when you stop killing innocent people you could get your bottle of beer.
Alcohol is always an issue we don't want to deal with, especially when we are kids. Is hard for teens to stand up to their own friends or to go against the "cool way of living." This video has a great message. The fact that it comes from one of us makes it even better, to understand and to follow.
I don't find it hard to go against the "cool way of living." And I know lots of people who don't find it hard, either.
I don't think peer pressure is as common as everyone says it is, or as impossible to fight against. Maybe I'm just lucky because I don't really know anyone who pressures anyone to do anything.
I think it depends on how you were raised too. I didn't face it much because I had parents who accepted me for who I was; however, my friends that had the hardest time with it were those whose parents wanted them to fit into this perfect little mold. I don't know if this is true, but it makes sense to me. If you've always had low self-esteem, you're going to try anything you can to be accepted by at least one person.
Nice job. This is an important issue that needs to be dealt with, and youtube is a pretty good forum that reaches a teenage audience.
However, let's not forget that overage, moderate drinking is not generally detrimental to a person's physical or emotional health. I realize that your video focuses on teenage alcohol abuse, but let's not villanize alcohol more than it deserves to be villanized.
Ive lost 2 friends in a drinking & driving accident and all becaue they didnt realize that there was someone walking across the street the ones walking across the street were my best friends everytime i see someone drunk i prayto god that they will stay safe and not drive or somthing like that my friends were only 14 and 15 they died last year now you see 2 white crosses on the sid of the road
im 17 years old...alcohol is great...i come from a german family and alcohol is in the heritage...drunk drivers can be deadly...but what about all the people that smoke weed, crack and then the others who pop an pain pills and drive...it should be a fair game..not just against alcohol
its because alcohol is the most abused drug in the united states. that why there is so much focus on it. in my mind we dont focus enough and punishments are severe enough
um ... imo u are not very bright if you drink alcohol to be "cool". and if ur not a moron you dont bring ur car in the first place if u plan to drink.
There was a guy in my high school who was rollerblading and was hit by a drunk driver, he was lucky but he has a learning disability and short term memory loss 4 yrs. later.
A neighborhood friend who was only around 8 or not even that went on a motorcycle ride with her neighbor when they were hit by a drunk driver. She didnt make it...Don't let pain like this happen to people you love. Thank you for the video. People dont realize a single moment, a single second can not only mark their life forever but wreck somebody elses. Whether its a kid, their best friend, their mom, a random person....
Also, before I get any hate, I just want to say that the people that weren't paying attention were in 8th grade and already/still are drinking.
