Definitely the best Fiordiligi, but I feel it's very nearly ruined by the decision to intersperse the thing with interruptions from Dorabella. Really embarrassing. If you just watch the other sister it's like a private joke. Or possibly it's meant to look like sisterly bickering -- making a mockery of the scene and putting a bit of a sinister spin on the whole play. (I.e. the message goes from 'women are frail' to 'women make dicers' oaths and know it all along'.)
I agree with you: the interventions from Dorabella, and especially her facial expressions. Very beautifully sung, though... and the slap sounded olike a real one. Ouch!
This is some fine singing. The tempo is right, her voice is right, I absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed her characterization. Wonderful! Thanks for posting.
She was the first Fiordiligi I ever saw. This whole production is just spectacular. Each person is so well suited to their role. I did this aria at a concert recently (posted on youtube) and its SO much harder than it looks. And it looks really hard! She makes it look like a piece of cake, though.
One of the best performances of this Mozartian jewel on DVD..starting from lovely sets, warm, enthusiastic conducting from Sir Gardiner to one of the best casts that ever came together for this opera...Roocroft,Mannion,Trost(no doubt, the finest Ferrando) and Gilfry combine youthful ardour with mature singing...SUBLIME.
And thumbs up to James' Despina..hardly seen one with a sparkling tone and vigour as hers...
AWESOME

I totally "borrowed" some of her embellishments too. :) They seemed the best of all the versions I've heard.
