  • There can only be one Genius

  • what did hiphop mean to you? EVERYTHING!!!

    WORD UP!!!

  • @SheerHeartAttack74 right same thing i said . .

  • "we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give" at 10:11 is quote from Winston Churchill gza should have sighted it..but it's an awesome quote none the less...

  • GENIUS.. there willl never be another!

  • OMG I HAVE THAT JACKET HE'S WEARING!

  • @ImSpiFF OMG YOUR SO COOL!

  • yo everything he says is 100% true....back in the day that he was talking about no rapper hated another for the way they rapped

  • if any rapper deserves to brag about their greatness and achievements, GZAs that rapper. It just makes him so much more respectable to see how level headed and humble he is, as opposed to all the wack rappers that brag themselves up as if they were as good as the genius is.

  • u know wats funny about this interview. hes reading off written shit. hahahha. i could sit with gza and interview him off the top of my head and everybody would love it.

  • @SADMANMUSIC35 well aren't you cool? lol. this guy clearly wanted to remember everything and take full advantage of the opportunity and give people a great interview.

  • @666flatliner Actually blacks are not even considered a minority in Canada.

  • Wu to u!

  • canada? he's probably never seen more white folks in one spot at one time....lol

  • Comment removed

  • I seen him perform Liquid Swords in Glasgow...Total legend !

  • GZA IS A FATHER FIGURE TO ME

  • interviewer should learn to memorise shit, reading off a card all the time really suggests he doesn't know anything about GZA or the Wu

  • anybody know the book that the chess story was from? im really intrigued and i feel compelled to read it now

  • @KamalRB Its a classic mathematical problem exponding on exponential sequences. The story varies by culture as most fables do. Consequently the answer is 18,446,744,073,709,551,615

  • This guy is the man, and humble that smile at 1:11 is just priceless

  • 10:10 powerful

  • finally, an interviewer treating a godly mc like a godly mc...fucking hate most of these rap interviews where respect is never paid

  • Just saw him in Winnipeg on tuesday. shit was dope.

  • hes coming to my town you think he will play liquid swords ish

  • @electronicchronic count on it, i'm seeing him tonight in Edmonton. Last time he was here he played most of the album.

  • @lagr1ppe waaaaaaa thatas amazing

    hav a good time

  • uhhh gas much??? lol

  • uhhh gas much???

  • Strategic games, eh? It's a shame GZA doesn't play Street Fighter. I wouldn't mind hearing "I'm downright fierce like a hadouken"

  • I remember 1992 i was in college in NC i met some NY cats this was when bobbito and other dj's was rocking.Christmas break came gave him some tapes to dub for me he comes back i hear ptyn the rest is history.

  • One of the best artists of all time. Well spoken.

  • i have lot of fav. MC's but GZA is deff. in my top 10 out of 50

  • 24,000 views,What a joke,These kids today are mainstream meatheads

  • There wasnt and never will be anything like Wu Tang music

  • GZA/Genius

  • Thanks for being a complex, intelligent and convicted lyrical philosopher in the midst of such mediocrity.

  • jizza 0.o? i always thought it was just G-Z-A

  • Today's rappers lyrics are weak.. like clock radio speakers!

  • I would love to sit down with him and pick his brain. He seems like the guy you could run into and shoot the shit for hours with....and toke one up.

  • That asian guy 19:56 ... thats me if i were to ever meet GZA

  • @SamuraiMC18 i would be worse

  • it wasn't even a challenge

  • 3 people must b suckin lil waynes dick

  • that's my uncle right there!

  • Shit,he's the best rapper in the business right now and he still looks like the best dude to hang around with. You just gotta love the genius

  • diggin the churchill quote

  • look at the audience......its not a smack dvd interview or something like this ..this interview was serious very great and intelligent .....

  • listening to Liquid Swords for the first time, was better than losing my virginity. so was my first hit of chronic, but Gza the Genius is the greatest MC of all time. nuff said!

    RIP Guru

  • Another great interview of another fantastic artist courtesy of Jian Ghomeshi

  • this interviewer doesnt know shit about wutang lol had to read the intro what a fag

  • why would they get such a whiteboy to interview gza..

  • @hellfire2go WHITEPOWER

  • @hellfire2go who cares if he is white? judging by the type of questions he is asking the genius you can tell he knows exactly what he is talking about. This is an intelligent interview

  • @NaS023 hes asking gza stupid fuckin trivia shit every tru wu head already knows. even look at the mans face he wants to punch that whiteboy fag in the nose half the video

  • @hellfire2go Ihear where your coming from. I guess the only thing I can say is that true 'wu heads' like you and I may already know about genius and the rest of the clan, but the questions were designed for those who dont know; judging by the present audience.

  • @hellfire2go Don't put words in GZA's mouth you faggot.

  • @0rcryst just fuckin look at the video. hes asking stupid questions. im not putting words in his mouth u dumb ass. im saying the guy was asking stupid shit.

  • @hellfire2go You're not? I could've sworn you said "Look at GZA's expression, he looks like he wants to punch that faggot white boy." What the fuck are you talking about? That's the same expression he has in every interview.

  • @0rcryst honestly shut the fuck up bro you have no idea what ur talking about. ur just being an annoying little cock loving fagot.

  • @hellfire2go Learn to type above a 4th grade level and do something about your fetish for pulling things out of your ass. Then again, vegetables don't last long enough to make it to 4th grade so I suppose you aren't culpable.

  • @0rcryst hahaha. your honestly some bitch motherfucker. nothing you say over the internet has weight. so go ahead and continue being a smug little faggot.

  • @hellfire2go I don't understand. It's the internet so you suddenly talk and act like you haven't been past the fourth grade? I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. On a comment board, your word and your logic are all you have. When you use them poorly, as you have, all people will see is what an idiot you are. It really doesn't matter whether or not you want to hear it, people are going to remind you until you can't take it anymore. Calling you stupid doesn't make me smug it makes me honest. Deal.

  • The genius is deep: "The best way of winning is without fighting"

  • Excellent interview but Pro Tools was Gza's sixth solo album, not fifth.

  • @ninjacheckmate fifth not counting grandmasters

  • Oh, and fuck Google ads with the overpowered sound bursting in my speakers everytime i check some legendary artist shit. damn

  • GZA=LEGEND!best all from Romania!

  • lol, i feel like for the first minute and few seconds GZA's like, "shut the fuck up now, you're talking tooo much shit you don't seem to know about, take your fucking eyes off the sheet man..."

  • wu clansmen are intellectuals, hip-hop gods

it's a great pity that hip-hop degraded to the state that it is in now

and when someone refers to hip-hop as to a culture, in majority they refer to faggot rappers like, say, lil wayne or whatever not to RZA, GZA, etc

and wu tang is on another mental level

  • what's interesting is that when it comes to wu-tang, the most intelligent, comprehensive interviews are usually given by foreigners. this interviewer is a pro. i've seen too many american interviewers who don't even know what to say to or about wu-tang.....thats been the history of wu-tang.....always getting more love outside the states than they do within........greatest hip hop group of all time damnit....

  • He is so humble, I really respect that. A lot of rappers nowadays like to promote them selves, and always rapping about how rich they are, how many hoe's they are banging at the same time. Rappers like that are very mainstream, and that's why I think the Wu Tang Clan, particularly "GZA:The Genius", are so popular, and the fans would almost every time agree with that.

  • this guy really is a genius and like all supremely talented people he's incredibly humble and down to earth.all these fucking celebrities famous for doing fuck all..on the front cover of magazines..not one fucking braincell btween them..this fella is for real..his body of work will live forever and inspire people all over the world forever..nice vid..i didnt want it to end..fascinating stuff

  • On point.

  • These days it is very rare that a lyricist comes close to the skill and depth that the Gza has given the hip hip world. From early RUN DMC to Blackalicious, The Gza is easily my favourite MC and this interview only deepens my respect for the man. One love.

  • AHAHAHA the look on GZAs face for the 1st min. "c'mon man keep suucckkkkkiiiinnnnnn my dick"

    GZA / WU TANG forever

    R.I.P Hip Hop

  • I didn't understand the Grains of Wheat story. Lol

  • @PicklezTF Chessboard has 64 squares. He asked for the king to put 1 grain of wheat on the first square, then double it on the next square, so the second one would have 2, the third one 4, the fourth one 8, fifth 16, sixth 32 and so on. When you get to the 64th square the number will be really big.

  • @Tuubiomg what are you talking about man?

  • why is my f5 not working ? it just restarted the commercial ?! anyone having the prob ?

  • @elevenmatrixeleven they countered it -cries-

  • You can kinda tell right at the beginning that gza is nervous. But he becomes more comfortable once he gets a good response from the crowd.

  • what the chinese guy said about listening to music 5 years later is true

  • i'm 19 years old i immigrated to Canada from Ukraine when i was 11 this was around the time when hiphop was at it's worst and i didn't get tuned in to it i began searching hiphop on the internet and found lots of good hiphop music from one hiphop artist led to another i discovered wu-tang and so on most of their lyrics i can relate to i'm a true fan of hip-hop and a collectionist i own over 500 hip-hop cds i support real hip-hop

  • a true fan, if i ever saw one! remember, hip hop ain't dead as long as folks like us are around!

  • bill mothafuckin murray

  • dumb hoes in the audience laughin at shit they aint supposed to. get the fuck out, the GZA is speaking

  • all i gotta say is LIQUID SWORDSSSSSSSS

  • the GzA, so charismatic and intelligent. In comparison to I think many mc's today this guy just stands out amongst them all. It's just his view on life and knowledge and attitude about hip hop is so inspiring, not speaking about the music it's talk about his persona. Talented rapper, who got his shit well together. A great addition to today's hip hop cos this guy still brings out records, and is a part of one of the best hip hop institutions.

  • no1 can mess with the gza's lyrics all respect due !

  • i cannot believe this dude interviewed The GZA ,The real G.O.A.T.

  • when he was talking about chess,i thought he was gonna say he was the chess king lol

  • genius...not guiness

  • Gza is the only member who keeps the Wu Tang Style Alive !!! Gza the Genius !!! ......

  • sub back?

  • such a good vid, thanks for postin this

  • mate awkard.. % gza is so tired...

  • im 15 and from the south. many people dont know much about real hip hop anymore. in the south its all about the beats and dancing, dont get me wrong there still are good lyrical rappers from the south and i do like some of the dance songs and shit but for the most part hip hop is gone and its pretty sad.

  • @tmgzzzzzz Whats up little homie. I like your statement. Im 41 love real hip hop and you are right, there are lyricist from the South, and the first name that comes to mind is Scarface. Once again , I have high admiration for you and Im glad to know that u recognize and appreciate real hip hop...PEACE

  • wu for fuckin ever

  • real brotha..

  • I peer tutored a grade 9 class at my school. There was a student who was completely on Lil Wayne's dick. I told him Lil Wayne was bad, and when he asked who my favourite rapper was, I said "The GZA". He asked, "Who?"

This is why the young generation sucks.

  • Good one

Seriously im the only one in my school who even has heard of Wu tang let alone a fan of them. Theres proberbly maybe a handful or more of teenage london citizens who are wu tang fans im serious

  • @RagapanD im 18 from london and wu tang is forever!!! lol i know what you mean, people have heard of them but dont listen to there stuff, i love wu tang!

  • @RagapanD

theres thousandsof wu tang fans in london idiot

  • Watch yo mouth. 18 here and i know what good rap is

  • Cant blame the young generation cause we were young too and Im 32 now. Me and You came from the golden era of Hip Hop like the mid 80's to the late 90's. But unfortunately its the Industry that is at fault. Thats why You who have been around longer have to show the young generation real Hip Hop and where it came from. So Just showed them.

  • @reborn183 Great answer.

  • @colourfilm And when you were in grade 9, some guy could've asked you the same thing about Rakim, and you'd probably say "who?"

You're getting old man. We all are, just don't forget what it's like to be young, they have their own music, vocab, and fashion. The Genius is a great rapper but I'm happy kids today don't listen to him, music needs to change. The young generation doesn't suck, you're just not a part of it. Geezer.

  • @Firstserger lol thats not necessarily true

i used to listen to wu-tang when i was in school and im 23

i know thats still 10 years ago, but most people were listening to the trash-rap like p-diddy and shit

its just people who know good music

  • @MrSmokinitup sigh, i guess not everything is always necessarily true, however as it were most kids listen to their generation and not the sounds which expired a decade previous. Some one is buying little wayne and it sure as shit ain't my grandparents.

  • @Firstserger no you miss my point

wu-tang was still going strong 10 years ago bro

wu-tang forever hadnt been out that long, all the killa beez were droppin albums

what im saying is at 13 i was able to differentiate between the commercial shit and real hiphop

its like now, the real emcees eg- papoose are still getting a lot of views, just nto as many as idiots like lil wayne, but thats always been the way it is and always will be

  • @colourfilm yea man they dont know anything theyre are alot of followers out there they go off what others say is good even when its not..agreed that gza is way better too hopefully the kid checked out gza and now is a fan and stopped lsitening to lil waynes bullshit

  • @colourfilm im that generation, but fuck, i roll ALL the old school way, fuck lil wayne, fuck eminem, fuck em all!

  • @colourfilm dude i was at college the other day and i told someone i had a G unit hoody only because it was nice and white dont worry about that but he asked me "so your into 50 cent i love his albums" i replied "fuck no give me some Raekwon and some GZA then we will see" ive not spoken to him much since lets just hope hes got his head down listening to some real shit

  • @colourfilm It's not their fault. Lame ass corporate rap has been shoved down their throats. It's not their fault they are a part of a shittier generation.

  • @colourfilm 36 Chambers was 17 years ago. What do you expect? 14 year olds have always had shitty taste anyway.

  • @misterbizzones thats a stereotype m 14 n i lissen 2 a shit load of wu tang, big l,old jay z, canibus, n big pun

  • @colourfilm Thats a pretty big generalization based off of one students response. I'm young and most of my friends listen to good music. Maybe your students are stupid

  • @colourfilm dude, im 26 and I know some Wayne fans older than me who never heard of KRS, doesnt suprise me

  • @colourfilm did u beat the shit outta the kid?

  • @colourfilm its 9th grade dumbass. Of course they dont know GZA. You dont have the right to judge people like that

  • @andthewinnerisJ

how old he may be is completely irrelevant. someone who's smart, and understands talent does so at any age.

  • @andthewinnerisJ

i knew who the gza was when i was 5

  • @colourfilm talk about it,some people i know tell me people nas and gza suck. And say the game is better.

  • @colourfilm

Then give him some better music, don't hate on him just because he doesn't know. How is supposed to have good tastes if he doesn't even know who GZA is?

  • @colourfilm

You should have chopped his head with a samurai sword.

  • awesome interview, this guy always has cool people on to talk to. but this one is one of if not the best interview period.

  • hahahaha that yellow bone is hilarious

  • GZA is a real nigga...Wu forever

  • @AfrikanGod1 a real nigga??

  • saw him last night and it was a good show. he stuck around and signed a bunch of autographs too.

  • "Lyrics are brainy & complex"

    Nah g, beyond that.

  • great interview!

  • hell yeah

  • The is Gza is from Brooklyn. Not Staten Island

  • and what do u listen to this fake ass commercial lil wayne gucci mane bullshit

shut your faggot ass up u dont know shit about real hip hop

  • fuck you.

  • you're worthless dude

  • GZA Faggot? daym, u dont know shit about hip hop

  • don't even address all the stupid people out there. they don't know greatness.

  • Wu Tang Changed my life!

  • Comment removed

  • God i would pay alot to see Gza and the rest of Wu in freestyle battles from back in the days

  • why isnt he on the radio?

  • GZA, best rapper ever.

  • GZA is the truth...

  • all u idiots on here dissing nas need to shut da fuck up. clearly you havent LISTENED to nas' albums properly. theres more to him than illmatic. untitled was great. both gza and nas are sick mc's.

  • forgott to write that GZA is the greatest for sure :)

  • comeon dont hat on nas or gza

hate on the bullshit faggots like lil wayne, soulja boy, 50 pennies......

  • comparing people wow really?

  • Whenever Gza/The Genius opens his mouth wisdom leaks out and when he raps it sprays out.

Who the fuck is Nas too him, a small nobody in his light.

  • nas made his own path. who the fuck are you to compare them

  • why? the fuck would you compare gza and nas

  • how the fuck could leave a stupid ass comment on youtube like that....huh?? excusme ???? my top 3 is nas gza and rakim.... . Nas is lyrically more intense compared to GZA by the way but you could compare them its not a disrespect.

  • i always thought it was my problem or my ignorance that i was stuck in the past, always listening and favoring the old hiphop and music; refusing to listen to the new shit on the radios. this video makes me feel a little better.

  • there's no problem at all. todays music just isn't anywhere near par!

  • My favorite rapper of all time, wu-tang forever, fuck lil wayne.

  • that last bit was ridiculously uncomfortable
