Well in theory the federal government can. But, such power is very limited, and it has never actually been tried.

@DesertFox111111 yep only in case of seriously inapropriate behaviour from the judge. Judges are protected to assure their independance and impartiality.

If it wasn't for the recommendation of Peter Hogg the constitutional authority, she would be a nobody today.
