Racism in the Gay Community

Thank god I ain't the only one who noticed that... I got some profiles on online dating site- I know SAAAD- But a lot of white men have things like " No black, Asian or Arab guys" "only white men... Sorry but keeping it real"

It's repulsive and it makes me think that we gays have a lot of sh** to clean up in our own community . What's even sadder is that Asian guys in most Asian countries are persecuted for being gay not to mention African and Arab men who live in countries that kill gays!

I think this issue is more complicated that being not attracted to certain race or ethnicity makiking a person racist. In fact, guys who prefer people of other races can have racially discriminatory feeling towards the group they prefer. I don't think it is as simple as having a preference. It is also society's stereotypes influencing our individual choices to accept or reject someone based in part on race.

Another incident to consider was the blantant abuse of blaming the black community for not voting for proposition 8. Proposition 8 was very much a Republican campaign strategy which dealt with evangical Christians which campaigned against the proposition. Those voters are sure to vote against the proposition excluding the number of voters in the black community. Black gays are not typically accepted in the black community and accounts for a small percentage of the gay community.

Gays have always been racist towards blacks. Its nothing new and not a trend but a reality based on a society which cateres to the white male. White male which happen to be gay were slave owners but it wasn't talked about in those days. There is absolutely nothing different about the straight community than gay but drag queens but even they are prejudices as hell. This world will end at the hands of a gay white male.

Being attracted to women and being attracted exclusively to white people(or any on group) are two, totally different things. Men, from each race, come in all kinds of shades, textures, shapes, etc. There is not one set trait. Just some traits are more focused than others. No matter what, a woman will always have lady parts. I can understand how you feel, but are you telling me that if there was a black guy, who just blew you away, you'd pass him by? Just 'cause he doesn't "fit"?

You can always choose your friends, but black voters played a key role in passing prop 8 in California where 70% of black people voted in favor while whites were split. This is pretty shameful if you ask me. Also only 10% of people who said they had no religion voted in favor of prop 8 which I think is also pretty revealing.

While this may be true far as many STRAIGHT BLACKS playing key role in prop 8 being favored, this has nothing to do with the racism that exist in the gay community by far which is also "shameful". Just like some blacks, the gays should also, "know better". Many gays can be just as racists, and even the castro, gay bars has a long history of discrimination towards non whites. Many non-white gays are alienated in both gay and straight world so when you think about it, they can be just as bad.

These so called "accepting" white males who infected him, then abandonded this young man when he contracted AIDS. This young Black male reached out the the white gay community, when he found that the Black community was not as accepting.

In my oppinion, the reason that racism exists withing the LGBT community is that in many African, Caribbean, Latin American or Middle Eastern countries, there is a great deal of hostility to homosexuality. The unfortunate thing about racism in the gay community is that it is alienating many minorities from the gay rights movement, and taking into account America's projected demographic shifts, this is a death sentence for the continued survival of the movement.

It is an unfortunate fact that I know someone of LGBT background who donated tens of thousands to CA Proposition 8 out of a personal vengeance to his constant rejection by the gay community. Hypocritical, but definitely raises issues.
