Reg was a natural bodybuilder. Arnie wanted to look like his hero, but later admitted he took steroids as it was the only way he could acheive similar results.
The amazing thing is he started out doing a 3x5 program 3 days a week. When wrestling is over I am going to do this for 6 weeks. If you want to be like Arnold, then you need to train like Arnold.
When I was 11 (long, long ago), I saw a pic of a 50something Reg Park doing a side chest pose. I still don't think I've seen a bigger, deeper chest. In his 50s, he looked more powerful and virile than all but a few BBs I had ever seen.
A few years ago, one of the 'muscle mags' had a current, (at the time), shot of Reg in a black leather motorcycle jacket with his arm around his wife. He had to be around 70, and looked like a big strong 40-something. It's sad that he's dead now, but he lived a great life.
The first of the truly modern bodybuilding stars: Tapered and tall like the incomparable Steve Reeves. / Deep & massive as an old-time strongman, but w/a small waist & graceful silhouette. / S T R O N G ! / There hasn't been a better or stronger natural bodybuilder since. Late 60s clips of middle-aged Reg posing w/young Arnold in the gym reveal Arnold's rounded pecs looking feminine compared to Reg's "gladiator plates".
there are people who would willing to compete in their 70's and 80's and I think they should do contests for them. I don't know if they have them or not.
Believe it or not but Mr Reg Park is my personal trainer at gym... He currently lives here in South Africa. I am honoured to train with him, He is the legend!!!
thank you for opening the first bb gym in the world in sacramento, ca my friend tony who also opened his own gym on el camino blvd would talk of you as he was once your training partner i used to work for tony and if my beligious catholic guilt did not exist i would have be a competetive bb in the 70=80s

Reg Park was natural. He ate like a horse and trained with heavy weights since age 16.

Even though the footage is rough, young Reg looks just like his pupil, Arnold Schwarzenegger (when Arnie was younger of course).
