  • mine is doing exactly the same thing!!! It sucks!!

  • I have the same problem no (12 Oct 2011), my HTC Legend suddenly the top most part of the screen stop responding (notification bar area) then the screen seemed as needs calibration.

    any help please !

  • because the touch screen dosent work when it laying down your got to hold you phone retard

  • @LOL89235 *facepalm* That has nothing to do with it.

  • @Haprog than how come that same thing happens to my sisters HTC legend 4g when she has it laying down and the same f*cking thing happens to my HTC EVO 4g

  • @LOL89235 the only retard i see here is you.

  • I've just started having the same problem!! I have 2.2 and have tried a factory reset, same issue :@:@

  • that happened to be.. i turned it off and turned it back on and it stopped doing that..

  • @MarvelousScape I had exactly the same problem until today. Hot weather and high humidity trigger touch screen issue. In my case it was hardware related. I changed the digitizer (that is the glass front of the screen, not the LCD itself) which did the deal. Parts are available on ebay for about 30 Euros. Instruction in disassembly are here: If you still have warranty on your phone let them deal with it! Good luck.

  • argh it doesnt let me post a link to the disassembly instructions that I found very helpful (better than the videos on youtube) You will have to fix the link by hand *dubdubdub* *dot* formymobile *dot* co *dot* uk *slash* htclegenddisassembly *dot* php

  • I have the same problem, most of the times it's when I grab the phone after sport. The sweat makes my phone unable to unlock. Also when the weather is hot, the phone wont work properly. It has something to do with substances and temperature. I hate this phone.

  • all i can say HARD REST/ FACTORY RESET. i did it to mine last night at it works like new. :)

  • @nat50866 I did a factory reset to it a couple of times but it didn't affect anything.

  • @Haprog

as in, it didn't help? that's weird, it should.

  • generally this kind of issue has to do with bad grounding when the phone is connected to a charger. Does it happen without being plugged in?

  • Got the same problem :s !

  • that's funny... my 1 year old htc legend still don't get that problem. maybe coz it has a screen protector

  • @koovah nope.... mine has a sceen protector and still has it. i think your htc was tamed and loves you. my htc isnt good to me anymore

  • It happened to mine. Try cleaning the screen. The dirt on your fingers or in your face (which you approximate where in a call, for example) could have been accumulated over the screen in a small layer which may be responsible for disturbing the capacitive properties of the screen, accumulating charges and simulating false clicks/pinches.

  • I have the same problem, Its already happened once and I sent it away, but since then my phone is pretty battered, not too bad, but for some reason the letters on the back of the phone have fallen off, If I sens it off im worried they wont fix it and Ill be without a phone for 2 weeks :/

  • actually just heard from them, the repair company said it was a software issue so that's why they did a software re-flash.

  • i have the same prob with my phone. did a hard reset which only solved the prob for 2 days. HTC said its prb a hardware issue so i sent it for repair. just got it bk today after sending it for repair, and all they did a flash reset. they couldnt reproduce the problem afterwards. guess they never figured out the problem, but will watch and see.

  • Should have got an iPhone.

  • I'TS GONE PSYCHIC!!!!

  • Have the same problem, sent if off to be repaired under warranty. Lets hope they fix it or offer me a new phone! It's impossible to live with.

  • you my friend...have a GHOST XD

  • this might b the sensors of screen.....same thing happened..first to my 5800 and then to htc legend....

  • @theorime42: thanks for risking it all, it was after ur post, i forced the service provider to change the touch pannel. hope u still have the waranty. happy new year 2011 :)

  • hi blondieyo1: mine is solved now... i got my touch pannel changed, and since it was under waranty it costed nothing.. my suggestion wud b this for all having this issue n under waranty.. happy new year 2011 :-)

  • same thing here, waited on Service Center for 1 f***ing month, finally it came back, normal, but the guy there told me they didn't know what was wrong, other guys said they changed 10 parts in the phone!!!! As for me, I have no idea what happened or what they did! Or was it actually the 1-month-holiday that fixed it (temporarily?!)

  • If i remove the battery and put it back the phone works just fine, but one problem persists that is with the notification bar, when i drag down my notification bar, what i see is the clock menu.

I do not think that 2.2 is gonna solve this because it has nothin to do with the software.

Has anyone found any solution to this darn thing??

  • @anupdas07 I have the exact same problem, it started today and i don't know whether it's worth doing a full reset or not.

Only slight difference is that my notification bar doesn't come down at all i just see the clock menu straight away. It normally works fine after i lock it and rub the screen with a cloth but i still can't get the notification bar down.

  • Hi have the exact same story... It is a hardware issue and i have contacted the service provider and as far as i think he himself is not sure what to do. He has asked me to call back this Wednesday as he has ordered the part he think is not working properly.

  • I've aproximatively the same bug. I try a 2.2 rom, and it doesn't solve the problem. I think it's hardware.

  • @theorime42 Yes I'm sure it's hardware related. I've figured out sometimes it helps to twist the phone just slightly by grabbing the top and bottom of the phone. But even that alone doesn't always help, though usually after twisting and rebooting it works ok again. Plain reboots don't always work.

  • @Haprog I've ust disassemble my phone, and maybe it is a problem with the touchscreen connector, because after remove and put it, the screen works better I think. I will tell you if I find smething

( Sorry for my bad english, i'm french )

  • hey m8, i can only say one thing. try wait until the 2.2 come out and see what happens, if that doesn't help then send it to a fix.

  • @kevinstampe Yeah. I've been waiting for the 2.2 update since it was announced for Legend by HTC, but I don't think it'll solve this problem since it seems to be hardware related because even a hard reset didn't solve it.
