  • love that ending ...kept the yanks guessing ...kudo's

  • Great Song, Great Band, crappy show

  • @Gtlgrid Letterman's been on TV for over 30 yrs...Obviously many ppl don't agree with you.

  • @Gtlgrid i agree with you....dave has gone radical politically to the left...sucks, but hey, that's what libs do

  • u r all good bnl fans. i wanted to tell myself it is still as good without sp. but the case is that any other band in the entire world can replace a voice with another except bnl. ed is an amazing talent. but you just cant come close to steven page with his voice. i still like them. they are still great. but i will always cherish that i have watched them live while steven was still in the band.

proof is break your heart live. watch it. no one else could come close.

  • the 2 posts should be reversed

  • Any way..they are a great band together, NOT only one person is the shit,,,,,

Ed and the band needs to realize WHAT they had ??

Good on Steve, out there hitting the road doing what he can to do his thing....

And does his reheaesal at 4 pm ,,,,,just to make sure everything is going to plan

he is and always be a true part of that band ...............in person or not....with them or not

    Just thinking out loud

  • Just saw Steve in Peterborough, this weekend he was great...asked him about this song, he looked at me and said " oh ya that was the last time we were on Letterman " He is a TRUE talant that is carray'ing on........It took everthing that I had,,, NOT to remind him of the Everly Brothers...........TOTAL magic TOGETHER

I hope Steve can know history and music enough to realize..........that every now and then MAGIC comes along......

" you tube only allaws a certain amount of text" Im at the limit

  • I don't know what's worse doing a liitle blow or putting out a children's album.

  • Just went to one of their concerts last weekend, it was AWESOME =D They're all such multi-talented muscisians that they're still great without steve (not that i don't miss him, cuz i do)

  • damm i miss him!

  • @inmylife10465 Pick up his solo album yet?

  • The piano solo is excellent. Kevin Hearn is definitely a whiz. I must say, I am a big fan of the new Barenaked Ladies.

  • people he didint get kicked out becase of coke he left to be a solo singer

  • Love the way u all slag steve off for a mistake (that was never proven to be true) and say that ur fans, if u were real fans u wud show ur support at times of need, not stab him in the back, 2faced cunts, all ov ya!!!

  • steven page looks a bit like seth rogen

  • the keyboard solo is fuckin killer

  • @PhillipShits Kevin Hearn is a world class musician....I'd bet he can play almost anything

  • sorry to hear stephen page is doing coke. robin williams once said "cocaine is god's way of saying you make too much money!" I saw BNL on their first american tour when they were young and poor and they were doing their first big cd. Of course they were great. It is sad to see stephen page great talent being diminished by cocaine.

  • Eds guitar was a bit out of tune. Still a good performance.

  • Yeah, just a little flat.

  • Stephen leaving the band is a HUGE loss. Can't stand it. Really disappointed.

  • It's 'Steven'.

  • @drumgroovy We all knew what he meant, no need to point it out.

  • @drumgroovy no big deal..

  • @dirkbag22 I can do better than Steven at this point, but I can't play or sing.....I only write.

Also, I sleep on a big pile of money

  • @dirkbag22 yeah! Stephen is my brother & he's definitely never been in BNL. haha

  • @dirkbag22 ya no him leaving the band did nothing to them they play the same if not better

  • @foekiller666 Nonsense.

  • @dirkbag22 i went to a show they did in fairbanks it was amazing they did not even need him they did all the songs like he was never even there (altho he was a part of the band and was a good singer but him leaveing did nothing to the bands playing ability)

  • @foekiller666 I've seen the band 23 times - saw them open for a nobody headliner at the Troubadour before anyone knew them in the States, and I've seen them rise to world wide superstars. That band is still great, but it was the magic between Steven and Ed that propelled the show. I feel very sorry for anyone who never saw the full band. It's just not even close.

  • @dirkbag22 i still dont agree with you on the fact you think it was a huge loss that he left thats all i need to say

  • @foekiller666 That's ok, you don't have to trust me. But it was. Like half the band left.

If you didn't see him sing live... wow.

  • Does anyone Have BNL performing "One Week" on Dave. It was STUPENDOUS!

  • yeah

that was the best performance ever

  • not my favorite song, not the best song (but thats my opinion) but one thing i know we all agree , barenaked ladies are awesome

  • Kevin should totally do synthy stuff like that more often.

  • like the piano solo too:)

  • loving this song nd love stevens voice

  • I love this performance. I didn't like the album version at first, and this is the version of the song that made me like the song. Really like the broken-down "don't give up" part after the keyboard solo. Way better than the album cut.

  • Steve's skinny from all that coke... Just being honest. Yes, in fact he did do coke.

  • Everybody knows that.

  • who hasn't ?

  • yeah most of us know this. :| doesn't stop the fact that the band is awsm :)

  • I thought the same. Points for looking on the bright side. :)

  • i love this song

  • sweet synthesizer bit

  • the guy with the reddish guitar is the voice of Captian Butch Flowers on Red vs Blue.

  • He is Captain Dynamic now.

  • Shift-Awesome

  • I just wonder how they came up with the name for their band.

  • Ed Robertson and Steven Page attended a Bob Dylan concert. Bored by the show, the two turned to amusing each other, pretending they were rock critics, inventing histories and comments about the Dylan band. They also made up various band names; one of which was "Barenaked Ladies".

    ---from Wikipedia

  • @Pepsifresh14 wait? ed robertson is in red vs. blue?

  • i think this is some of Steve's best singing, but i love howKev has done the song. I'm going to miss steve, but i think the fab 4 will be ok

  • I'm always amazed at how good these guys sound live.

  • So sad that Steve won't be around to sing this anymore. I guess they could hand it back to Kevin, but his vocal take just isn't the same. :(

  • why isnt steve gunna be around???? did he quit????

  • looks like it. quote from wikipedia:

"he left the band in 2009 to pursue a solo career."

    bummer.

  • They do, in fact, have Kev singing it now, as evidenced by the videos from the Universal gig last weekend. They took the key down a whole step (from A to G) as well. It's different, but still enjoyable.

  • is there anything tht is not live!!??!?! i wannah listen to if i had a million dollars clearly !! lol

  • this is fantastic

  • they are always so spot on! I don't know how they do it!

  • Because they're actually great musicians that don't need studio effects to sound good.

  • A) I love the shapes of Steve's lips.

    B) I wish he wasn't so skinny these days =(

  • whats the name of this song? I know it, but cant put my finger on it....

  • The Sound Of Your Voice. It's in the info section...

  • this performance is awesome

  • gotta love ed's head bob

  • i love this song

  • Bottom line: What other band spots FOUR part vocal harmony BEHIND an already perfect lead singer? Always underrated...never duplicated! BNL! (I was there in the 10th row back in spring of '07 at Letterman)

  • check out Tally Hall, they come pretty damn close

  • you are 100% correct.

  • Lol. what was with the volume drop in the middle? Did the people think it was over? =P

  • Yeah I think the show's soundguys probably thought the song was over. Apparently they didn't rehearse the show.

  • I'm just thinking...

Can any of the barenaked ladies ever win American Idol?

I'm just saying, they have awsome voices and stuff...but if they ever did enter it, will they win?

  • who gives a rats ass? american idol? are u serious..kareoke..101..

  • No, that would be impossible seeing as they're Canadian.

  • Who cares? I love their work no matter what they win!

  • they DO have CANADIAN IDOL, and it all started in UK as POP IDOL. I'm pretty sure they can't try out any way as a- they're too old (age limits on show), and b- they have had real recording contracts for the last 20 years.

  • The way these tv talent shows are run, Paul McCartney or Mick Jagger wouldn't get near the final but The Jonas Brothers would. Which says more about the judging panel than the participants.

  • I actually agree with you. They look for the 'whole package', which is something mass-friendly and all ready to be promoted.

But so far, most of their efforts have backfired (Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, blablabla)

  • Steve's good but Ed is an awesome guitarist.

    Love the Bathroom Sessions.

  • Is Steve a bad guitarist, or is Ed just really good?

  • Steve's not THAT bad. Just not as good as Ed.

  • haha thats the first time i watched it and something went wrong with the sound system

  • check your foundation buddy, might out from beneath you

  • actually, the only thing America has that Canada doesn't is ignorance, in-breeding and child obesity :)

  • steve's got so much make-up on!

  • wow Stevens voice sounds so damn good in this one.

  • sounds like the soundmen shut off the PAs after the false ending, thinking the song was over.

  • I'm surprised it took a year for someone to actually notice that.

  • one of the best bands around!

  • Nice, although whoever set up the mixers should have put more gain on the guitars.

  • Nah, their sound is clean. They don't need gain.

  • The guitars have distortion on them in this song...

I think he means gain as in volume, on the mixer, sometimes it's labeled as gain.

  • Personally the best version I've heard of this song was performed on acoustic guitars!

  • that be them at bestest...luv edee's cowboy shirt and stevee's green pants!

  • wow. it's like something the eagles would write back in the 70s with jd souther...but then there's a little elvis costello in there and weezer of all things. great song

  • Green eggs and pants.

  • Superb! Thank you so much for posting this- love that song and can't wait to see them live in 5 weeks and counting!

  • Excellent! Thanks for posting this vid.

  • Woo hoo! Go Kev!!!

  • mmmmmmmm green pants. ;)

  • George Harrison wore green pants for the rooftop concert- what's wrong with green?
