I have this plane! It is great! It is sweet for beginners, but for a professional, it is also great as you can do loops rools, inverted loops (at a pinch) and inverted flight.
If anyone wants to get a 3D plane, I recommend a foamie, and a balsa for scale.
Can you put retracts on this? And if I already have the DX6I would I be better off or cheaper buying the E flight ARF? And another question is there much difference between the T-34 and the Bonanza Beechcraft? Thanks
if i have already flown the supercub would i be ok to just fly without the traner gear on the plane or would it be best to kind of start all over again?? and how fast will this plane fly??
I have had this plane since 8/11/09 and it is great. I try to get to the airfield every chance I get. I must admit that I was initially intimidated by the size of this plane due to its 55" wingspan. But after flying it is great, easy to land and VERY stable. Thanks for creating a good package. My question to you is can this plane be upgraded with another Eflite motor? If so, can you tell me which and if needed which ESC and prop?
I think you can put the 60-Amp Pro Switch-Mode BEC Brushless ESC, the Power 32 Brushless Outrunner Motor, 770Kv and the Electric Propeller, 12 x 6E, but lets see what the guys from Horizon have to say...
Horizon, what do you guys think about putting the 60-Amp Pro Switch-Mode BEC Brushless ESC, the Power 32 Brushless Outrunner Motor, 770Kv and the Electric Propeller, 12 x 6E??? Oh, and I just bought the T-34, and I love it...
i've been flying high wing 4ch model airplanes for quite a while now, for excample the apprentice 15e i have mastered all the manuvers it can do. i just got the t-34 mentor like in ur video a week ago and haven't had the time to take it out yet, is there any unexpected suprises from that plane compared to the apprentice 15e?
do you have to adjust the flaps manually or are they controlled by the dx6i radio? also can you just go to your local hobby shop to get the droops removed?
You can do either. There is a bracket inside the kit that will allow you to set the flaps a three different setting depending on your experience. Also, and optional feature is adding a servo for the flaps so you can engage them from your DX6i radio (that's what I did). By the way the plane flies very stable but also can get up go when the flaps are raised..
i will buy this plane { t-34 } next week is my first one and i think that it looks very cool i hope that is going to be easy to fly because iam a beginer. nice preview !!!!!
I have logged 30 hours on FSONE, then i bought the parkzone FW 190 for my first plane (against all advice and no trainer lol) and so far i have flown about 20 flights with out any crashes, but im thinking of buying another plane in a few months, would this be a good pick
You're right, I would totally have suggested a different plane myself for a first plane but great to hear you're having success with it. If you can handle the Focke Wulf then you may want to try a T-28 Trojan (PKZ4400). Very gentle in the air but can also perform a number of aerobatics. It also has rudder control which your Focke Wulf does not. You can fly it as a 3-channel airplane and not mess with the rudder too, easing into that eventually as you become more comfortable with it.
thanks for the help, i was looking for a rtf plane that came with the DX6I , but ive looked in to it and i think the Trojan PNP with a DX6I would be a good pick, Thanks
I've never done rc flying before but am highly considering buying the mentor as my first plane. I actually found out about this because I was looking for a RTF plane that included the DX6i. I'm also looking into getting a software simulator that let's me learn how to fly using the DX6i and the PhoenixRC simulator looks like a great way to get me started before I take the mentor out. I'd love to hear any feedback you guys might have on my plan for getting started.
I'm not familiar with the Phoenix RC sim so I don't know how it'll work for you. I would tell you this about Simulators. Nothing beats real-world flight. Simulators can help get the absolute basics down but real-world flight is different because of the depth-of-field issues. If you're looking to buy a simulator I'd suggest saving a few bucks and pick up a HobbyZone Super Cub. From there getting an instructor and moving up to the Mentor if you wish is a great idea.
If you have a certified trainer perhaps. It's hard to say, that's a lot of plane for a 2nd plane without help, but I have known people who start flying with this WITH an instructor.
It's not that simple. Without being able to see you fly and how you handle the plane it would just be a guess. I would talk to the guys at your local club and ask them to assess your flying skills.
When the DX6i's went into "recall status" we pulled all the stock, including planes and heli's that included that radio. That's why the T-34 and Blade 400 has been in such tight supply as of late. If your LHS had to order one we've checked the radio here before the plane is shipped to them. I wouldn't worry about it, it should be ok.
looking to get into rc planes. is this a good plane to start with?want a plane i can grow with.more expensive than other trainers.but can also use the eletrical equip. in other planes as i move on. what are your suggestions?should i buy a less expensive plane to start with?
This is a nice airplane, but those cheap foam factory wheels have to go quickly. I put Dubro 2 3/4" Treaded Lightweight Wheels on mine and it's much smoother and a lot more quiet cause they don't transfer all that ground vibration to the airframe and gets rid of that "cheap" sound rolling on the ground. I thought 2 3/4" might be too big, but it makes the plane look more substantial and real.
This sure looks like a heck of a plane, electric, flaps, rtf, li-po, 2.4ghz, scale.... Compared to the boxy and messy i.c, glow-plug planes this sure is something...
just need to find $420! Im thinking of getting this plane after my T-28 Trojan is totally mastered (its also a great plane)
I started out with a super cub and am looking at getting this T-34. My major concern is the take offs. Does anyone know if you can just throw it in the air to take off? Or do you need a runway? Our flying field is an alfalfa field so I am also wondering how it would hold up to flipping when landing in the alfalfa?
I have an AC to DC adapter with an output of 12 volts and 3.25 amps. It also says that it is a class 2 power supply. Would this be compatible with the charger supplied with the T-34 Mentor?
I probably wouldn't recommend it. If you're looking for a good, inexpensive power supply check out the Dynamite 12v 10-amp power supply, DYN4055. I use this with the Losi 1-to-5-cell LiPo Charger along with the ParkZone LiPo charger and it does a great job.
You could probably convert it, but in all honesty you would be better off going with a Hangar 9 T-34 Mentor, HAN4325, if you're looking for a Glow-powered T-34.
I would still recommend the HOBBYZONE SUPERCUB to learn with. $150.00 No need to join a club and pay them, having to ask permission to fly, wait for them to get ready to order one time a year and you want to fly this weekend.
No arguement on the quality of the Supercub at all. That is an excellent plane to teach-yourself-to-fly with. If however you're looking for something that is balsa instead of foam, better performance potential, better radio, etc and you find having a trainer desireable, the ePTS is perfect for you.
hi yea in australia it costs $398 and by the look of it it looks really worth it :P it will be my first rc plane but im NOT gonna try to fly by myself lol
If you price it out it's an exceptional value actually:
DX6i- $179.99
40-amp ESC- $74.99
3200mAh 3-Cell LiPo Battery- $99.99
Power 25 Outrunner Motor- $84.99
Just the price of those items combined is $440 roughly. And you still don't have a professionally assembled and trimmed plane, servos, charger, etc. The ePTS includes all those items listed and more.
BUY THIS PLANE it is so good its easy to fly u will have no regrets

It would be a custom install as there's not a dedicated retract kit for the ePTS.

i say start with a 3ch,
then move up to ailerons
but for 400$ for this plane you realy cant beat it,a VERY good radio, and every thing you need to fly,
but if your going to teach yourself to fly (like me,lol) go with the super cub
