  • I feel such an incredible rush of relief that there are still true wise man today in places where one might look away the first time they see. You are truly someone I will watch more often now. Are u familiar with Master Greg park on his youtube channel "chosunninja" I wish you well mr. Sharpe. *bow*

  • He is a great man, lots of respect and opened minded. I salute you big times, from Denmark, future Martial artist.

  • I have a lotta respect for a man like this, he's got such talent and ability, yet he's always humble. I like his message too, don't try to be like anybody, be your best of what you're good at. That's how I interpreted him anyways. You have inspired me Mr. Sharpe, thank you.

  • What a nice guy with such an open & free mind.

  • Jah Berto Is the real deal Deep kind spiritual warrior I beg your pardon show me the way to Jahs Garden.

  • cool dude

  • @twotetah I don't like many people, but this guy is hard not to like.

  • This guy has a really peaceful happy smile... bad teeth, but the nice spirit really comes through, love the open sincerity with the constant grins. =)

  • I am Russian and I saw this in Switzerland, would loved having for my Capoeira teacher Roberto Sharpe !

  • Hair like that gives your opponent a tactical advantage

  • @vthrizzle I dare you to grab it!

  • This guy is inspiring. "Everything is fulfilling if you do it with all your heart." A true martial artist

  • this man is great :D

  • If he's so smart why can't he figure out how to use a toothbrush?

  • @reallybigmike Life isn't a fashion show kid

  • What an interesting & charismatic, humble man. I loved hearing him speak, thanks.

  • Everything is fullfilling....

  • This guy has an impressive resume...

  • @zacks1314 a great common saying in Chinese Martial Arts. Sharpe spitting genius

  • SABEDORIA !

    WISDOM !

  • there is no doubt in my mind that Sifu Sharpe is the real Deal. He has the proper ettiquette, and attitude. His guidance is thorough and endearing. And his style of teaching is traditional. And it seems to simply come natural to him. I wish more Martial ARtists were as endearing as this man.

  • This guy seems cool!

  • id love to get a lesson from this guy, he seems also super interesting lool watching glue dry with him prolly wouldnt be boring

  • Good Job Roberto...

  • i think all you haters should take note of this peaceful guy who is trying to share his view of martial arts...i mean you guys must think Brock Lesnar or Anderson Silva just woke up one day and invented MMA!? Where do you think they learned all their stuff? It comes from taking bits and pieces of ALL martial arts. People used to think Karate wasn't good for MMA and then Machida (who happens to be a black belt BJJ) came along and started destroying everyone, with his Karate and not BJJ.

  • nice guy...

  • teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeth

  • @EiKukaan554 my friend, take a look deeper than that....

  • @lmaffonso i took

  • people are talking about tai chi not working. Taichi being functional depends on what you use it for. Im pretty sure theyd be taught not to use it for violence. Taichi depends on the person and knowledge as well as execution.

  • @hakuboshi1

they use elements of tai chi in sanda

  • i dont think his bull shitting

  • great story

  • world need people like you...go for it!....and for all the tv drogs adictet...have a fresh breath of real air!....coul that help you guys!

  • the world needs many more people like you.

  • @bobogrecu i agree with you, we need toooooooooooooo much ppl like him, he is such a good influence for everybody. (but he needs to take care of himself though)

  • Wow, if all what he says is true, he has lived a pretty cool life, full of different kind of experiences.

  • lol... someone could mistake him as a homeless man then he kicks the shit outta em

  • Agree with Rapposamandinga i actually just started doing capoeira and i can tell you that taking n e lessons from this man will greatly improve your skills. keep doiong wat you do and keep taking this videos because i can get somthing out of this too ; P

  • Man, it must have been a great opportunity to train and meet such a man like Roberto, judging from the humility and good manners he shows. I've already said it, but I ll' repeat, keep up your training and your very interesting project, and do not listen to frustrated shitheads, like the one down here, all they can do is bitching and talking shit upon other's work from behind a keyboard. My respect goes to you and to Roberto Sharpe.

  • @Dead77Kennedy you sound like a complete looser. Roberto seems to be not only a nice person, but an astute judge of martial arts. Say, to put the way he did it about western boxing being a good platform for tai tsi, is a very true thing. The way your sick mind works, I see him KO you in half a minute or less. Stay away from him

  • Go Blow Boris Yeltsin you Fag!!!!!! The Soviet Union fell because of Pussies like you. Don't make me knock out your teeth and Roberto's teeth! You know shit about fighting........

  • plz die soon...

  • i give you 5 seconds in a real fight against Roberto.

  • @rAFiCoRe .....You like to get butt fucked by (Ricoloop), Ewhhh.....Some sweaty white guy "beat boxing" while he rams you in the asshole. You are a filthy person.

I will give myself 5 seconds to count all of Roberto's teeth!.......

  • Far far from being smart, typical bullshitter, who's mostly a reader, and hangs around martial artists taking bits, and pieces and tries tohold on to basic info about tai chi, etc no talent at all

  • I love this man, because he knows himself. He is one of the graets in this art don't let all that nice talk fool you.

  • PEACE Bro. Roberto, you have some true skill. and people like dead77kennedy who saw that watered down movie Only The Strong be a fool and run up on a Caporista, your ignorance will only help you into a hospital. respectfully Fere-El a Mwanzo Vita Sanaa Student

  • Respect man, you found your way

  • re5pect for you!!!!!!

  • All i can Really Say is ..Regular Street bums Dont speak with such knowledge or Vocab

  • this guy is really smart! and i can see he knows really well the martial arts love hes vids

  • He leaves out his wing chun training which I would bet has influenced his stuff as much as anything else....

Where are you Robert? Be nice to see you again..

    Jim

  • Did you hear him talk about his training in the first minute?- and for so long!! I dont think he'd get his ass kicked. A martial artist's first job is to try and prevent a fight; only using their training as a last resort.

  • In ur description its written that u r 31 years old.. if thats true u should probably get urself hanged if u go like this through life as a 31 year old 'man' (haha), mma ppl never really learn 1 martial art PERFECT, they r just average... put someone of Ninjutsu against an MMA fighter...get the Ninja girl thats also on youtube...u're gona c that MMA is just the most basic of all skills... + I TOTALLY AGREE WITH Theetrailerparkkidds :D

  • @lukaj1n Ras Roberto turns 50 yrs old this month, respect is due

  • he looks still so young and full of vivid energy

  • @MrMMA6ave You do not realise the potential of the mind

The body is nothing without the mind whatsoever. If one does not explore all possible aspects of things, then one will not master anything. This man realizes this. The MIND produces adrenaline. The MIND decides ever single solitary move. Many pros in the MMA know this to be true as well. Don't speak of what you have no knowledge of.

  • @Darkseany well said dude

  • @MrMMA6ave ...i pitty you fool...

  • This man is clearly a master of himself and doesn't need to earn respect from anyone as he has the most important type of respect. Self Respect. He's articulate and he's not boastful.

  • good to hear someone talking with intelligence.

  • a very inteligent person, If was living in New york I would defenetly seek him to learn, not martial arts but filosofy.. Excuse my bad english..

    amasing

  • sarebbe bello imparare la capoeira con voi!! però sono in italia:(

    bello:)

  • guy's got a really cool story :)

he seems to have done shit loads in his life ... how old is he neway?

ps. he really needs to see the dentist though!

  • I am thoroughly impressed with this man's position in life and priorities.

  • Ah, my teacher is the same as this guys. Dashi steven baugh despises being called anything 'pretty' although he has such a title among traditionalists.

  • Roots, nuf love and respect

  • A man who is in good character and perfectly himself. Bravo!

  • Wow... what a wonderful interview. Such humility and graceousness... thanks for posting this video.

  • This man have lived the history of his country. He is authentic.

  • This guy is actually out there doing his thing and for the right reasons. You internet wannabe fighters have nothing to even show the world or yourselves. Keep watching U.F.C. and putting on your fake thug attitude to try and cover being a weak coward, you only make yourselves appear as fools.

  • Yeah this guy got enough experience in martial arts to know what it's about, only true masters are like that

  • @7Matahari7 I think you meant "tools" not "fools" :) definition of a tool: a person without style or imagination. lol

  • @7Matahari7 You appear as the fool because ufc isnt a verb dumb fuck

  • @halomademepoor Right, take your grammar to a street fight. "Oh no wait, you cursed at me with an adjective! The fight is invalid! No, wait...stop!" lol You amaze me. Armchair warriors, fun.

  • @halomademepoor ... YOUR A FUCKING IDIOT LOL. Not only does the context of a human term made by symbolism mean NOTHING in any manner of truth outside a subjective manner. But he didn't even say that U.F.C was a verb. YOU are the dumb fuck. this is coming from a complete stranger outside and unbiased from your squabble. Reach inside yourself and recover the honesty.

  • @7Matahari7 ufc isn't thug, its a more practical approach to self defense than doing flip kicks, just watch military tactics theres a reason why they teach it to their soldiers - because it works. This guy isn't a fraud because he legitimately believes that what hes teaching is right but that doesn't mean it is. Try use your 'heart and soul' against someone with a knife..

  • @RawCQC You people should learn to read be4 you reply to me. I did not say U.F.C. is thug. How can it be? It's a ring SPORT, with rules and made for entertainment. I have fought under these rules myself, it's fun. I'm also a U.S. Army war veteran, I just may know a thing or two about combat. If you do not use your Heart (will) and Soul (would be useless to explain to you) then your chances are very slim. You think ring fighters don't use Heart and Soul? Again, U.F.C. is NOT a style, its rules.

  • "no money or little money there is self training..." hear that!

  • Look people he is not a bum, vagrant, or con artist! He is genuine in form and personality. He is educated and well spoken, with alot of patience and wisdom. Just because someone looks bohemian does not make them a bum. All you judgmentards need to look at the deepness of this particular individual

  • Hey hey hey

vagrant and vagabonding martial artists aren't bad people! :D

They just aren't as helpful...unless they are passing by when you get jumped haha. We just need more legit and passionate street teachers like this guy and less 'wandering' types.

  • @gtypethang Well said. Some people need to mature and grow up.

  • @flowjitsu1337 agree. that guy has wisdom, strengh and heart he is a truly martial artis. some people might write bad comment because of their jealousy or fear. so dont mind them. personaly i believe that guy has earned the respect of that place and of the most of us here.

  • @gtypethang Well said.

  • @gtypethang

    Agree!!!

  • amazing! He's a truly master, and a kind man...

  • This Roberto is what you call authentic and pure soul beeing.

thank god, that there are still people like him,

wish there would be more of in this world.

    RESPECT NAMASTE!!

  • wow this guy is awesome wish he would do some shows so i can watch

  • this dude would rock you, idk why half of these bitch internet thugs talk shit let alone won't do shit when a dude in there face ready to whoop they ass

  • say that 2 his face... nd giv him a punch while ur there, then c wat hapns... dick shit

  • this black bum would kick your ass

  • This guy is awesome.

  • Respect

  • MMA proponents talk about chi as being useless in a fight. I would venture to say that chi has nothing to do with fighting. It's more about going deeper into one's self and experiencing the moment. This is the level we experience chi at. It's about the meditation. The fighting in this case is irrelevant. If chi is life's energy, then we build life's energy, not a tool with which to attack, but to experience.

  • therefore in order for the atoms to maintain. there must be plasma there for chi is plasma. the other types of matter can consume and project chi/plasma/energy.

  • is he really a bum?

  • lol

  • What an articulate and humble guy..

  • Wow...an argument about MMA when most of this interview isn't even about fighting. Stop trying to push your agendas.

  • did any of you hear what the man said?

  • What interesting people in NYC... Inspiring person

  • All you retards taking shit about mma dont even know how hard and how much work it takes to be an mma fighter so instead all that shit talking you do some research and do some training before you shit talk

  • This guy is an MMA fighter. He combines traditional martial arts with western boxing and grappling. He's educated, soft spoken. Seems like a good martial artist. As for all the WIMPS who talk smack about MMA, they wouldnt last in the ring / cage for a single round with an MMA fighter with 1 year training.

  • I don't believe we ever said that they were bad fighters. I agree they are very good at fighting, I just don't like them, or their style.

  • Their 'style' is anything goes. There are rules so fighters can get paid. If you like truly NO RULES and no gloves, no weight limmit or time limit, try Vale Tudo Brazil. I think why traditional martial artists complain is that MMA doesn't look as pretty. Styles like TKD, Karate, etc. look pretty against their own style. Once more techniques are added to the game, most competitive martial arts don't work. Most MMA fighters come from traditional backgrounds and quickly adjusted.

  • Why is it that so many YouTube posters are such moronic jackasses? It's astounding the number of stupid one-liners that people make, particularly on videos such as this. Perhaps there should be an IQ test before registration. I think that might help keep the fools from talking foolishness.

  • signed. screw you, idiots.

  • you are a genious my friend, that iq test would get rid of all these dumb asses on youtube... :P

  • It would also get rid of youtube lol

  • how?

  • I love how judgemental and shallow the world has become. The guy has a shaggy beird and Rasto hat and you all think he's a bum and a hobo because he doesn't look like your steroid-ridden MMA Animals. I dare you to call this guy a bum to his face and see how long you stay on your feet. I've been doing Martial Arts for nearly 11 years and this guy has skill, he might not be the Martial Art Master but he's not someone to get up in his face calling him a hobo.

  • you got it all twisted the mma fighters are bums... LOL

  • I agree that MMA fighters are bums.

  • You're a 15 year old kid. What do you know about combat or any real training. Most of the MMA champions have been fighting while your Mom was still wiping your pooper. Grow up, wise up, do some real training, and try some real fighting instead of watching ninja movies and throwing rubber shuriken ninja starts at your friends.

  • Lol, nothing gets by you does it. And I've been doing Martial Arts since I was the age of 4. I have my third black belt in Taekwondo and the won the Provincial Championships multiple times. Unless you're some kind of stalker you shouldn't know a damn about me or who I am, so really, I see no facts or knowledge behind what you say because you don't know me. So maybe next time before you open your mouth, try and know something more about the person you're talking to apart from the obvious.

  • I'm not sure what a Provincial Champion is. But I can assure you, you'll have your hands full with a local MMA fighter. If you adjust, learn serious grappling, boxing, etc. at age 15, you may still be a force to reackon with in MMA. You're young enough to do it. There are fighters out there who have been fighting Olympic level in boxing, wrestling judo and even TKD for longer than you have been alive. Congrats on Provincial Championship.

  • Thanks, and I'll keep that in mind and probably look into it as a solid form of self defense training.

  • hes growin the beard and dreads probably cause hes a rasta or some other religious belief, people are stupid, it has nothing to do with how proffesional he really is. i have dreadlocks too, does that make me a bad fighter?

  • drunk bum that flops around everywhere thinking its MMA..

  • And what are you my friend? A fucking welfare baby no doubt.

  • no, an intelligent and enlightend man who beats people down thinking they are doing mma. lol

  • name one MMA fighter this guy could beat? hahaha you cant.

  • how can i get in contact with him

  • just look for the hobo digging cans out of the trash at the park.. that's him..

  • Roberto Sharpe 212.982.6544. He does classes at Tompkins Square Park. Hope it helps!

  • i know only what i see in this video - a man with an ungroomed beard talking in the park; he is cheerful, calm, focused and eloquent... his word are smart and true.

  • i think he is homeless

  • he went to law school dude he earns more than both your parents put together!

  • I think this guy needs to see a good dentist. It would improve his look.

  • Dude is awesome.

  • most people forget one of the most important aspects of martial arts......no matter what style you learn, it is designed to make you a better person so you dont go out and kill somebody. Its not designed to show how badass you are and to argue ufc destroys everything out there. All martial arts are important and everyone should learn things from all styles. but whatever, to each his own. anyone who isnt a cage fighter is a faggot in some peoples eyes i suppose.

  • This guys cool

  • This guys life is fucking crazy, Going to Columbia one of the most prestigious colleges in the US, and he looks like a Bum hahaha

  • are you saying he looks like a bum because he has a full beard?

  • Probably... It's pathetic. I have a full beard, I'm young and I'm white so all I get all day is Moses and Jesus. People can be ignorant cunts.

It's like since when did everyone decide clean shaven and short hair is the only style for men? EVERY other age besides the past 20 years accepted long hair and beards on anybody who cared to have one.

  • Looks can be deceiving.... look at ex-president Bush, intelligence of a parking meter.

This guy is very intelligent and Humble... he would have made a fine president if he was ever elected. Being Humble is a quality that no leader can be without.

  • What a fascinating guy, I'm glad guys like this do what they do....

  • has a background in many formal styles and found his niche, but yet took his skill level into his art of choice, excellent man...

  • you can stop a rear naked choke but not w fuckn chi u faggot

  • oh you should have replied to me so i could know you were saying that to me

  • sorry, i meant to do that.

    my bad.

  • being calm is the only way to stop a fight in a rage

  • bravo, good work man your really an inspiration

  • the peace will not bring you to win a match or a fight !

see ufc fighters and then you will learn what is it fight !

not a stupid man giving kick to the air !

or fighting with stupid guys !
