The extended edition makes this scene even crazier. When MoS pulled out the Mithril Armor, that was such concrete evidence that they found Frodo and killed him. But for Aragorn to be like "fuck that" and lead his men to battle anyway with the feint glimmer of hope that MoS was full of shit, took so much balls.

Maybe he believed that if they caught Frodo like MoS, they would've known by then since Sauron would have the ring.

If it wasnt for Frodo, anyone who had contact with the ring would get corrupted. He had a resistence to the ring's power, something the others didn't have. Even Gandalf said the ring would corrupt him if he took it to make good deeds. Of course, after days holding the ring in his neck, hearing his voice and seeing what would happen if he failed, his resistence failed him at the last moment and got corrupted. Dont make less of Frodo, whos struggle was internal. LOTR is about everyone being heroes

Aragorn's role is obvious, Legolas and Gimli's skill couldn't be dispensed and without them, the death toll would have been far worse, Merry and Pippin roused the Ents, Boromir saved Merry and Pippin and though he tried to take the ring, he relented and that convinced Frodo and Sam to leave. Gandalf wove the plan for the war against Sauron. Without any of these characters, the quest would have failed. End of story.
