To those who are saying that this is fake and not true, this movie actually very accurately portrays what happened. There were of course a few small aspects, like the fistfight between the two brothers (not shown in the trailer), that Hollywood added, but otherwise, it is a very true depiction of the story. I actually just met the son of Zus Bielski, and he did not try to put a heroic, fairytale twist to the story.

I am sure the Bielski Brothers were not liberal pacifists. The Pacifists were all murdered by the Germans and Russians. They supposedly started out with 20 people and ended up with 1250.

The villagers of Naliboki were loyal to Poland and refused to go under Soviet command. This was the direct reason for the Soviet and their collaborators attack in May 1943. In August 1943 during and anti-partisan sweep (Op. Herman) the Nazis also attacked the villagers.

The farmers of Naliboki were definately not Nazi supporters. In August 1943, during operation Herman, Naliboki was razed and inhabitants murdered or deported to slave camps. Anyone who opposed Soviet ruled was given any number of labels such as facists or Nazi collaborators. Polish resistance members who where in concentration camps still ended up accused of being facists and murdered. Soviets were masters of demonising their victims and much of their propaganda has been accepted as truth.
