You sir are wrong...evos did not come with the ACD (active center diff) option until 2005..and the BUTTON not switch is located left of the steering wheel on the dash...tarmac, gravel and snow are the settings...i too have a black 600hp evo and its an 05...i also had an 03 that had no ACD switch because they didnt have them yet...uhhhh get some and shut your ignorant mouth lol

My truck is my DD. My Cutlass is my future race car and as of now, I have spent only 1200 on it. My truck for being 5360 lbs and only an intake and exhaust runs 14.4's @ 94.4 mph. What's wrong with running a DD truck anyways? So it's not an 11 sec monster.....who says it has to be??

if you go and look up some of the supras from texas that are street driven you still see them being driven down the strip but yet they are street cars. As long as a cars isnt to extensivly modified and has the stock body in most cases it can be streetable
Sorry, FAIL! Definition of a Street Legal ride, is a ride that passes all emissions tests and DOT approved parts and so on. Sorry but no Supra with that Horse power numbers are street legal. You can say they are Daily Drivers, but no street legal. There are plenty Mustangs that are Daily drivers with 1000hp+ too. Just so you know, any ride that gets 8mpg is not a daily driver. hahaha. I asked an owner of a Supra on a Video what the MPG was & he said 8mpg. That's not even a daily driver IMO.

What I was trying to tell you that "Street Legal" is emissions controlled vehicle. Daily driver is when it can be driven on the streets with not much hassle. I know Supras can be Daily drivers. Lots of cars can do that if built correctly. Takes time and Money.
A daliy driver is not something that get's you 5mpg. Why would anyone want to drive something that you constantly have to stop by at the gas stationg to fill up. Let alone have to use race gas. lol. You misconception on what daily driver is. lol.
What's funny is you say "as long as the car isn't too extensively modified?" So this EVO does not have a massive turbo with massive headers built engine, etc? I get 23-24mpg on a 500rwhp. It's not a 1000hp but It's more than enough to take trips and so on without stopping at every gas station every 120-150miles. Plus those 1000hp+ Supras you mentioned run race gas of some sort.
Ok......let's do some quick math. 1980's Malibu for $1000, built 408 engine for $10,000, NX 300 wet shot plate system tricked out $1000, built TH400 trans $1800, rear end and suspension mods $2800. So, for about $16,600 you can have a car that may not look the best (I like them) but will run 9's all day long and that Evo cost's 20-25K used PLUS another 10-14K of mods to go as fast as it did in this video. American muscle all the way for cheap and fast straight line fun.
And on a side note, AMS and Buschur both build badass Evo's, but they're far from the best thing since sliced bread.......by a long shot. To each their own though. Much respect for the Evo.

First off a 1980's Malibu is going to need restoration(along with various chassis improvements). After that you will want a full rollcage and other various safety equipment. You also failed to factor in wheels and tires. Your claim of $16,600 is less than half of what it would take to make a reliable 9 second car.

This Evo is well built, and a lot of it has to do with the AMS name.AMS is the most amazing Mitsubishi Tuner that also builds other cars including the GTR35 and the new Genesis Coupe by Hyundai.I drive a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS with the new 2.4 4b12 motor, and I'm sure it would pull pretty damn hard if I put in that much work.The point is, if you build a motor that much and have that much pride, weather you drive a I4,V6,V8 or even the rotary motor in the Mazdas; youre going to have a beast.
not every v8 is built to its peak performance output (obviously), but then again rarely is a 4cyl built well. In this case, its a KICK ASS evo. Dont get me wrong from my last post I just think people who say v8's suck have either never been in one, or are ricers. Straight up. You can build a v8 with a given amount of cubes, it may produce 150hp or 800hp, all depends on set up. 4cyls can make power, but not as reliably or efficiently as a v8 can. btw this evo is sick, dont get me wrong.. but v8's suck? My truck is my DD. My Cutlass is my future race car and as of now, I have spent only 1200 on it. My truck for being 5360 lbs and only an intake and exhaust runs 14.4's @ 94.4 mph. What's wrong with running a DD truck anyways? So it's not an 11 sec monster.....who says it has to be??

if you go and look up some of the supras from texas that are street driven you still see them being driven down the strip but yet they are street cars. As long as a cars isnt to extensivly modified and has the stock body in most cases it can be streetable

Sorry, FAIL! Definition of a Street Legal ride, is a ride that passes all emissions tests and DOT approved parts and so on. Sorry but no Supra with that Horse power numbers are street legal. You can say they are Daily Drivers, but no street legal. There are plenty Mustangs that are Daily drivers with 1000hp+ too. Just so you know, any ride that gets 8mpg is not a daily driver. hahaha. I asked an owner of a Supra on a Video what the MPG was & he said 8mpg. That's not even a daily driver IMO.

What I was trying to tell you that "Street Legal" is emissions controlled vehicle. Daily driver is when it can be driven on the streets with not much hassle. I know Supras can be Daily drivers. Lots of cars can do that if built correctly. Takes time and Money.

What's funny is you say "as long as the car isn't too extensively modified?" So this EVO does not have a massive turbo with massive headers built engine, etc? I get 23-24mpg on a 500rwhp. It's not a 1000hp but It's more than enough to take trips and so on without stopping at every gas station every 120-150miles. Plus those 1000hp+ Supras you mentioned run race gas of some sort.

Ok......let's do some quick math. 1980's Malibu for $1000, built 408 engine for $10,000, NX 300 wet shot plate system tricked out $1000, built TH400 trans $1800, rear end and suspension mods $2800. So, for about $16,600 you can have a car that may not look the best (I like them) but will run 9's all day long and that Evo cost's 20-25K used PLUS another 10-14K of mods to go as fast as it did in this video. American muscle all the way for cheap and fast straight line fun.

AMS 2.3L stroker short block $4260 ,clutch kit $1355, AMS GT35R turbo upgrade kit $4199.95, Bigger injectors $300-400, Tune $600-700, Bigger I/C $600, used Evo 9 $22,000 avg. This Evo in THIS video has a LOT of money in mods and it got it's ass handed to it by dinosaur technology. That Camaro prolly cost no more than 20K to build if not less. Like I said, American Muscle all the way for cheap, fast, straight line fun.

First off a 1980's Malibu is going to need restoration(along with various chassis improvements). After that you will want a full rollcage and other various safety equipment. You also failed to factor in wheels and tires. Your claim of $16,600 is less than half of what it would take to make a reliable 9 second car.

Obviously you know very little about GM G-body cars. Secondly, YOU seem to care about this unrealistic dragcar fantasy, otherwise, you'd have not put you're .02 in. Thirdly, you don't HAVE to have a cage, is highly recommended obviously. And lastly, who the hell "restores" a mid 80's G-body anyways?? Either way, worst case scenario, you'd be in it for at most $17,000 or less if you know what you're doing.

a 1980 vs a 03 evo. when the 1980 malibu doesnt even have working lights.. they had to get a full out drag car to race a street legal car.. if we put a old school supra or skyline against that malibu forsure it'll be cheaper and faster thank that.. but point is, they had to get a track car to come out without working lights to race a four banger after beating so many v8's. i definately give this evo props.

Now with that said, the Evo is a badass import and certainly does not fall into what I can "rice" category. But there are a LOT cheaper ways to go much faster for less.

You obviously haven't got a clue how to build race cars. I do as much of my fabrication work myself, thereby saving MONEY. With that being said, an 8 point cage is only a few hundred dollars. What other safety gear does the car really need? Fire extinguisher, a hundo or 2. At least in the Malibu, I would still have lots of steel around me vs open air. You don't know jack shit about reliability either. A GM LS series engine is one of the most reliable V8's ever made.

This Evo is well built, and a lot of it has to do with the AMS name.AMS is the most amazing Mitsubishi Tuner that also builds other cars including the GTR35 and the new Genesis Coupe by Hyundai.I drive a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS with the new 2.4 4b12 motor, and I'm sure it would pull pretty damn hard if I put in that much work.The point is, if you build a motor that much and have that much pride, weather you drive a I4,V6,V8 or even the rotary motor in the Mazdas; youre going to have a beast.

not every v8 is built to its peak performance output (obviously), but then again rarely is a 4cyl built well. In this case, its a KICK ASS evo. Dont get me wrong from my last post I just think people who say v8's suck have either never been in one, or are ricers. Straight up. Ill give respect to ANYTHING fast. a cammed/100shot camaro is more likely than not, making under 500whp (high 3xx's from cam + 100 shot) is obviously going to get pulled by a 600awhp evo.

Its FUNNY you say v8's are "shit lazy fucking useless engines", since they can make 1000bhp ON MOTOR. Not to mention a SMALLblock on boost, can make 1500+ WHEEL hp, and still not use 55psi.. they are more reliable at any given power level than a high boost 4cyl. You can build a v8 with a given amount of cubes, it may produce 150hp or 800hp, all depends on set up. 4cyls can make power, but not as reliably or efficiently as a v8 can. btw this evo is sick, dont get me wrong.. but v8's suck? HA!
