I have a confession to make. Something I need to get off my chest. On top of the St Pauls hotel at the back of the Peace gardens is a tall pole. I made it, and fixed it there, along with a lot of the structural and architectural steelwork for the hotel. I need to apologise. It looks a bloody mess! On the drawing it said it was a flagpole but there is nowhere to attach a flag. It galls me every time I see it. Sorry :(

Anybody else remember that long bus shelter which was next to the gardens until the late 80s? Remember waiting for buses there so many times as a child. Always quite like it actually, it was a bit unusual. Wonder why they got rid of it?
