I didn't read the manga yet, but I think the reason of alucard tagging along with humans, is because he had the chance to fight stronger enemies/vampires... If he was on the enemy's side, he would likely kill walter and that mercenary guy easily without a sweat. and the vatican has lesser strong people like alexander.

@TroIlviruS1 He's tagging along with humans simply because he respects the Van Helsing bloodline, after all it was the first time a human defeated him, as such he has put himself at their beck and call, it's even insinuated that he may, in his own way, love Integra, he does make at some point strong *allusions* that Integra turns him on, and at the end of the series, he does try *attacking* her in her sleep (but fails miserably with multiple bullets to the head)

@TroIlviruS1 And at the end, (the end being 30 years after the final battle, since Alucard faded from existence due to the Major's plan, and now Integra is getting a bit old looking), she say's about how he must want to drink blood from her, and his eye's must have literally lit up with joy XP also, the final lines between the two before the end of the manga was

Alucard: I am home, Countess

This fansub group is kind of fail. First, the light text on a light background make the subtitles difficult to read, and then the random capitalization. And they have a quality checker?

*Sigh* thats because although this is a bloody, horrer fest anime, they for some reason decided to remove all of Alucards sexual innuendo towards Integra from the original story, he actually asks "Does it turn you on?" hence her blushing embarresment and calling him a moron, he only makes a few references, but they are present in the original, including that bit before when she shouted his orders down the phone, he basicly replies her resolve is "turning him on" lol

Alucard had his Power restrained by Van Helsing, he can only use his full power at certain times. The length of his hair is an "indicator" (as well as his outfit) of how much of his power Alucard is releasing.

that's why when he releases the "Cromwell" Seal (or whatever it's full name is) His hair is extremely long

@omegatux1 That's more speculation than anything. As Alucard himself says, his form means nothing to him and he can take any form he chooses, the long hair and outfit aren't really indicators. If you remember when Integra found him, he was really weak, yet, his hair was extremely long atm.

Also, we only know that Van Helsing beat Alucard and somehow tamed him, but it's mentioned that Hellsing actually "worked" in making him what he is now, the most powerful vampire, not simply restricting him.
