Looks like the crown man didn't fully appreciate what his job was. Pull like f*ck. Should have put that fat bird on there, that would've done the trick!
First off, someone needs to hold that fan, so in a situation like this, they can easily move it out of the way. Secondly, if the pilot knew what he was doing, he could have waited to see how the balloon reacted, and in this case, shut the pilot's light and burners off and don't wait for your crown man to help you, he's already in a bad situation as it is. Move the basket in adjacent to the way the balloon wants to rotate. And just wait for the wind to die down, and if not, cancel the flight.
They basically melted a hole in the balloon and we couldnt fly. That was at the end of last season, and last week we tried again successfully this time, and it was an amazing experiance would recomend it to anyone!
The pilot was yelling at the person on the crown line to pull (which is also another purpose of a crownline - in situations like this when the wind switches) and you see another person run to help him. It's alot harder to pull with one person than you thinks especially if it's a larger balloon.
Isn't it amazing what a small wind shear can do ^_^

Just a change in wind direction, there is nothing you can do once that happens! you could have 10 people on the crown it would make no difference

Is that a fire?
I've always wanted to jump onto the envelope of one when it's on the ground like that. :)
