Went to a couple spring training games. Couldn't tell much since Dusty kept taking out the main guys in the fifth inning, and putting in the rookies. Didn't see Bruce play at all, Votto had some solid Hits, Phillips was exceptional, chapman did horrible.
soy de mexico y mi equipo de baseball es y sera cincinnati reds.. who makes this wonderful video thanks so much.. you make me cry!! It´s awesome to remember those all times... thanks for de memories.. XOXO
5150VanHalenFan: Dick Wagner single handedly destroyed the Big Red Machine, first by trading away Tony Perez after the '76 series because he was "getting old". Tony was 33. Then he let Rose leave through free agency rather than pay him what he was worth, then he fired Sparky Anderson.
And eventually, Rose, Morgan and Perez won another World series with the Phillies and Sparky won one with the Tigers. Wagner and McNamara? Oh yea, McNamara blew the series as Boston's manager by leaving Bill Bucker in the game rather than put in a defensive replacement. Wagner can rot in hell as far as I am concerned.
The Yankees, Red Sox and other big market teams may be able to buy Championships today, but no team can ever buy what the Reds had in the mid late 70's.
I love my Cincinnati Reds! It was great as a kid to get to see them in the 1990 World Series. Something I will never forget. The final out of game 4 will stay with me forever! Go Red Legs.
It's often forgotten that the Big Red Machine really started in 1970, when the Reds got off to the 70-30 start, and then made it to the WS, only to lose to the equally powerful Orioles. The group consisted of 1B Lee May, 2B Tommy Helms, SS Woody Woodward, 3B Perez, C Bench, OF Rose, Tolan and Carbo/McRae. Loved that team, and was so upset when they traded Lee May. Forturnately, they got Joe Morgan in return and the rest is history.
Damn, THAT's what I'd like to see. Or just a compilation of Bench gunning people down with the lethal composure of a sniper. Maybe staring with him throwing out Mickey Rivers in the first game of the '77 Series: Johnny got up and -- I *swear* this is true -- paused for a fraction of a second, then threw him out by three feet.
Correction : 1976 World series. That's were Bench batted .533 and Sparky came up with the classic line "I don't want to embarass any other catcher (meaning Munson) by comparing him to Johnny Bench". Classic.
Are any of the steroid users being banned from baseball for cheating on the actual baseball field? Is Bud Selig being banned from baseball knowing steroids were being used? Or do you think major league baseball didnt care about the integrity of the game for the sake of the all mighty dollar? PETE ROSE SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR THE LOSS OF HIS CAREER IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL AND HE MUST BE PUT INTO THE HALL OF FAME!
It is hard to fathom at times, just how great that lineup was. Morgon, Charlie, Concepcion, Johnny, Perez, Griffey Sr., Cesar. It's unbeliveable how good they were.
as well as the music works...I just... can't see past it... I love Jurassic Park too much... Perhaps something less known? lol... and what are you trying to say with this video?
Most won't "get" it, but for Reds fans, it speaks for itself. It's essentially just a visual history of the Reds over the past 35 years, and to add text or narration would diminish for those who will appreciate it the most, even if they are a select audience.
I didn't really want to use the Jurassic Park music, because it is so recognizable, but it just fit the images and memories so well.

@hazelwood55 McNamara was another pretty good manager that the Reds let get away. Buckner? Yea I gotta agree, but hindsight is always 20/20

No the redlegs where a NBA Franchise that was in cincinnati till 1975 and the reds where formally know as the red stockings.

Can somebody please tell me what a "Red" is?
Thanks.

They were originally the "Red Stockings" later shortened to "Reds"
stevenortlieb 3 years ago
They were briefly called the "Redlegs" in the early 1950s, so as to avoid being lumped in with the Commies. I'm not making that up.

Has anyone compiled clips of Bench throwing runners out from the crouch, the ball never rising higher than the pitchers head?
