Axl actually sounds pretty good here. In the new Gn'R's shows, I haven't particularly liked his voice, but he's sounding great at this one.

Nope, Axl and Izzy remained good friends actually. Izzy just didn't like that the band got as big as it was! Also, Izzy had gotten cleaned up and was off drugs when they were recording the Illusions, (axl was completely clean of drugs when Appetite got big) and Slash kept trying to get Izzy to fall back into drugs saying that izzy "Wasn't as much fun sober." Izzy felt it to be in his best interest to leave so that he wouldn't fall back into substance abuse. He still plays quite often with Axl.

Remember catching this when it first aired - I like it a lot. TBH let's face it, the classic GnR days have been over since about 1993. If the new line-up weren't any good, they wouldn't be playing festivals like this one. He's managed to find a decent bunch of fellas to finally get things going with (Anyone notice how Dizzy Reed - the percussionist - manaed to stick with the band since 1991? That's good going)

At first Slash left because he did not like the direction the band was taking musically as well as the way concerts were happening... I.E. the St. Louis Riot, Axl showing up late for concerts then slowly everyone else left the band, save for Dizzy. Then a few years later Matt, Izzy, Slash, Duff all played together for a charity gig and felt they still had chemistry and recruited Scott Weiland and they create VE...
