This whole theory about "planted memories" kind of irritates me because it discredits all of the real abuse that people have experienced. Not having an actual memory of an event does not mean it didn't happen. I realize that memories are not absolute but I know for a fact that I experienced a very traumatic event as a child and I have absolutely no memory of it. My mind just shut down on me. But I know for a fact it is real and not planted.

@KeliPwnz Some people are discrediting the story of Sybil as well. I'm not sure what to think. Personally I believe the story but it's tough if there isn't physical proof. Sybil grew up in a town close to where I grew up. It's eerie to read the story and I can imagine it all based on what I know of the town she lived in.

Does anyone know, or have heard, if there is a corelation between abuse and the number of personalities that emerge? I remember seeing the 1950s Hollywood movie, "The Three Faces of Eve" and always wondered, "why three personalities?" Also, what could explain the male personalities in a woman? If the fragmentation of the personality does exist, what would the reason be for one of the opposite sex?
@wade43671, as far as I know there is no correlation. It seems like the host creates personalities that handle different problems. As for a host having an alter of the opposite sex, there are numerous reasons for this: a girl being abused by her father may wish to be a boy, so he would leave her alone, a boy who is abused by his mother could wish the same, maybe a girl would create a male persona to protect her. I suspect it's different for everyone. Read The Flock. It's good at explaining this.
@wade43671 the opposite sex might be "stronger' not likely to be abused "ie boys don't get abused" not true. The capacity to dissociate might be partly an inborn trait and might have something to do with how much someone dissociates. Abuse is the trigger and does play it's part.

I was mentally, physically, and sexually abused from 3-12 years old. And there were no SS records of anything that happened to me. I even told friends, and I went to school with bruises. Teachers may notice, but they may keep it a secret. I was even confronted about the scars on my arm, and yet no SS were called. I have no records of what happened to me as a child, just my own memories. I do believe they can be repressed, though. It makes life easier.

Some psychologist are just skeptical, and others are trying to cover up evil because they are evil themselves. Sybil grew up in a town close to where I grew up. It's eerie to read the story and I can imagine it all based on what I know of the town she lived in.

Does anyone know, or have heard, if there is a corelation between abuse and the number of personalities that emerge? I remember seeing the 1950s Hollywood movie, "The Three Faces of Eve" and always wondered, "why three personalities?" Also, what could explain the male personalities in a woman? @wade43671, as far as I know there is no correlation. It seems like the host creates personalities that handle different problems. As for a host having an alter of the opposite sex, there are numerous reasons for this: a girl being abused by her father may wish to be a boy, so he would leave her alone, a boy who is abused by his mother could wish the same, maybe a girl would create a male persona to protect her. I suspect it's different for everyone. Read The Flock. It's good at explaining this.

I figured "Brenda" was the one who suffered the abuse. Karl tries to escape the memory, but Brenda is the one who has the information about it. I think Adam and William are representatons of something specific about the abuse suffered at those ages.

Ritual abuse exists outside of the Satanic Panic of the 80s - I don't think it should be a leap to understand extreme, structured abuse exists. According to a 2008 survey of British care agencies and charities, of the 31 government and volunteer agencies, 24 were at the time working with ritualised abuse survivors. I have had personal experience with these survivors also.

I was mentally, physically, and sexually abused from 3-12 years old. And there were no SS records of anything that happened to me. I even told friends, and I went to school with bruises. Teachers may notice, but they may keep it a secret. I was even confronted about the scars on my arm, and yet no SS were called. I have no records of what happened to me as a child, just my own memories. I do believe they can be repressed, though. It makes life easier.

Sorry, Doctor but it has been proven that when a person with DID switches personalities there is an actual physical change in the body. The brain works the same but the heart rate changes and so does the muscle tension. So yeah...your body becomes different than it's usual state and as far as I'm concerned everything that they say happens psychologically does happen to them. Idk if Helen is faking but the disorder is 100% possible. If the brain says that something is real then it's real.

The doctor at 5:53 obviously doesn't know what he his talking about. Traumatic events can create all sort of things, including way too clear memories (like you can feel it and see it all happening again), but also amnesia, where the brain just erases it all. I've seen it more than once.

@guzsaj I've been researching conspiracy theories about this kind of stuff and more for 3 years .... it all fits, somehow ... there are a lot of cases of child abuse and cover-ups. Are you familiar with the Holly Greig case? Ufology? There is evil, and then there is the cover-up of the evil. But, you're right, it could be scepticism. But I believe the conspiracies and the cover-ups are real, because of the experiences of people whom I know personally. Keep on learning, my friend. :)

@guzsaj I agree with you. I think some people have mental problems and false memories. Other people were abused (some by satanic cults, some by other people). Some psychologist are just skeptical, and others are trying to cover up evil because they are evil themselves. Still, I think other people with multiple disorders may be possessed by demons (I know many of you may think I'm evil or crazy for saying this, but I think some cases may be such).

I used to know someone with D.I.D. Why does "Satanism" always get dragged into it? The person who abused her was her male parent. I have known several people who have been sexually abused as children and in every single case it was always a relative. I do not doubt the abuse, but i doubt completely "Satanic" abuse.

So let me get this straight: very little is known about DID, the human psyche, and it's nearly impossible to know EVERYTHING about the human mind, since we are such complex social beings, yet, this guy knows for absolute certain that you can't bury memories. How the hell can anyone actually prove that their memories are real or false to you? Especially if you think they're full of shit when they try to tell you what they found out.
