I think pointillism is fantastique! It is a lot of effort. One of George Seurat's famous paintings took two years to complete!! C'est du gros travail!
Thanks you very much for posting this art work. I learned of pointilism and Seurat today. I Googled pointilism and found this entry. It continues to amazes me the information I can find on the internet.
I heard about pointillism and Georges Seurat for the first time today, 11/2/09, when the executive pastor of my church mentioned it in a sermon. Then tonight I was viewing art by Henry Lee Battle and on his website he had other expressions of arts and the artists. One was pointillism and some works of George Seurate. That is when I Googled pointillism and saw this Youtube entry.
The work is just beautiful. Too bad I could not view the pieces up close and see the dots. But thank you much.
i went to the art institute and saw SUNDAY. it was amazing. just seeing all those millions of dots and then standing back and seeing all the colors. reminded me why i love art so much :]
Yes the placement of all those little dots and dashes does seem to be daunting does it not? I hope you are getting to start off on a small scale! Get a magnifying glass and look at your tv, check out the pixels and notice that all the colors on the tv are made up of little dots. What you see as simply green is made up of more than just one color. Good luck, try to let it be fun and not think of it as work!
Seurat was a pontillist. Pontillist painted by using dots to represent images the painting looks like only dots of color when up close, but when you stand back the dots blend together to make a picture. Newspaper print is similar. Look closely at a comic strip and you will see many dots, but back away and all you see is the images and not the dots! Thank you for your comment and your question! I loooove questions!
