There is also quite a bit of effort required to keep a ANY car going in a straight line when the car is going close to 200mph. Your mom's beetle's tires aren't even capable of that speed without exploding. If you did manage to overcome all the hurdles to getting the beetle to 180+mph, there is NOTHING volkswagon put into the beetle that would make it safer than the 'Vette

The Corvette wheel-base is several inches longer than the Cobalt, it's also quite a bit wider, so the blunt fact is that Cobalt suspension pieces simply wouldn't fit, the tie-rods and steering sections wouldn't be long enough. Plus the Cobalt is FWD, the Corvette being RWD already means it's going to have alot of parts any FWD car wont, trailing arms, etc.
@zlevesque1 they only thing the coboalt and the corvette have in comon is the stearing wheel the frame is compleetly differnt. If some one is argueing they are alike he/she might be arguing from a verry basic stance.

I had posted a previous comment stating that the underbody and suspension is really one off some sort of cheverlet manufactered stock, daily driver car (like the one of a chevy cobalt). I have no idea if this is true but I would love to put some time into digging deeper. By the way, when you buy a stock corvette, you are really paying for the engine. The engines on these cars are amazing but the handling quality is poor.
@niceboy60 They're a hard car to drive, look at the AC Cobras of the 60s. They're designed for race drivers to have on a closed course. The Cobras were nearly impossible for untrained drivers to handle because of how unforgiving they were when a mistake was made. Z06 Vettes especially are the same way, if you mess up and get it out of shape, it will. not. save. itself. If you miss a mark or do something stupid in one of these cars they WANT to hurt you.
@weaverracing96 And I'd like to add, that's what I like about them. They're not electronically-assisted to the point where a joe-schmoe can climb in one with no prior training and set fast laps. They're a driver's car and that's why there are so many crashes because it takes a very specific skillset to really dig into their potential.

@irishkerry You're an idiot. How many 24 Hours of Le Mans has Corvette finished 1 - 2 in? 25? 26? I've lost count. The C6.R is LEGENDARY already. Worst built sports car ever? It walks all over the Porshes, Ferrarris, Lamborghinis, and such in it's class. The only car that gives it consistant competition in GT1 is the Aston Martin. If you don't like new vettes, that's fine. But at least learn the facts about them, they have been dominating road racing for the past however many years.

If anything, any Corvette driver out there has some balls to be driving a fiberglass car knowing that he is in more risk of dying in his car. Go back on the history to Corvettes, it's got so many great traditions. The name alone is history(Do your research). Of course a road car will be different than the track car!!!

@niceboy60 I agree. This may be something to look into. I had posted a previous comment stating that the underbody and suspension is really one off some sort of cheverlet manufactered stock, daily driver car (like the one of a chevy cobalt). I have no idea if this is true but I would love to put some time into digging deeper. By the way, when you buy a stock corvette, you are really paying for the engine. The engines on these cars are amazing but the handling quality is poor.

@niceboy60 They're a hard car to drive, look at the AC Cobras of the 60s. They're designed for race drivers to have on a closed course. The Cobras were nearly impossible for untrained drivers to handle because of how unforgiving they were when a mistake was made. Z06 Vettes especially are the same way, if you mess up and get it out of shape, it will. not. save. itself. If you miss a mark or do something stupid in one of these cars they WANT to hurt you.

@weaverracing96 And I'd like to add, that's what I like about them. They're not electronically-assisted to the point where a joe-schmoe can climb in one with no prior training and set fast laps. They're a driver's car and that's why there are so many crashes because it takes a very specific skillset to really dig into their potential.
