I'm still experimenting around. It seems that Youtube prefers mpeg4 files. I got Adobe Premiere Elements and will try to upload some video as mpeg4 files.
Here are some tips from DeafVideodottv:
# Compress to .mov or mp4 format
# Avoid Windows Movie Maker
# The size should be the YouTube-native size of 320×240 (QVGA)
# Set the bit-rate to between 700kbps and 1000kbps. See below picture.
One neg is in order to use the firewire port, the battery has to be removed and the cam plugged in the electrical wall socket. Minor annoyance there though. The provided battery only lasts for 40 minutes so I bought a longer lasting OEM battery from Bestbatt. It'll last about three hours or more depending. It was $29 (the equivalent panasonic batt is $80!)
40 minutes!?!?!?!?! wow thats terrible. i ordered it online today at circuit city for $199!!! i couldn't resist. the picture quality looks really good, and im guessing its better since youtube compresses the video.
actually it is 318 curves in 11 mile stretch :)

Glad you got a good deal at Circuit City!
Yes, quality is so-so due to Youtube. I was using Windows Movie Maker and uploading to Youtube in a wmv file.

The pluses are the OIS and price.

I like it very very much. It is my first camcorder and my first experience of this video hobby.
Read the reviews at Amazon. It is now priced at $225 with free shipping! Mines was $249.
