Newsted was the man. Robert Trujillo is an amazing player but I always prefered Newsted. Amazing musician. He played with Metallica recently but I haven't seen the perfomance yet.

i play bass and im also not all that fond of using a pick BUT i have used it on occasion. it gives the bass a completely different timbre. similar to what pedals to for guitars. if thats the sound he was going for then thats what he got. personally i think robert trujillo was a huge improvement for the band

I don't hate them. I know what the built for the later music and I appreciate the part they had in the history of music itself. I just think that they're boring, they sold their ass off after Cliff's gone and Trujillo is technically ok, but he has nothing to do with thrash metal. He's just ridicule when playing.

And you can't use a pick to play an arpeggio on bass, you must be retard. Or you use fingers, or you use a guitar. No way.

For the bass solo,with or without a pic the sound slicely change(not technically)(the difference between Newsted and Trujillo).

Cliff had a lot to do with Mettalicas sound and added melody and structure to their music. But if you really know Cliff Burton and Metallica. You know he was a sloppy player. I LOVE CLIFF! But Jason and Robert are a lot cleaner. However there would be no Jason or Robert with out Cliff. SUCK IT!!!
