  • save it as GIF or PNG file, JPG does not support transparent background

  • @axe3 thanks! So that's why when I save it to jpg background turns white again!

    I just saw your comment!

  • is there a way u can save just the image without having a white background when u save as like a jpg. because i'm trying to get just the image onto a website. but keeps poping up with a white background with the image on it enstead of just the image.

  • thanx, this helped alot..now when i design graphics it will be easier to create my graphix without having to have a PSD

  • thanks.

  • Thankyou :)

  • Or you could use the pen/path tool and avoid any messy edges to begin with. That and this doesn't work so well with lighter colours near white.

Pen/Path tool, use it, love it.

Why went I open adobe photoshop cs4 it will open the license agreement everytime?

I click the button accept but it will appear everytime?

    Sorry for my english..

  • Thats sweet man thanks.

  • Thank you.. will this be the same on my mac?

  • What about deleting the white background so when I copy and paste into InDesign the white doesn't show up?...cuz I delete the background in Photoshop then it re-appears in InDesign

  • thanks for the very informative yet simple how-to

  • works great for me best way I have seen so far

  • where do you get those backgrounds ???

  • don't work for me, but thanks

  • im just starting and for the most part i understand the moving but im having an issue with using the tool selections they do not ingage when i choose them cs4 how do i do that...

  • Cheers (:

  • wow fasinating learning about history, and the hidden objects most people missed lol

  • This isn't working

  • You said "Start by pressing ...?"

  • "q" man... ;)

  • maybe you should learn the ins and outs of Photoshop before teaching. This image's background could have been erased so quickly with channels.

  • The layer mask didn't even do anything at all relevant to deleting, also using the eraser is a sloppy way of removing backgrounds, really you should be using the pen tool or maybe the lasso tool if its a simple image

  • funny fucker, HOP OFF

  • how do u insert that picture into another photoshop document u have been working on for example i am making a backround and have made it but all i need is a picture in it,how do i do it??????????//

  • thanks! works well

  • this don't make any sense! you seem to have gone around this simple tutorial the long way around, if there had been a background full of trees, or even similar color objects, it would have been much harder to achieve, and much better as a tutorial, just about everyone knows how to do something this simple.

  • now do the same with hair with a complicated background, the above image is easy to lift from a white back ground, this was just to easy.

  • Look At My "How To Remove BackGround Tutorial" It's Much Easier Than This Lol.... Ill Post A Video Response Or You Can Look For It On My Channel

  • Could someone please help. i just got photoshop CS4 but every time I import an image it just has loads of bits cut out and it has loads of white lines on it.

  • 10x man , you helped me alot

and 10x for the little fun education fact :P

  • did everything like he said but control d does nothing

  • CTRL+D deselects the selection that you have at that moment

  • great fun fact :)

  • why dont u just use the magic wand tool and press delete?

  • because not all pictures are gonna have a solid background where you can just select it with the magic wand tool

  • yeah.....i dont get that either wats the point of even masking it?

  • Hey Dude Where do you get your Wallpapers? they're awesome!

  • i think he makes them.

  • i feel like an iddiot but ,, when i go on , i insert the picture , then click q , then nothing happens , it doesnt let me use any of the options at the side , theya re there . but they just dotn work . some please help me ..

  • wow...funny comment by you and thanks for the tut..you make it look so easy.

  • Thanks!

Also LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO @ your background. I love it!

  • where do u get ur hilarious backgrounds

  • hahaha white and stupid that sound like a racist comment XD

  • I need that desktop backround plz linkit

  • Why not use the magic wand on the background, invert selection, and Layer via Cut? That seems to work a lot faster than this method.

  • rofl easy and quick ;D 5/5

  • put ur desktop pic link in description plz its so funny

  • dude, where do you get all your back grounds? XD

  • i prefer using the pen tool

  • Why not just use the magic eraser in the first place, or magic wand and delete?

  • Kevin can i have your background =[

  • Me too!

  • I have no idea they used that belt when they killed Lincoln :O

  • it was a joke

  • Ye i know and i was sarcastic :)

  • That whole bit (in quick mask mode) in the beginning was completely useless. Ctrl+D deselects the selection, so pressing delete afterwords would do nothing. Plus, he just uses the magic eraser in the end anyways....

  • hahahaha!!! GREAT wallpaper!!!

  • Backgroundddd

  • Once i've saved the picture as a JPEG, the white background is still there... any help ?

  • save it as a png image instead

  • Ahaa thank you guys :)

  • You have to save it as a PNG. JPEG won't work.

  • save it as PNG.
