On the label it said it was make in China in the early 1990's. This tent first appeared in te Northface 1996 Equipment brochure under High Altitude Tents Single wall. And is on the cover of the 1997 catoluge.

The same model was used on the Big Wall Climbing expedition in 1995 in the Ak Su region of Kygyzstan's Pamir mountain range.

The best tents today are the Mountain Hardwear EV2 and EV3. They kick butt.

We brought 3 Tempest all end up with the same problem. WATER leaking from the tent`s top anchorage straps. We need the tent to stay upright through thunder storm which it did due to internal pole and reinforcement. We cut off the strap at top and patch it with duct tape!! The rest is fine. They don`t make tents like these no more. Bilber may compete but is gone now.

Thanks for stopping by. It's a great single wall tent.The NF make it for about 3 years back in the mid 1990's. The demand was not big enough, so the stopped making it.

It has 3 poles. 2 are internal. 1 external. Weights about 7 pounds. Take about 12 minutes to set up. The first time is the hardest, but after that it a breeze. Yes it fits 2. It's been on Rainier, Adams and Hood.

If you can find one used, go for it!. The only tent that comes close or out performs this is the EV2 or EV3
