Check out my newly posted video, I show my poor man's DC shunt that you can set your meter to measure mili volts and you get the amps. I've posted the web sites that I found the info an hod to build it. I used 12 gauge colid copper wire the kind used in house wiring. it might work for you! kept me from spending $50 on a DC amp gauge!!
You can get an amp meter at any auto store, $12-15. You can lighten up on you wire connecting the plates to your unit to 10ga stranded, from your battery to your circuit breaker, to your relay to your amp meter. The juice will go through the amp meter and onto the unit. Have you tried changing your power input to see if there is a change in production, 4n-3p to 4p-3n. another concept is that only 1.5-2volts is needed to crack water. each gap devides the voltage evenly, 5 neutrals.
Thanks for the info. I have tried 4p-3n, 3neutrals,4n-3p 4neutrals and every other which way. I am pretty happy with the way this cell is preforming for now.
I am going to build a new 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 cell. With this one I will try some other configurations.
your unit will act differently in your car under 13.7 volts. make sure you adjust your KOH to take into account the higher voltage. you will draw more amps and your water will run hotter
Clamp meter is easier to work with, but a shunt should be fine also.
I am not sure you can get the inexpensive Sears Clamp meter anymore. Model 82369
The alternate part for the same meter (i.e. different brand) is Extech MA220. If you look around you can find it for something like $79, but mostly it sells for $99.
Whatever meter you decide, make sure it can measure "DC" amps. Many inexpensive clamp meters only can measure "AC" amps and not "DC" amps.
Hey luther, I made a flow meter like yours. I will have it in the works hopefully in the next video. Thanks for your vid on it. I can't wait to use it.
As for me getting a clamp meter in the near future. I am going to have to wait. :(
welcome to the club .you need a ac/dc clamp amp meter first to read your amps accurately, you need to build a hho meter also.precision is the key in order to know your data .
You have to put a regular meter inline or use a shunt. A clamp on AD/DC multimeter is way easier! Sears has them, the same place the battery charger came from in your video :0)
regular meter without a shunt you cannot pass 10 amps i recommend that you go with the sears clamp meter save a lot of wasted money as i did and easier to yous.
About the same. Not sure. New at this and am learning how to hook up my meters. Would like someone to make a video on "How to hook up your meters to a drycell".
So , the neutrals connect to nothing ???
except elytrolite

Yes, I do plan on making a larger water reservoir for the car. More water, longer to warm up. KOH will be adjusted accordingly.
Thanks for the heads up.

Looks like you're learning fast! Keep up the good work. Don't forget to calculate the MMW (millimeter a minute per watt). 12Vx16A=192W
500ml/33seconds=15.2ml/sec 15.2ml/sec x60sec=912ml 912mm/192w=4.75mmw 4.75 mmw!!

Sorry milliliter (not millimeter)

Built the HHO meter. Now I have to get the ac/dc clamp meter. Cant you use a regular meter?

Does your DMM read the same amps as your charger reads.

Until then I am still looking and learning.

My next video I will show clearly how my meters are I'll do two DMM ,no analoge and if I'm not right I can get some help too.
