Let's not forget Victor Bolka the only pilot to ever receive a DECORATION from the other side. 15 year old Victor flew over a canal over Belgium 2 boy waving with great enthusiastic zeel. One feel into the Canal. Bolka landed behind enemy lines, and jumped in,and saved the boys life, then took back off to fight. The Brussels Air Marshal Awarded him their highest honer. As for Manfred, his funeral tell of his compassion for other who flew against him. Gentleman of Honor, were, and are a rare find!
Lot of negative digs on the movie but the planes depicted were authentic, even if computer enhanced. The Albatross were sheen plywood bodies that many aviators didn't paint over. And I love the actual "rotory Ober" engines on the Fokkers, which spun with the props. And of course, Voss's triplane that was sky-blue color with green streaks all over it and the "kaiser" face on the cowl. 30 yr US Navy Aviation vet and we used to paint our A-7E's wild squadron colors like this...sigh

Just seen the film and searched for information on the Red Baron and found this clip. Loved the film and the song and images work really effectively Well done 'Glowy Girl' :)
In one particular dog fight, Richtofen was mixing it up with a fellow who's guns jammed. The Ritzmeister forced him to land, and then landed beside him. He then ran over, shook the fellows hand, then climbed in his plane (Probably his Albatross D3, or D5,) and flew off, leaving the fellow sitting there. We never expect such acts from soldiers-LET ALONE the "Bloody" Red Baron. Just thought that I'd share that.
@TheKahliff You know I heard a similar story from someone I know. His great grandfather was a pilot and he was doing a patrol around an air base when he came across the Red Baron flying alone. He set his guns on him and charged. But his guns jammed, so he was literally standing in the cockpit hitting his guns with a hammer to unjam them, scared to death he literally pissed his pants. The Red Baron saw this and simply passed by, he said he saw the Red Baron laughing his ass off in the cockpit.
Thanks. This is a wonderful tribute to an intriguing fellow. As he was my hero for most of my life, I really liked the way that this new movie humanized him. He was just a soldier doing his job. He wasn't the goofy Goose-stepping stereotype that the west wants to see him as. I have heard some amazing stories about him. I'll share one that I am researching.
Nice vid and great song (althought i`m a metal listener). Great vid glowlygirl.

Manfred von Richthofen is the greatest flying ace in history.
He was loved by many and feared by everyone else.
Today, he is a hero to us all.

@TheKahliff THAT IS BECAUSE HE IS A PROPER PRUSSIAN WHO WANTS TO FIGHT THE WAR WITH SOME BLOODY CHIVIALRY.
UNLIKE THOSE BLOODY NAZIS WHO GIVE GOOD HARD WORKING GLORIAS PRUSSIANS A BAD NAME.
