  • Normally, I'm a huge tool too, and I would make a joke regarding a potato being a camera but that makes no fucking sense at all

  • Comment removed

  • Did I just watch a slideshow? -___-

  • Roddick suddenly so teamed at the end, goes: "Whats wrong with you?" ..like biggest gay in the world.. he is scared to be called a racist..

  • Stop complaining about the quality. It was 3 years ago and I used a crappy digital camera. I don't think this great footage can be found anywhere else.

  • @cashdudehomie Thank you for the transcript. It helps alot. Btw I hate that umpire ha

  • Roddick is a dickfucker.

  • What calculator did you use to record this video?

  • Roddick is such an a** for this one. The call was made and corrected, and the umpire apologized, but he wants to keep berating him. Terrible. I could see if the ball was completely in the deuce box, but it clearly clipped the farthest outside corner of the box. ANY umpire would have called that out and only Hawkeye got it in by the slimmest of margins (and even Hawkeye has its margin of error).

Maybe it's karma that he's never going to win anything of note again. lol.

  • @JayCroix Not really, as there is a review, normally umpires dont overrule at the far side of the court unless they are 100% sure.

  • i swear youtube tennis comments on crappy videos are funnier than any comments you will read anywhere else.

  • who cares about the fucking quality what you need to see roddick's crotch in hd?

  • if i had a nickel for every pixel in this video, i'd have one nickel

  • @stinger77100 No you would have 1080 Nickels

  • the last 10 seconds is hilarious

  • what happen????!! i dont get it :(

  • did you record this while going through an earthquake? what the fuk man

  • black and white quality is better than dis shit

  • Bernardes is a terrible umpire. Why do so many people like this guy?

  • @crazyboyxx so true man

  • 1:51

    Roddick: What's wrong with you?!?!

    Umpire: I'm sorry dude ._.

  • best quality

  • i think roddick was right for trying to play good tennis. he had every right to get angry at the ump

  • @MYBIGKINDHEART Are you kidding? Look up Federer man, he swears with the best of them at umps!

  • isn't it amazing how you never see nadal or federer blowing the roof and insead just consentrate on the next point

  • @MYBIGKINDHEART I have seen both of them get angry and argue several times, sometimes not even having a good reason. At least Roddick has a good reason to get angry sometimes.

  • In my opinion (unless I've been mislead from the audio, couldn't hear it too well) he was kind of acting like Mcenroe, getting mad at the umpire, it kind of does.

  • terrible audio

  • thumbs up if u think the umpire looks like Denzel Washington :D

  • Roddick is one of the biggest douchebags around. Huge asshole.

  • well anyone that thinks roddick is disrespectful should try meeting his mother. she's a complete bitch. he was always a spoiled brat, his brother is the same way.

  • @morganlogan

hahah, hey, i'll admit it man, you're absolutely right, I did misread your comment. Doesn't stop roddick from being a dick from my judgment though, it's not the first time i've seen roddick get overworked on something like this and get a little off the top.

  • that second time with roddick was uncall for, i would have called it myself, it was on the far side line, but placed in. you challenged and ( got the point). the end

  • 37 ppl don't believe shotspot and still believe the serve was out

  • @BriSoFly13

    that really bad

  • After apologising once, Id change tact when Roddick continues to berate. Something like, "Andy, I apologised, thats the end of it", "deal with it and move on", "whining like a little petulent child isnt helping", "and incidentally I resent the insinuation of you calling me a cheat", "drop it, now.

I'll be happy to deal with this after the match face to face.

Of course I'd want to say more.

Let the little upstart know you aren't weak. All hes doing here is capitalizing on the umpires meekness.

  • @outofslumber Wow , you are ready to be an umpire now .... CONGRATULATIONS !!!!

  • @superlucas010578

    Thanks!

Only what im talking about has fuck all to do with tennis and everything to do with bullying, intimidation, showing of strength and position of authority, and how Id use it. A few choice words and Roddicks ego would have shrunk like his balls were plonked in a cup of ice water.

What youre doing is just trying to be a smart arse.

The only thing you suceeded in, was being a twat!

    deserved CONGRATS!!

  • Roddick is such a douche. I guess it's karma that he's going bald now :)

  • Roddick what a BABY.

  • what a smart ass, needed to learn some manners

  • you can tell by the transcript that the ump was clearly put off and trying to make a point after being challenged (rightfully so) for not calling a clear case of crowd interference. in the split second of reading roddick's serve, how is the returner supposed to tell the diff between "out" from a dumbass in the crowd and a linesman? i'm not saying he did it to punish andy, but he clearly wanted to use that serve to make a point that he didn't have his head up his ass. (clear backfire)

  • Ump is such a jerk

  • Roddick got an awesoem serve:D

  • Roddick's an arrogant and rude prick.

  • you want some cheese with that whine andy? want us to call the waaaambulance?

  • I agree with Rodick on this one

  • Settle down Andy. You won the point. Carlos Bernandes is one of the best umpires in the business. So he made a mistake. That's why there are is the challenge system.

  • @davd1986

    "So he made a mistake"

overruling on the far side like that is not making a mistake, its being a dumbass.

  • I don't know the ump's name, but he often officiates the top ATP matches. He's usually rock-solid.

  • hahahahaha ok...hahahahahhah k...hahahahhah

  • But Roddick never threatened to kill somebody. You should see Serena Williams' tirade at USO 2009 SF

  • fucking shit vid

  • Roddick has no class! He bitches at all umps!

  • Wait, what ball was called out? All of the shots looked way in.

  • I don't know why you people don't think Andy's reaction isn't warranted here. All they have to do is be fair and call their calls. It isn't that difficult, yet their attitude has an effect on the game that these players care so much about.

  • we all know A-Rod is a prick when it comes to umpires

  • he way better now that's for sure!

  • RODDICK HAS ALWAYS BEEN A DICK

  • tennis brings the worst out of people

  • Wow Andy isn't wrong, you guys are so sensitive. The ump handled it well by apologizing, but Andy had the right to vent in this situation, that was a dick call.

  • roddick has alwats been a spoiled, bratty, ass. Even when he was in juniors.

  • HOLY SHIT!

    what a serve!!!!!! XD

  • Andy's wrong here. As it turns out, the ball was just barely in, and so it was reasonable for the umpire to think it was out and overrule. Whether Andy made a nice gesture before this makes no difference. Should he get special treatment by the linesman now that he's such a nice guy?

  • I honestly think roddick is a good player but for some reason he can't shine like the best players of all time. Yes, his serve is powerful but most players don't find it too hard to return it, his net play is weak so his strong serve suffers from this, and his forehand isnt as penetrating as nadal's and fed's.

But he is a great guy though

  • At least this judge changed his ruling, unlike Mariana Alves....

  • What's WRONG with you??

  • People can't hear jack >> Nor are they smart enough to realize what the /actual argument/ was about. It's pretty much a bunch of Roddick-Hater Bandwagon idiots who probably didn't even play the video again to realize what the problem really was.

Don't mind the Roddick haters. Haters period are always blind to actual logical thinking.

  • God...thank you for that comment!!!

  • did andy win the match?

  • Isn't this the same umpire that screwed Pete Sampras in the other video?

  • @dhyrumvaughn I don't think so. I believe the one is this video is Carlos Bernandes, who's generally a very good umpire.

  • wow, great quality

  • If I was Roddick I would have just smiled with satisfaction after the replay like, "Haha I win, don't do it again!"

  • ok people!!! the serve was in, the ump was wrong all andy did was criticize the ump for his bad call, i agree with andy the ump was on the other side of the court how the hell can he tell!?!?

  • this incident needs to end with the music from curb your enthusiasm.

    also: lol @ "I did a mistake"

  • some of you guys are so fucked in the head he was right wach the vid u brain dead fucks

  • andy rodick is the biggest bitch in tennis...whining about stupid shit...

  • no djockivich is

  • roddick is a moron

    screw you andy

  • wtf replaying the point is againts the rules and andy was completely right

  • Roddick who??

  • andy roddicks a dick. he wants the respect for the replay but he expects it to be handed to him "ill let you try again but yr not allowed to win it ok"

  • shut the fuck up, he was so right about what he said..

  • bull, the umpire handled it like any other point and andy didnt like it. he wanted a pseudo point that gets handed to him cos he's so nice. well if thats what he wanted then he's not really offering to replay it and he's not being gracious at all.

  • double bull. its generally not appropriate for the chair to make an overrule on the far side line when the ball lands that close to the lines.

Its unothodox to do such a thing.

  • the problem is thats not why he took issue with the call, he had a problem bcos he wanted the point to be handed to him bcos of his generousity

  • no it's more about tht fact that it's a bad mistake... and it's a bum rap...

  • no andy said to the umpire he was mad cos he made the call on a point he offered to replay

  • @butterflycaught900 yeh what a faggot roddick is he blows up cos ppl dont see magnamimous he is lol

  • im sick of low ranked comments being blocked, i dont need youtube to be my fucking nanny

  • Andy's a bitch.

  • What in the world? If he chooses to replay the point, that means REPLAYING the point...from neutral! Why does he expect a favor? It was his own choice to replay it...the umpire's just doing his job. Made a mistake, but it happens. Come on now, Andy...

  • I love Roddick and he was right, the umpire had no right to call that serve on the far side of the court.

  • wait dude i dont get why andy's so mad

so andy agrees to reply the point

and then the next point its in but the umpire thought it was out and over rules that

    so he made a mistake

    why is andy so mad?

  • there is no reason that an UMP should over rule the line judge who is standing right there... ESPECIALLY if it is CROSS court.

  • I know I would've been mad at the ump if something like this happened to me, I can't blame Roddick

  • cant understand roddicks "replay argument" here. just because it was his choice to replay a point he expected the ump to be "on his side" for that point? if you replay a point everything is seen totally neutral, not regarding if that point is replayed or not. so if the ump thinks its out, he calls out. if you dont share that opinion, challenge. thats what the hawk eye is here for. ump made a mistake, but no reason to be mad because you let that point replay.

  • good comment. Roddick is a bit full of himself, erratic

  • I really like Roddick, but he did go a little overboard here... Carlos Bernardes is a good umpire, I've never seen him overruled...

  • wow, normally i have a lot of respect for roddick but damn, he was just a dick here.

  • he has got to be under alot of stress.

and they didn't see that replay at the time, that was when it was put on TV.

if I didn't have that transcipt on the side, I would have thought that the umpire was trying to get back at Roddick for stalling the game and getting onto the reff for something that should be a let.

  • fair point, tennis players are under a lot of stress. But that's no excuse for acting ridiculously, as Roddick did. Replay? Excuse me? That's an official review for Roddick's challenge. It confirms that Roddick was right. Roddick should recognize how close he was to being out just by looking at how close it was to the far sideline; he's an experienced player. He acted like a jerk, even when the ump continuously apologized.

  • @FunkadelicMaestro makes me feel sorry for the ump. He's just trying to do his job right. People make mistakes.

  • @FunkadelicMaestro You must not know much about tennis and how an umpire should NEVER overrule the opposite side of the court unless it's blatantly obvious.

  • @morganlogan You must not know much about literacy, because you clearly didn't read what i wrote very well my friend.

  • @FunkadelicMaestro My response makes complete sense in response to your comment. You made a statement with no explanation or reasoning behind it so I took it as being about the most obvious thing in the video. Please try to say I don't know much about literacy when you couldn't string an intelligent comment to begin with, Buddy.

  • @morganlogan exaccctly. yeah roddick got worked up but fair enough. the umpire's basically saying he can see better than roddick even though he's in a way worse position. that's gotta be insulting

  • Carlos Bernardes is one of the top 3 umpires in the world with Lars Graff and Mohammed L. He made a call, got it wrong. So what? He seemed to have apologised profusely for it as well. Just because it's on the far sideline doesn't mean he can't make a call. And it was one close call. Andy would have sent a better message with a wry smile in Bernardes' direction. It doesn't help anything to berate the umpire to no end in that situation. It probably made him even more nervous on the next call.

  • that is the most amazing ace ever

    in-out on both sides haha

  • i don't understand it????

  • Wow. Sucks for Roddick.

  • the umpire is carlos bernardes =D..

    great match!

  • good job cilic!!...he won this one!!

  • that was probably the best placed serve of all time!

  • Roddick is right here, you don't overrule unless you're absolutely sure, it can't be that close with a serve going that fast. But Roddick is usually an asshole to umpires, shows no respect. I actually think McEnroe was better to the umpires than Roddick, because Mac was always right. He had the best eyes in the business, he knew when the ball was in or out, and the umps back then were such assholes they'd never even get up and check the mark if it was a clay court.

  • Call Roddick all the names you want, he's rich, he has a great job, he's famous, and he has a freaking hot wife. So stfu, alright?

  • I'd like to be roddick

  • lol, what's wrong with you?

So just because someone is rich, famous, and bangs a hot girl, no one should comment on his behavior?

Way to go moron! I bet you are one of those guys jacking off on roddick's wife, thinking she is yours:))

  • i could'nt hear what was going on could someone tell me? sounds too low

  • Push more info. I just added a transcript. There was a lot of echo at the stadium and it made it even worse when I recorded it.

  • thanks for doing that :) now I get what was going on.

  • roddick was totally right... i'd be pissed too

  • I still think Andy was rude, whether the umpire was wrong or not.

  • abusing an umpire is obviously not the right thing to do (especially not "what's wrong with you"), but as a competitve tennis player i can understand his reaction

  • Whatever, you see this in all sports. Andy was right, and obviously frustrated. He's actually gracious, considerate player and you see a lot more whining from players from other countries in Tennis. You're ignorant, this kind of stuff happens alot in tennis.

  • nope, doesn't happen a lot. he was swearing at the umpire like he owed him something.

whatever, i'm a huge roddick fan and his younger, dumber days won't change that.

  • I'm British and find that offensive

  • i'm not british and i don't give a fuck.

also, i can't explain myself since i can't see what i wrote, so.

  • fair enough

  • Normally an ump shouldn't overrule on the far side like that, but that ball was barely in and it can be understood why he called it out. The fact that Roddick was a good sport and replayed the original point should have no bearing on what the ump does when the point is replayed--that would be unfair to the other guy. That's why Hawkeye exists. Roddick maybe should be angry about him calling a ball out on the opposite side, but he did not deserve special treatment because he asked for a let.

  • @timmyteoUF No, the umpire should only overrule if he is 100% sure that the ball is out. The ump said that it was his mistake when Andy called him out...the ump should not have overruled that call.

  • @timmyteoUF absolutely true.

  • @timmyteoUF agreed

  • The bright side wins.

    The dark side loses.

  • well lets be honest here, it was in only by a CM. that is a very close call.

  • Right i agree, but the point is if it is a really close call on the far side of the court, the ump should not be overruling the line judges call... and if you have the stones to overrule it, you better be right... and obviously he wasn't. That just makes him look terrible and Roddicks comments were dead on in this case.

  • i see and concur

  • i dont get what just happened here?

  • Roddick demands to replay a point he won because of a fan distracting his opponent. On the replay, the umpire overrules Roddick's ace on the far sideline. Roddick snaps on the umpire and owns him with the Hawkeye challenge.

  • loll

  • same

  • Whats wRONg with you

  • LOLOL i was gonna comment saying that =P

  • no good deed goes unpunished.

  • not the first time this umpire made a bad call.... u see him in lots of other videos where players get mad at him (same umpire) and it hink roddick more than once

  • oh and look at the roddick vs hewitt bad overule one, thats why roddick is so angry here. he hates it when ref overule far size, and that match there was no hawkeye back then

  • i cant hear a fkin thing!

  • agreed!

  • Turn up the volume and watch my new John McEnroe video. It's hilarious.

  • omg i love this i ws there.. i was the ballboy in the top right hand corner.. i tried so hard not laugh.

  • Carlos Bernardes is a great umpire.

  • Pretty sure his name is Carlos Ramos!

  • No way! It's Carlos Bernardes;)

  • haha WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!

  • people complain about Andy's behavior to chair umpires but the fact is he never takes something that he doesn't earn, he's no cheater.

  • i agree, he is one of the fairest players I've ever seen in my life. Roddick is just 100% no bullshit

  • Building sensors into the lines would make calls so much easier.. (buahaha patent that crap?)

  • to kamikrazi123,

what if the opponent purposely puts his foot outside the line and the sensor goes off? lol.

  • ? what are you talking about

he meant putting sensors into the lines so that if the ball lands on the line it will go off. if the ball lands outside the line then nothing will happen. i actually think its a great idea

  • you're saying that the sensors go off when sth touches the line. So if either player steps on the line while hitting a shot down the line (cld be in or out), the sensor's gonna go out regardless. In the end, u'll still need the cameras.

  • nah all they gotta do is put a tiny magnet in the ball, a magnet strong enough to tell when the tiny magnet is near (on the line) and voila!

  • lol. gd call.

  • Ty its good to see that i can give the illusion that i know what im doing

  • quite expensive though

  • It's a good idea actually. Since it's impossible for players to step in the exact same spot where the ball hits, the lines just need to be able to differentiate between the two positions.
