My kids have five different races in them, and there beautiful. We're the way we are because of where we live on the planet. Think if your race lives near the equator, you' ll probably have darker skin from thousands, millions of years of your families gynetics getting more sun exposure. Pretend, If you put all the black people to the north and southern hemispheres, whiter people to the equator the color of there race, skin would evolve in time, reverse color. Get the pattern we are all family.
@declaration963 I don't think its as much as the family as it is media villification. It only takes the image of a scary black man to make someone fear for life. Have you ever watched the original Superman? The only black man in it is a smoked out pimp thats standing next to Caddy and ho saying "hey, Jack, thats a bad outfit, wooh". This imagery frustrates blacks in the end because you realize thats all they think of us.
@declaration963 When you go on a job interview, as a black man if you have to speak perfect english because if you slip up 5% of the time you can easily be characterized as a nig... thats trying to speak proper english. With that characterization is lazy, dishonest, violent, incompetent, bad attitude due to the characterizations portrayed on TV. A white man in the same shoes doesn't face that challenge.
@declaration963 Thats why I think when brothers hear "nig..." they're far angrier than someone hearing cracker. You would be hard pressed to find a negative characterization with the word cracker as opposed to "nig...". To many of us do right for life in order not to be called that and yet we are because we got angry one day. Now they would equate us to the sexual deviants, subhuman, violent, criminals. Its almost like slander. Sorr to vent.
i remember a couple weeks ago i was walkin to my friends house. walked by a gas station, had like 40 bucks, this lil black kid came up to me, who every time i see him begs for a dollar. This time he had a cup of water and wanted me to buy it for 50 cents. I told him i'm not paying for acup of water, waters free, and i cud jusst buy a soda from the store if i was even thirsty. Then cuz i didnt give him any money, or buy water, he threw it at me! Mostly missed. but i just laughed and walked away.
you are not scary at all--you are so beautiful and smart and fast on the lap track and the best thing is your mom really loves you and so do a lot of the people that see you on tape.
beautiful girl- you know black parents don't like white people some times --I had a black girl friend and her mother told me she didn't approve of our mixed friendship..Your mom sounds nice ..
She seems very smart. Even babies know that racism is wrong......look at this bullsh*** see thats the result of allowing the disease of racism to survive today. Keep your Head up Strong Little Sista'.....children are just children hmmm some adults (the ones that teach their kids this stuff) are children too : (
I thought it was great that you both were able to talk about it and grow/learn from this experience. She's already such a strong and smart young lady.
She is beautiful. And so smart. I hate that she had to go thru that...being made to feel different. I am glad that she has you so that she can be open about her feelings. thanks for sharing :-)
let me first say that this child is so damn brilliant. i love her conversation. Also, glad you posted this video. It is definitely food for thought. Namaste.
Awareness can help children to deal with issues of racism. This little girl has obviously been raised in a manner which allowed her to locate the problem where it rightfully belonged - not with her. It is obvious though that it still hurt, which is what makes it so sad. Children who are not able to deal with the issue in this way can be scarred. We do not shield our children by being silent. There is still need for advocacy and for teaching moments; and we need to start with the children.
