Thailland is called the land of smiles, but there is another side to it as well, one that is brutal and thoroughly corrupt. Corruption is a way of life in Thaiand and permeates all layers of society. It's a cultural thing and is probably in their genes, having been part of the Thai way of doing things for such a long time.

Why the Queen of Thailand never answer our case? The Special Rapporteur for the UN for Indigenous Rights and food, ask her what she took the land for, why she violate indigenous people's rights. Why does she need the land, her husband is the world's richest monarch with wealth over 35 Billion dollars.

No matter how civilize a country seem. All majority ruling ethnic will have some sense of superior pride over minorities. China,Lao,Thailand and United States, all different country but same human characteristic behavoir when it comes to treament of minorities.

The most serious problem is that the Queen herself, is behind most of the largest land confiscations. The land of Hooh Yoh Akha, that case has gone to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Special Rapporteur on Indigenous Peoples. For the Queen to think that she has some immunity to steal the land of the Akha in the wake of any kind of violence applied by police and forestry is really really foolish.

It is distressing to see how the Akha are having their land stolen from them by the Thai authorities and that if they protest, they are met with violence and the full force of the Thai state.

It really is hard to believe that the Thai government would treat a harmless and peaceful indigenous people in such a horrible fashion.

I hope that pressure can be brought to bear on the Thai authorities to stop the land thefts and discrimination against the Akha.
