  • Very awesome point BTBAM sound better without vocals don't get me wrong lyric wise theyre good but if they sang instead of screaming they would be more famous ! I still like them tho :)

  • i would love to meet BTBAM, their so musically genius at everything they do. love them guys, cant wait for a new album to grace the face of this earth

  • someone I know said that this is random hitting shit. my murder trial is tomorrow.

  • I just shit my pants

  • I like BTBAM without Vocals better than I do with them, but they're great nonethless. Anyone know any new age instrumental bands like them? I'm fond of Outrun The Sunlight, Animal as Leaders and the HAARP Machine.

  • @1stdoublekill I love Animals as Leaders and This band

  • @1stdoublekill To a small extent, Scale the Summit. Not like them _THAT MUCH_ but, still in the same boat as this band.

  • should i buy alaska?

  • @TheMan750 if you liked colors, sure, why not

  • 0:48 Oh shit! Blastbeat!

  • I've been playing drums for over thirty years, and I'm really good, but it's this kind of talent that makes me wonder why I even bother.

  • @saajingrey hahaha that makes us 2 :( hahaha

  • うますぎる 何度見てもかっこいい

    そして一生出来ないと落ち込む

  • @nykylb totally dude if this comment is about blake's flawless drumming

  • Wonder if he ever plays Rock Band

  • @epiceverydayguy Wonder if he ever asks himself why in blue fuck did I write such complicated parts lol

  • As a fellow a drummer I'm blown away at 2:59... so clean. In fact I'm blown away by everything he does i love you btbam

  • siiiiiiiick man

  • There's no comparison, this guy is blowing nearly all other modern drummers out of the water if not all of them.

  • So much shit going on in here lol, Blake is a brilliant drummer. Think about the memory of the songs, timing and creativity of all his songs not just this one. His style is excellent and I want his drum kit xD. That guy who thinks he's overrated and said btbam are a joke is just a complete moron, not even worth replying to lol.

  • @junkfoodftw I agree with pretty much everything you just said. He has so much style to him and it's not even the homo kind of style either.

  • 3:18 COMFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORT!!!!!!

  • Did it ever occur to any of the slipknot fanboys here that good drumming isn't always about how fast you can flick your wrists and twitch your legs, but can be about how you can extract the best possible beat for a song without just going too far over the top?

  • 1:42 beat is awesome

  • @9Skateboard7 Every beat is awesome.

  • I love the irish beat.. so bad ass.

  • this guy's ability and creativity increases exponentially with every album

  • i need a cymbal stack like him and mike...

  • This band, song, drummer is amazing period! If you dont like this music your retarded.

  • I'm calling it.. There's no way he's human.

  • i come back to this song everyday !!!

  • Is it just me or does he lead some of his double-bass grooves with his left foot?

  • @bUMf1GHT He does, in fact, lead with his left foot!

  • MAJOR portnoy influence

  • God i wish i could play like him

  • Wait so let me get this right............. this is the sequel to prequel to the sequel?......... hahaha

  • @thickpooxbox360 i just got that lol !!!!!!

  • @thickpooxbox360 if that were the case it would be an alternate sequel. Sequel to the prequel of the sequel. The 2 Sequels are the same.

  • @drum54321 stfu

  • @thickpooxbox360 no its the same song, they just did it in parts because the song is so fucking long! if you knew the band..

  • @MilesPastTheHorizon ive known them since the lifeforce records days mate, i made a joke....... haha fail

  • @MilesPastTheHorizon If you knew it was a joke... jesus.

  • @thickpooxbox360 exactly what i thought lol.

  • suck on that shit Joey Jordison lol.

  • The triple kicks at 0:42 are so fucking fast.

  • @Mrcrazy80 those are 5 kicks :)

  • @callelindberg You know what? We're both wrong. I checked at half speed in Audacity and it's 4 kicks. That's also FUCKING FAST!

  • @Mrcrazy80 Yeah blake mostly does 4 kicks. Rarely 3... The thing is they're so fast it seems like there's 3 :P

  • @XxQCGHxX OH GOD! Fucking hell! For a moment there I thought BTBAMofficial answered my comment, since it came up in a seperate list...

  • @XxQCGHxX yep, but for most 4 kicks is kinda easier than 3. if u know drum rudiments, its basically like playing a 4-stroke ruff with ur feet

  • @Mrcrazy80 those kicks are stupidly fast. SOOOOOOOO GOOOD!

  • i like to watch this when im blown : )

  • at 1:51 i want to see him play a 6/8 afro cuban

  • Tight is the best wayto describe his drumming! right on the dot. never even heard of them or him damn good.

  • WHO KNOWS THE EXACT RIDE HE USES??

  • @lecce236 its sabian AA 20 inch i believe

  • @TheLt2323 I actually just checked and his cymbal's brillant so it's the 21"

  • 1:20 - 2:11

  • Again...unbelievable! There's absolutely nothing that I can point that I don't like.

  • Comment removed

  • Blake Richardson makes my head hurt due to the fact of how unbelievable he is. What a talented bunch of guys. Colors Live is about the most amazing hour and a half of music I've ever witnessed in my life. "The monsters are made, and [Blake Richardson] has proven that [he is] one of them"

  • this dude is so underrated. better than most drummers out there. if you dont think so, you're just an idiot.

  • @KHfan4ever23 Must every other musician always be under- or over-rated? Can't I watch a video of a skilled musician without having to be told by 5 people deserving or undeserving said musician is?

  • @Joziaac Well the thing is that... Blake Richardson is the most underrated drummer in the world. Accept and enjoy.

  • @Mrcrazy80 The most underrated drummer in the world would be some virtuoso in some basement who hasn't had the fortune of a band with any kind of success.

  • @Joziaac Was hoping for some die-hard BTBAM support there, but sure. Get him, boys!

  • @Joziaac Can't you just ignore the fact that I even said that and just watch the video?

  • @KHfan4ever23 Perhaps, I just get fed up with those comments everywhere. Especially when people start insulting other drummers on their own videos because they're "overrated", and then half of a video's comments are filled with how terrible Mike Portnoy and Travis Barker are and how good and attention-deserving drummer x is.

  • @KHfan4ever23 So true. he and the band have brought the genre to new levels

  • @bklyn977 Agreed.

  • @KHfan4ever23 I agree. He mixes the speed that makes everyone want to idolize Joey Jordison and mixes that speed with the time signatures and time changes of prog. There's really no way to call him a bad drummer

  • @KHfan4ever23 Underrated my ass.

  • @KHfan4ever23 agreed. I saw Rush n BTBAM within 2 weeks of each other, and Blake's drum solo made Peart's solo it's bitch.

  • @Fireaxx789 two different bands, two completely different styles of playing...unfair to compare the two

  • i like the whole metal part but not th accordein part

  • @howker29 Probably my favourite part of the song. You don't really listen to prog, do you?

  • @gsusfreak08 no not to much i like rush and nirvana

  • i wanna see him play white walls.

  • prog all the way. Nuff said.

  • how the fuck did he do this!?! seriously he doesnt have the guitar parts playing in his ear buds he has a metronome ticking! how the fuck did he do this? im just in awe

  • @HippiesPwn im pretty sure he has the guitar/bass and clicking, but still. that takes nothing away at all from how insane he is. and he dishes out performances like this live all day.

  • @SchruteFarms69 No, HippiesPwn is correct. Blake doesn't use scratch tracks when he records. All he needs is a click track. All hail!

"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiints and aaaaaaaaaaall, they did as they pleased....and now it's starting to wilt away". EPIC!

  • @vorturus whats a Scratch track?

  • @ibanezmetalman Most of the time when a drummer is doing their in-studio recording, they will have a click track in one ear and one of the guitar players playing along in their other ear (the scratch track) while they are laying down their drum tracks. It makes it easier and more natural for the drummer to hear the music that he is used to playing along with.

  • @SchruteFarms69 no dude they record the drum tracks first so the guitar and bass have something to follow. if you watch some of the studio stuff there are clips of him air drumming the songs so he can memorize where to hit. he is crazy good

  • @HippiesPwn it differs from band to band and player to player dude. There isn't a specifically written formula on how bands should/do write songs. Everybody has their own method.

  • 1:18 double kick!

  • COVVVEEERRREDDDD

  • i think im gonna quit playing the drums now...

  • @DGKrew00 dont quit

    work up to it

believe it or not i can play a little bit of this

  • @blakester100 oh i wasn't actually going to quit. but watching him play makes me feel like i just should quit lol.

  • @DGKrew00 lol yeah i know what you mean

watching him just kinda makes people feel like they're nothing xD

  • this video is like the ring for drumsets you watch him and then in a week you feel like getting rid of your drum kit

  • i play drums and like most drummers i consider myself to be probably better than i actually am, but when i listen to guys like Blake Richardson I consider myself to be an incompetent piece of shit at drums

  • @drumfrmartin im right there with ya

im just glad when they say "Blake's Amazing!!!!!"

it makes me feel good about my self then i remember they're not talking about me xD

  • 3:00 - 3:38 I definetly got a Lamb of God kinda feel

  • 3:36 omg.

  • LMAO @ 1:20..... Sooo awesome and random. Such a change in the song!!!

  • @DrummaMuFucka thats progressive metal for you

  • I agree with people in the first part of the song. There's a point where missing the like button isn't even funny anymore.

  • anyone know what that cymbol to the right of the splash cymbol is called??

  • @xxjustinx34xx I think its just another splash cymbal. Just a tad bigger. Probably an 8" next to a 7". Makes a slightly different sound. That's just what I think, though. I could be wrong. I used to play drums but I had to sell my set for rent.

  • @johnnylaw6661

Actually, it sounds like it's a stack... what sort of stack, I don't know.

  • @betterthandirt It will be MAX stacks. The rest of his cymbals are sabian and it would make sesne to use Portnoy's signatures.

  • Wow looking at this and then looking at something more recent, one can see how much better he has gotten as a musician as well as everyone else in the band.

  • snare sounds like shit

  • @DoubleFlanged Matter of opinion, I happen to like the snare.

  • Sounds like a cell phone ring at 0:59

  • @Led778 ive said that that symbol sounds like etween the Buried and Me a phone ringin a thousand times before but noone says they hear it....haha i thought it was just me: Between the Buried and Me are and will be ever be gods for lifetimes to comes

  • 1:19 double kick :O

  • I love how BTBAM has so many reccuring lyrical and musical themes within all their songs, that even flow between songs. Even single phrases that don't reccur are just beautiful... Comfort, rebuild, I will just keep waiting, floating to the sun, white walls. Close one eye step to the side, we must move on, swim to the moon. I love their self-referential lyrics, towards popularity of previous songs, the many veils they put on each song; to decode them is part of the enjoyment. I love BTBAM.

  • 3:20 COMFORT!!!

this drum video comforted me to the point of no return....

  • 4:32-4:43. my god man.

  • I feel like the accordian part must be somewhat inspired by another dimension by liquid tension experiment, its so awesome!

  • does anybody else actually hate how good he is?

  • @yokiddingme I hate how much it makes me think theres no point to playing because why would somebody want to hear me when theres this guy...

  • @yokiddingme if by hate you mean love!!!!!!!!!

  • @yokiddingme i think the 6 that dislike are jealous or uber pissed they arent that great of musicians. i think that was kind of mean to say :p

  • @yokiddingme Nope. I just hate how overrated he is. 95% of what he plays is simple, straight forward stuff and everyone is like "OMG!!! HE'S SO AMAZING!". BTBAM are a total joke.

  • @metalwillhatecrew Alright then who do you like? who isnt a "joke" to you

  • @TheSilvi19 He probably prefers Joey Jordison.

  • @metalwillhatecrew

    >Look up Blake Richardson.

    > "BTBAM are a total joke."

  • @metalwillhatecrew its easy? ....well then i wanna see a cover of that song by you =)

  • i fucking love the outro to this song... even without the vocals

  • Has anyone noticed how he seems to be to use his left foot a lot more than a regular drummer would? No wonder sometimes it sounds like he is dancing with the double pedal

  • @sakrem89 As I commented on the frist part of this video, I use my left foot to start most of my double bass playing. But thats because Im left footed, so I have a good reason haha :) But its good to see im not the only one who does it :)

  • I hear vocals. There are no vocals though?

  • hmm matt griener vs blake richardson...

  • @Pedwily Blake Richardson wins by alot his ability to memorize very long and complicated songs makes him win hands down

  • @marralis I agree but abr has some sick songs too

  • @Pedwily both have savage songs. i just feel like the two bands are too different to compare the style of music they play

  • @Pedwily blake richardson. but matt is really good though

  • sorta odd clothing.. shorts and a jacket.. he must be cold and hot at the same time

  • The slow non-metally part looks way more intense to play in this video than when you're listening to the song... takes too much skill to do everything he's doing

  • I would kill a man to be able to learn the fill at 3:39.

  • i jus noticed that he didnt do a flamm at 2;56 lolz but it still makes the flam soundd lolz maybe im watching this video too much lolz

  • @tdrummer123 he paradiddled instead

  • @cheng2006 negative broo... it made the flam sound but his left hand was on the cymbal

  • Blake is totally pro, one of the best drummers around imo ^^

  • 2:56 <3

  • musical perfection

  • nothing wrong with this video imo, except the lack of pop in the snare when he blasts :[

  • 0:42 - 0:45! pretty darn clear and naturally sextuplets! sounds really good even without triggers . (Y)

  • There's no vocals. It's just the instrumental version.

  • This is the Sequel to Prequel to the Sequel drum cover... whoa. I'm seeing a paradox here.

  • @xPLDxPunisher Except it's not a sequel, it's the 2nd half of a video. It's also not a cover, as he's the actual drummer for the band.

  • @Almightytoaster The definition of sequel is "A literary, dramatic, or cinematic work whose narrative continues that of a preexisting work." In this case, this video is continuing from the first part of this drum cover. It is a cover, because it is not the original drum tracking. He is simply playing a re-imagining of the song's drums and adding a different spin on things.

  • @xPLDxPunisher ummm, the song is called prequel to the sequel numb nuts.

  • @xPLDxPunisher this may be just a theory but is what you are saying is true than that must mean its a cover of a song that he already recorded and wrote and stuff so if its a cover than that must mean that this is a clone from a different relm of life where he is not an oppostite but, more of a clone perhaps but that could just be a ole other paradox... damn

  • @xPLDxPunisher So you're seeing two doctors? [trollface]

  • It's a tama superstar 7 piece. A thousand dollar set actually. :)

  • the fucking best

    bleke its a monsterrrrr

    great job men

  • this man realy knows his kit...every motion is fluid, and the seamless transitions make it beautiful to watch.

  • does he start his fills with his left hand?

  • @bklyn977 yes, and finishes them with his right. i dont get it either.

  • @eKuL1995 im sensing sarcasm. i was just asking because many look down on that, i tend to do the same at times. but if blake can pull it off i guess it cant be too harmful

  • @bklyn977 lol im serious. i dont really know what his technique is but it confuses me to no end. his fills are weird

  • @eKuL1995 haha ohhh i thought you were just bein an ass... but yeah i feel you, dude's a pro. his fills are weird but they work

  • @eKuL1995 I'm thinking he's self taught. Many self taught drummers have strange technique... like myself :)

  • @shortperson1026 same, i hold drumsticks like they're feathers. and get really bad blisters haha.

  • is this man is god? i don't know but he is pretty good!! amazing :)

  • 2:58 = 8===D

  • Do u know how much money i would pay to see him jammin on his kit on every BtBaM song? Videos like this are the greatest.

  • So badassssss

  • holy shit a monster player...him and jason costa would have a hell of a jam.
