  • I dont understand how this plate can add 125 hp but the plates from TST add like 50 for the most agressive plate. If this plate does really add 125 its gotta be hell on the trans, am I right or wrong. Please correct me if I am cause id love to get this plate.

  • is it fine to do this to a bone stock truck?

  • i laugh when people talk about buying a auto cummins...wheres the fun, and have fun fixin a tranny that was built to small for a cummins. do your homework boys

  • will putting in a #100 fuel plate in a completely stock 97 cummins 12 valve hurt it?

  • i have a bone stock auto transmission in my 96 cummins and does this plate going to burn my tranny if i put it in?

  • @straight2500 it wont help it but if u like to hot rod around it wont last

  • Cool

  • i might be gettting a 96 cummins auto do i have to worry about my stock turbo? does it rase the boost pressure? and do i have to worry about my egt's?

  • I just got an automatic 98 12 valve.

Would I have any problems cause it's an auto. Rather than a stick???

  • @REMauri06 - No, your transmission is fine.

  • Fuel plate just limits full throttle fueling just throw the stock plate in the trash and leave it empty, save your self some money. I have personally never had a problem. Also prob want to turn the star wheel so it fuel's faster and more all the time and the "smoke screw" its on the back of the afc under a cover (sneaky dodge) I turned mine in about half way and star wheel all the way forward.

  • i got a 5.9 in a bus, the engine will turn only around 2400 rpms and has a max speed around 64 mph. will this mod turn the engine more rpms? to try and get this bus to 70 or 75 mph? we do alot of interstate miles and its not safe that slow on a 75 mph interstate.

  • @crsvky28 No this wont make the engine rev higher. You can tighten stock gov springs, witch are not located in the afc there is a large plug on the driver side of engine under throttle linkage. remove plug and turn engine over by hand until you see the spring there is a clicking nut basically that holds it on I think you can turn it 4 more clicks safely i did three, there are two springs so do one side and turn engine again and do the other side. Made mine rev to about 3100

  • @crsvky28 you can buy gov springs that will increase the rev limit. i'd buy the 4k springs as they fuel harder and have a longer curve. BUT if you rev past 3200 rpm without 60 pound valve springs your valves will float and cause some big problems. you prolly don't wanna spend a lot of money but you should regear that rear end. cuz turning 2800 or 3000 rpm on the highway is a great way to blow that motor.

  • How much extra torque is added?

  • 24 valve uses the vp44 which was prone to failure due to drops in fuel pressure and the earlier 12 valves use a mechanical inline pump

  • i have a 1998 12 valve and today i installed a fuel plate and now its running from me (wont shut off) got any suggestions what i mite have done wrong or what i need to do

  • faulty fuel shutdown solenoid?

  • @99turbocummins

sounds like your arm slipped under the plate. what plate did you install?

  • thats wat im going to do to my 89 12 valve except its the fuel pin.

  • UGHHH, ITS COMING

  • Not unless u have a stick cuz an auto will be toast

  • do you have to do anything else if everything is stock on your truck? do you recomend removing plate completely?

  • Don't you think it was just a typo smart ass. Thats obviously just a mistake

  • Yes if it has a P7100 pump which is what all of the 12 valves have if u have an 00 u will have a VP44 Pump an it wont work.

  • actually the 89 -93 dodges used a bosch ve rotary style pump 94-98.5 used the vp44 and 03 to current are common rail just clearin up any confusion not tryin to be a smart ass its just i work for cummins and have access to all the factory manuals

  • oh you work for cummins hm the 94 to 98.5 has p7100 inline injector pump. and 98.5 through 2002 had vp44 if your not 100 percent sure you know what your talking about. i suggest you shut up

  • I have a stock exhaust. do i need to get a performance exhaust?

  • It's always a good idea to upgrade your exhaust, especially if you're going to be burning more fuel.

  • wow that is a great vid....i just bought a 96 12 valve, is it the same process, and how much does it kill your mileage

  • i have mine on 125 hp i got an extra 2 mpg

  • bought the exact plate for my 96..any easier way to get off the break off bolt rather than using a hammer and chisel?

  • what fuel plate do u put on a 96 cummins auto trans? and how do u kno which one to put?

  • it's just this same one, just click on the link over in the video description. That's the one you will need.

  • @lesterbush

    Remove it completely.

  • @DasKetzer and then you chance engine runaway. A 0 plate is better than none

  • how is the fuel mileage

  • it went up 1 to 2 mpg after he got the leade foot out of his system.

  • can you do this to all diesel trucks?

  • no, it's just the 12 valve dodge diesel's

  • Does this work for the First gen Cummins (89-93) or only the second gen 12 valve?

  • second gen only the first gen used a differant fuel pump look for bosch ve pump tunig and upgrades for a first gen

  • You you do a before and after dyno run on a #10 plate?

  • I have a 60 Hp Fuel plate installed on my 95 Cummins. Will turning the starwheel help the truck gain a bit of acceleration from a stop? Also, can you turn the starwheel too much and hurt the motor and make it not run? Is the starwheel located on the allen wrench bolt on top of the fuel pump? Does turning the star wheel make Cold Starts more difficult? Thanks

  • To answer your questions-

For #1, Yes. How far you want to go, will depend on how much low boost smoke you are willing to have on acceleration.

    2. No.

    3. Yes. 8mm allen. May need a allen with a head that takes a 3/8" drive ractchet and an impact driver to loosen it. A hammer on a regular allen might be enough. Some are pretty tight. I had to use a hammer on mine. Don't loose the washer.

    4. No.

  • You can turn the star wheel in as far as you want. The perfect setting is a slight smoke haze while accelerating hard. That is on a mildy modded or stock truck, so this isn't to be followed when heavy mods are done. I had to remove the AFC arm for my truck to run at it's best.

  • Awesome video!!! Keep them coming!!!

  • I modified my stock fuel plate, but this video was very helpful to me. I was also wondering if anybody could tell me how far I can safley turn my star wheel on my fuel pump. I've turned it toward the motor three clicks already but would like to go more if possible.

  • I have my starwheel turned (and the plate and AFC housing are slid full forward) as far forward as I can without taking it off. Really depends on how much smoke you want to have. The looser the spring, the more off boost smoke you will have.

  • I have mine turned as far as I can with the screwdriver. Really depends on how much smoke you want off boost. Looser spring = more smoke.

I also have my 10 plate and AFC housing slid full forward.

  • Also, the fuel plate we removed was modified. The gains we talked about are from a stock plate. Thanks again to all those who are helping us to improve our videos.

  • Thanks to everyone with added tips to help contribute to this video.

  • Makes sure to add a pyrometer to watch the exhaust gas temps (EGTs). If you add that much fuel, you could melt parts in the engine. Particularly if you tow. Depending on the plate, you may need to upgrade to a bigger turbo for more air, to lower the safe EGT level.

  • Make sure the AFC housing is in the same position, or preferably full forward. If it is to far back, you will severely limit the power potential of the engine. Full rearward to full forward on the AFC makes a HUGE difference.

  • Also, sometimes it is helpful to remove the high pressure fuel lines to gain better access to the tamperproof bolt.

  • An impact driver is VERY helpful in loosening and tightening the screws for the plate. Pushing down on a screwdriver by hand isn't enough to keep the screwdriver from slipping. Whether removing the plate or getting it tight enough.

  • Great video and tips
