    Elizabeth de Jong ♪♪♪♥♪♪♪

  • the streets of London will feel footsteps of my sweet Lisa with me . They waited with love for her !!! Like me !! Alex de Lisa ♪♥♪

  • Wow Thankyou Herr Betschert for this beautifuel soong

  • Lovely song! Very fitting for this time of year too! :)

  • I saw Ralph the other night and he is just soooo goood... two sublime hours and he's such a sweet guy to talk too as well and he said he never tires of singing this beautiful song!

  • My father died when i was born. He played in a band and used to sing this song to my mother when they were alone. She told me many times about that. This song means so much more for me than i can express right here, it is just beautiful.

    Rest in Peace, Joachim Kluck

  • Very, very good single of Ralph McTell. They do not make these kind singles anymore as they used to

  • Whilst I like this I prefer the acoustic version

  • 这首歌曲在中国竟然没几个人知道,中国人哈美太严重了。

  • rigbyfin, I share your sorrow for your brother, I lost my mother who loved this song so much last year. Thank the lord that we are left with fond memories, they can never be taken away.

  • this song brings back so many bittersweet memories. I am NOT a singer. i have less than no talent. But my brother was a very accomplished singer and guitarist. This is the only song that i would sing with him. He passed away 7 years ago. But this song brings back so many beautilful memories.

  • fantastic, cheers Dave

  • Let me take you by the hand and lead you to the Trafford Centre, I'll show you something that'll make you blow your mind!

  • My ex-supervisor at Halfords Kingston (2001) gave me this song on a tape! So it has memories for me!

  • quiet an old song, but iy still moves me.

  • Very good single of Ralph McTell

  • This song is only made sadder by the fact that you can still walk though the streets of London(or any town in the UK) and still see the sights from this song.

There are people who would donate money to charities supporing cats and dogs, yet would walk past the destitute.

    Shame on you!

Are your fellow Man worth less than an animal??

  • Have a new text who can sing Part two: And I don't know the next level of my Sony game. As long as the Lybian butcher is looking where his victims are, he is flying in his plane and scans the land. Hey, it looks like my next level in the Sony game, but where are the children who play and sing? I also can't hear the good old scool bells , oh Lybian time stands still and I ruminate what will be the next challenge of my game and the rotation of the earth so quiet as before ,
  • Have a new text who can sing it? Part one: Have a new text who can sing it: have you seen the atomic power station in the tv show? it looks so normal and you don't know what ist wrong. The tv-pictures are so peculiar because you can't see people anywhere . It looks like a cold area zone where there are the children that are playing and singing where there are the good old scool bells are ringing oh Fukushimas time standsstill but the rotation of the earth so quiet as before .
  • some songs stay in your mind forever.... this is one of those classics and why people comment on his shirt is beyond me

  • Wonderful song and it goes straight to the heart! Alfred

  • Ugly outfit

    Beautiful sing

  • He looks like the one in "Top Gear" :D

  • ugly guy, ugly shirt, great song

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome song!

Take a look at my video production. You will find all kinds of interesting between heaven and earth! You will not be disappointed!

  • The sad truth of this song, is that London, with its 10 million people, is still one of the loneliest places in the UK. This song is as relevant today as the day it was written.

    A truly timeless classic!!

  • luv this used to sing it in school london lik any other city it has its bad parts but born, live and die here i love my capital

  • I remember seing Ralph play at Birmingham University in the late 70s. Unlike Dylan, he could sing!

  • @2lucyinthesky a lot of people can sing... Dylan is much much more than a mere singer... how can you make a comparison... Dylan is the greatest poet of our times... I love this song and ralph voice... but he is only one of many... good, very good... singers ( I don't hate you :)) but don't talk nonsense dear!

    Bye from Lecce, Italy

  • This song won an Ivor Novello Award - fabulous lyrics, great melody, poignant words that actually conjour a most vivid picture in your mind. Few songs do that, not even Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles paints a picture as crisp as Streets of London. Dylan wrote a lot of great songs but nothing of his equalled this in my opinion. Taking nothing from Dylan but his quantity doesn't trump this one piece of quality in my opinion.

  • forgotton memory found again 5*

  • Reminds me so much of my first trip to London as a teenager...

Stll love this city and this language a lot...

  • why did they ever stop top of the pops, so wrong!

  • Great visionary, lyrical masterpiece

  • The lyrics "dirt in her hair" always me cry.

  • I remember hearing this song in the early seventies. David Marsden had a midnight show on CHUM FM and I would lie in the dark listening to music that enlightened me and anyone else who was listening. Just a beautiful song! And very few Hamiltonians had ever heard of him! Also loved "let me down easy", just right for suffering thru teenage angst!

  • Me too. Brings me back to my lo my youth. Thanks for posting from Barcelona. Makes me travel back to London.

  • I remember thinking he was SO gorgeous!

  • wonderful x

  • A lyrical masterpiece that tugs the heartstrings of even the most cynical minds. Bravo, McTell ! ! !

  • i adore this wonderful song

so fullof meaning and it shows lonliness....hugs x

  • love the sound

  • The song that got me playing for real -

and I am still in love with it :-) Such beautiful chord progressions - they almost play the tune by themselves -

and then that lovely finger picking that makes it sound like sheer magic.

Think I play it almost exactly like he does by now - after many years of trials and errors adding to my first simplified version.

  • Hint:

When fingepicking this song use an Fmaj6 = 1(T)03231 instead of the D7 - or even Dm ! - that you see in many tabs.

    ie. ..." WORN (Fmaj6) out shoes (G6)" )

Have it straight from the horse's own mouth ;-)

  • Sorry - it's 1(T)03230 !

  • This song has always been a real favourite of mine since I started playing guitar and singing in the late 60's. It has always been one of my repertoire stalwarts - and yes, an achievement to get it sounding close to his version. Shame other songs of his have escaped the wider public - just a few - Naomi, Blind Blake's rag, Maginot Waltz, Winnie's rag (latter for guitar technicians of rag-time). Good to see from even this month that he still has the magic to move emotions..

  • He's done a song called 'Clown' - pretty sure he composed it - very unusual and well worth a listen.

  • Yes, you are right - great song. On one

    of his first albums,

Plus lots of other fantastic songs that most people unfortunately don't know about .

  • God this takes me back a bit, great to hear it again.

  • really amazing song...i love this so much!!! thank you!

  • Yes, is amazing!!!! thanks my friend xojbabyxo!! peace! :))
