There hasn't been a total hockey player in the NHL since Neely. Ovechkin and Crosby aren't as brutal as Neely was and they don't instill fear in opposing players like Neely did.

There hasn't been a total hockey player in the NHL since Neely. Ovechkin and Crosby aren't as brutal as Neely was and they don't instill fear in opposing players like Neely did.
Lucic is nowhere near Cam Neely and probably won't ever be. I am very biased though because I don't think there will ever be a player like Neely again so please excuse my nutswinging, but Neely is the best all around player I have ever seen in my 30 years of life.

I DO play hockey (at a mid-high level) and I think it's just plain stupid that professional players don't wear full face masks. Look at the amount of severe facial injuries that could have been avoided in this year alone and tell me it's not stupid.
Players can choose not to protect themselves, but that doesn't give them the right to condemn everyone else for being "cowards".
