Hey, guys. This works. Open file in Notepad. When he says copy the "127 IP address," I just copied it like it is right beneath the others, using the same format. After I altered the file and tried to save it, it asked me if I wanted to copy it to "my documents," so I did that. Oh, I also had to make sure to save it as "all file types"--not text. No restart required. Thanks, Ryan! I couldn't visit Wikipedia and got redirected by every link I found in the search engines--no more!! :-)

FAR better than anyone YOU listen to in terms of Musical genius. do everything he's telling you to do, but when you get into the HOST file instead of putting what he did, DELETE everything in the HOST file and your problem is gone..

I tried this and cleared the host file completely and its still hijacked. I have SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes installed and have run full complete scans using both and I still have my searches on google chrome redirected to a random website. What else should I try?

@moorreese you probably have a backdoor trojan, you normally cant find them in scans, if you have downloaded anything recently go scan it and see if you find anything
