So which hsf you are using? Can i use the COOLERMASTER HYPER 212 EVO or XIGMATEK GAIA on it when I filled up all the Ram slots with Gskill ripjaws ram? Or do I only left with the watercooling choice?
@Jero2012DIY I'm not exactly sure how far off the board the ripjaws stick up. If they arent too high, then you can use what ever heatsink you want to. But, if they are like my Corsair Vengeance, then you either need a fairly small headsink/fan that does no go over the ram slots, or go liquid like I did.
Nice my 3930k Just showed up today with my P9x79 Deluxe and Corsair AX1200 PSU. I am waiting on a 4 x 8 GB Corsair Vengeance 1866 RAM kit to show with a Xigmatek Elysium case. Im siked! Let us know if you run into any issues during the build since I'll be essentially building a mirror of it. Mine will be more of a workstation build so my graphics card will be quite different than yours but Nice!
@riotdiscoman Hi man, I have purchased a 3930k with 16gb of 1866 RAM and I just wanted to check with you if 1866 ram definitely works with this CPU? The intel website worried me when the said that it supports 1600. I assume that you have the memory now? Thanks for any help.
@couer1911 My 1866 RAM appears to be working fine. You may have to go into the BIOS and manually adjust the speeds to correct settings but so far no complaints. I'm quite happy with my build. If you would like to see more I have photos and specs posted on overclock3d forums in the rig gallery. Its titled Xigmatek workstation build.
When you build you PC PLEASE do a review, benchmarking for the cpu, ram, gpu's etc...plus prices for each component it would help me alot with my build :)
@BrodcastingWorldwide I would recommend getting the 3930K over the 3960X. The 3960X is like 5% faster, but it also costs about twice as much. ($600 vs $1100). Also, once these have both been overclocked, the benefits of the 3960X have pretty much gone away and at that point the 3960X is a complete waste of money.
@kenshin3249 ye i think too but i'm sitting with one question
why? is it so much more expensive?
my guess is that the 3960x will get the full unlock in the future or so ? meaning that it will have all 8 cores running or would intel be that stupid to sell a processor for 400€/500$ extra for a staggering performance increase of 0.004354% ;)
@kenshin3249 same reasons I went with the 3930k, I personally feel that the 3930k is geared for the enthusiast gaming market with its price point, the 3960X, wasn't "X" enough to get me to spend nearly twice as much as a did on the 3930k.
@kenshin3249 I have to agree. For the money, I'd rather buy (2) 3930k's to build (2) kick butt computers... The mark up on the 3960x is WAY off kilter in my personal opinion. I could see maybe if you were on the EXTREEME overclocking kick and demanded paying double the money for .1Ghz frequency boost and 3M Cache... I just cant afford to do that. I'd rather spend that extra $500 toward some nice RAM...
@BrodcastingWorldwide the 3960 is a bragging right, nothing more, if your getting this processor, you better be planning on overclocking, and at that point the 3060 is waste of money, 3 megs more of cash and slightly higher stock clock

Hi so can I use window 7 home premium 64bit on this? Is there a point of getting 32 gb RAM on it?
Jero2012DIY 1 month ago
@Jero2012DIY yes you can run win 7 64bit on it, but if you are running home premium you can only have 16gb of ram.
kenshin3249 1 month ago
@kenshin3249 Most likely i will be getting the Win7 64bit Pro. So that I can go for 32bit RAM.

Thank you for clearing that up :]
I understand it isn't worth the money.
Tell me how this one's treating you!
One more question... Does this processor work well with games?

@kenshin3249 Well, depends on what work you do with your PC, it has more cache memory but in gaming it makes more or less none difference :P
