@saadkyahaalhai Yeah, I recommend the Sensitone! I really love the sound of brass snares, I've got and can recommend a WorldMax Black Dawg too (very similar to Sensitone Elite, I've got the 5" deep model) Brass sounds a bit warmer than steel. (I think at least the Paice -model was steel)
@Toneleaf I think Slaughtered by Pantera is where I first heard that being used. But it's based on the paradiddlediddle -rudiment and I think quite many drummers who familiarize themselves with rudiments figure that out at some point and so Portnoy has probably played that too.
@Cring0r I used one (1) guitarist with a degree in music technology... here are Pete's comments: Drums were recorded to 8 tracks. Two for the bass drum (inside and outside), two for the snare (over and under), two for toms (under) and the whole set was recorded from the drummer's point of view (over shoulders)
@pacificdrumma Nice beatspotting! And before the rock police arrive, let me just say that I know it's not exactly the same beat, I added some extra notes to compensate for the lack of the delay effect in the original recording. I could try to copy something to the smallest detail but I don't see the point in that. Thanks for the comments!
Love all of this. Everything sounds great, especially the drums (all of them). The mini make-shift hi-hats were very cool.
