It sounds like you're going to take the shadow out- but if you end up leaving it in, consider having the creature go silent when it stops moving, or perhaps when it's on the edge/coast of a lake (while still showing the bubbles). This would make it even more predatory, as if its frozen, just waiting to attack.
The fact that it can sit still for a few seconds adds a lot to the creepiness of it.
Im also for not removing the shadow, just makes it creepyer and you can see it slightly, its like it has a presence but at the same time it doesnt. Not sure about it being hittable though, but it could make being chased by it scaryer since you know you could risk turning around to try to fend it off for a second, which would be risky

While were on the subject, I was wondering if we could have permission to use this for a amnesia adventure map once its finished? We have plenty of time to wait, were hardly done with the castle :/ But anyway is that cool with you?
@TheLolMenPeople Red gooey shadow? OH you mean the gatherer...er that was a placeholder texture and I've discontinued that mob because it'd basically act like an enderman that didn't teleport.
Also you can use this in any map you want. If you release the map you could send a link to my mod page when I finish it. Although, since I don't plan to generate any kind of money from it you could include it in a download folder. I'd still like some credit for the mod though, it'd just be nice.
@Abengoshis Mainly because it gives you a rough idea of where it is/was. Giving you a chance to avoid it, plus, when your in a fight with it, its ALOT harder to see the shadow, all the adrenaline and focusing on smacking it back.
Besides you cant always see the shadow, i didn't see until near the end of the video
@becketto Well you can see where it is from the splashes, and the point is to not get into the situation where you need to fight it anyway, especially since its invicible.
@Abengoshis I think the shadows should stay. The mob has no idle splashes, which it has in-game. You need to know where it IS, whether it's a shadow, or from time to time it splashes because it's bored. Plus, it's an invisible creature, not a spirit. As such, it has a shadow.

Also invisible creatures won't have shadows. T'is the way light interacts with matter. If something is invisible then no light is bouncing off it, the light is just passing through it as it would with anything else that's invisible.

@TheBeauRoose 1.8 broke one of the update methods, I just had to rename that method (silly me), and has screwed up the suitor model nastily for some reason, but I haven't looked into fixing that yet, I'm working on one mob at a time. I spent ages trying to figure out why the water mob wasn't responding, then almost kicked myself when I noticed a method change in one of the default NPCs. 1.8 also changed the way damage is dealt, and for some reason I've no longer got a knockback from the mob.
@TheBeauRoose Ohh and btw, mobs do behave very differently (this is unrelated to my mod). Try hitting a pig in pre 1.8, then hit it in 1.8 or above. The pig runs away in 1.8 quite frantically and before 1.8 it just let you hit it.
@CokaColaShinigami The mod isn't out yet but I've put a link to the thread in the description if you want to contribute to the discussion as to what should be in it and stuff, not that you can't do that here of course - thats the entire point of putting it on youtube. ;P
Im loving this! Do you think you can do a little pre-release for testing, I would love to play with this, also does it attack other mobs ie. Pigs, zombies?

@TheBeauRoose 1.8 broke one of the update methods, I just had to rename that method (silly me), and has screwed up the suitor model nastily for some reason, but I haven't looked into fixing that yet, I'm working on one mob at a time. I spent ages trying to figure out why the water mob wasn't responding, then almost kicked myself when I noticed a method change in one of the default NPCs. 1.8 also changed the way damage is dealt, and for some reason I've no longer got a knockback from the mob.
