I literally was in tears at my desk because after sooo long it is finally a click away. I love this song!!! It holds meaning and memories for me.

@JULIAN5235 No question you know they fired Kev without letting anybody know? He told me they fired him with a note. I was mad cuz that Sunday night show was an event for me and a whole lotta others. I message Kev all the time he's spinning at slowjams.com M-F 3:00pm-8:00pm EST, plus he has a weekend show but its Pacific time so check into it he needs some support and will be glad to hear from you. HUR is telling people Kev is in Florida retired which is a lie he's in LA broke on unemployment.
As a displaced DC girl, I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. Thank you thank you thank you for this awesome blast from the past and tribute. My radio dial rarely strayed far from WHUR. And thanks for all the lovely pics of the city of my birth. Hey...You wouldn't happen to remember a little original bump whur used to play early weekday mornings, back around 1975..."Music of My Mind?" Anyone remember? Anyone have access?
I lived in DC for a couple of years in the 80s and fell in love with this song and The Quiet Storm. It marked a great time in my life, one of tremendous transition. It is great to finally hear it again. My deep appreciation for posting this!!
I have been searching for this song for so long, could never figure out the artist but I'm glad it's here! Talk about a blast from the past...Thank You
Sunratada, there was a segment on the Muppets and the artist was on the show with Kermit the frog singing...i'll have to search and post it...so you are not crazy they did do a duet together of this song....lol
Thanks for posting. I love this song but can't find it anywhere to add to my iPOD. Just heard an hour ago on WHUR. Beautiful again thanks and this video has been added to my favorites.
This is the song we danced to at our wedding...our 1st dance. 7/21/07 :-) We met at Howard University and have been together since 03. What a great song.
Wow, I heard this on HUR last night too! That's what made me look it up today. I always wanted to know who sang this. What's funny is every time I hear it, it reminds me of when Kermit The Frog sang it on one of the muppets tv special.
If you live in the DC area, try RoadHouse Oldies off of Georgia Ave in Silver Spring. They have eveything. I got this CD and one by Howard Kenney ..."Between The Lines"... another great WHUR Quiet Storm Classic.
@AngelicSnowGirl Try listening online @whur.com.I know how it is I lived out of town before the internet and when I moved back the first thing I did was run right to the radio and turned on HUR Atlanta had nothing like this.
Until I found out his name (Scott Jarrett) ... I would always search for the song that sound like Bert and Ernie was singing... never could find it.. I'm loving it!
This brings back memories, Melvin Linsey was the man that set the tone for ALL. His style is replicate but never duplicated. WHUR is still the stations to listen to.
Oh Melvin Lindsey was simply the absolute best! That's not D.C. bias from this Washingtonian, this is a fact! I remember two other songs that I used to call Melvin at HUR (Most call it WHUR)request: Treasure Chest sung by Booker T.(Formerly of Booker T & The M.G.s) and Living Free sung by Melba Moore.. Check them out.
That's right... the great Cathy Hughes created the Quiet Storm format while at WHUR at the great Howard University, anad The great Melvin Lindsey made this great song a D.C.favorite!!
This was and is the jam. Every once in a while a song comes along that seems to capture the joy and sweetness of love and living. This is one of them. L-O-V-E this tune. Ahhh, I'm relishing the warm fuzzies right now. Scott, you were touched by the angels when you made this one. And bless the late Melvin Lindsey for his amazing ability to spot a gem.
Melvin is my uncle, he passed when i was only 13 and whenever i hear this song i cant help but think of him and tear up... he's the reason i got into making music myself.
THERE will ONLY BE one true Quiet Storm, and it all started and the alma-mater that both myself and my uncle share... Howard University!
Im 29 now, and not a day goes by that me and my family dont miss him... thanx for posting this up (Odawg96)...
Hey, Your Uncle WAS the best. My aunt was in school with him. I am also an HU alumni and a DJ. Your Uncle's selections mean more to me than I could ever explain. I still play those songs in my slowjam set at the end of the night. Yes there is ONLY ONE TURE ORIGINAL QUIET STORM!!! We HUR heads know. This song is the very definition of the true Quiet Storm. Be well. R.
@rahsaanjackson1 Your comments made my day man! From one fellow bison to another, thank you so much. I always tell my mom who was closest to my uncle (they were the 2 youngest of 6) that even almost 20 years later, Melvin gets so much love its amazing.... a true testament to the person he was and what he gave to us... i can only wish to be as good as a human as he was!
All right folks, I'd be remiss if I DIDN'T mention that Scott Jarrett has his own MySpace page. There's MORE great music from him there. It'll DEFINITELY be worth your while to visit!!!
Osiris. Tyrone Brunson played with that cat. A lot of the older DC-area cats that I know and have played with have those Osiris albums laying around their cribs to THIS day. Osiris is from DC, and I'm guessing YOU are, too because folks outside of the area just don't KNOW about Osiirs.
I found another back-of-the-rack classic from AM/FM on YouTube..."You are the One". Another song that should have been a worldwide hit, but we were the only ones who got to enjoy it because we lived in the metro area. I feel privileged to have been able to enjoy what I consider the best regional music scene ever (my Dad's from Dayton, Ohio and I will bet he would argue that Dayton, not D.C., holds this title. I love that stuff too, Slave, Lakeside, Ohio Players, Roger & Zapp, Dayton, etc.).
Wow, this is the song...I looked forever for this and can't tell you how long it took. I listened to this in D.C. in the eighties on the Quiet Storm and could NEVER figure out who it was. Man...the memories!!!
thanks for posting. Used to hear this opening WHUR back in the 90s. I too didn't know who it was that sang it. Im glad to run in to it today on here as I looked for it before and no one had it. i recently found it on IMEEM and have been listening to it for a couple of months. In order to find the title I just entered into Google "O Mystic Make Don't Hesitate..." etc some of the lyrics that I remembered and walla Scott Jarrett's name popped up. WHUR doesn't always list the names of their songs.
Well, we're DEFINITELY glad to know it and lookin' forward to it! One thing about the folks in this area, they're a VERY picky audience and don't latch on to just ANYONE...but when they DO, they love you for LIFE! I don't wanna make any assumptions about who you are, but looking at your screenmanme, well...I'll just say that we YouTubers love it when the artists come here to chat with us. Keep us posted! :-)
The best song ever made. I'm from dc and Melvin Lindsey made this song famous by ending his radio show with this. Everyone started calling trying to find out who ths guy was. It was the no 1 song in R&B in DC back then
yes, and melvin's voice was so smooth, romatic and put you to ease every night at 7-12 i loved his show! there will never be another:) and I was one of his biggest fans... miss you Melvin

This timeless and rare track is what separates WHUR's Quiet Storm from others. I grew up in the NJ/NYC metropolitan area and listened to WBLS's

for WHUR. WBLS does not play rare classics like this one.

This is the song we danced to at our wedding...our 1st dance. 7/21/07 :-) We met at Howard University and have been together since 03. What a great song.
NgreenMPA 2 years ago
Wow, I heard this on HUR last night too! That's what made me look it up today. I always wanted to know who sang this. What's funny is every time I hear it, it reminds me of when Kermit The Frog sang it on one of the muppets tv special.
I'm going to find the cd!! Thanks for the post!!

If you live in the DC area, try RoadHouse Oldies off of Georgia Ave in Silver Spring. They have eveything. I got this CD and one by Howard Kenney ..."Between The Lines"... another great WHUR Quiet Storm Classic.

No one will ever be able to master the mix like Melvin Lindsay. His masterpiece continues...thank you for your post Odawg96.
Let's make this a great year and century for our kids. We can do it.

Hey, it's ALL good! Thank YOU! Your uncle was the original and best!
Odawg96 3 years ago
@Neosonix

@Neosonix your uncle touched so many people I'm glad to have experienced his love of music on air at WHUR.

Can you find Osiris- Gritt On It? Nasty funk classic that was huge in DC Area circa 1980.
Olskool 3 years ago 2
Osiris. Tyrone Brunson played with that cat. A lot of the older DC-area cats that I know and have played with have those Osiris albums laying around their cribs to THIS day. Osiris is from DC, and I'm guessing YOU are, too because folks outside of the area just don't KNOW about Osiirs.
Odawg96 3 years ago
I found another back-of-the-rack classic from AM/FM on YouTube..."You are the One". Another song that should have been a worldwide hit, but we were the only ones who got to enjoy it because we lived in the metro area. I feel privileged to have been able to enjoy what I consider the best regional music scene ever (my Dad's from Dayton, Ohio and I will bet he would argue that Dayton, not D.C., holds this title. I love that stuff too, Slave, Lakeside, Ohio Players, Roger & Zapp, Dayton, etc.).
herndonhornet 3 years ago
Wow, this is the song...I looked forever for this and can't tell you how long it took. I listened to this in D.C. in the eighties on the Quiet Storm and could NEVER figure out who it was. Man...the memories!!!
herndonhornet 3 years ago
thanks for posting.

Scott Jarrett thanks all of his fans for the support they have shown over the years, especially in the D.C. area. A new CD is currently in the works.
scoeyblanko 3 years ago 6
Well, we're DEFINITELY glad to know it and lookin' forward to it! One thing about the folks in this area, they're a VERY picky audience and don't latch on to just ANYONE...but when they DO, they love you for LIFE! I don't wanna make any assumptions about who you are, but looking at your screenmanme, well...I'll just say that we YouTubers love it when the artists come here to chat with us. Keep us posted! :-)
Odawg96 3 years ago
Thanks. You are on my list.

The best song ever made. I'm from dc and Melvin Lindsey made this song famous by ending his radio show with this. Everyone started calling trying to find out who ths guy was. It was the no 1 song in R&B in DC back then
