We have a 4-4-1-1, with Berbatov BEHIND Rooney. He is not up there alongside Rooney pouncing on every ball. Berbatov is a part of the BUILDUP play, often seen backheeling to Valencia who then gets a free cross in for Rooney who finishes with a header. Berbatov as lone striker -> Bolton away -> 2 goals, 4-0.

the problem is that, whilst he is an amazing touch and is undoubtedly a genius with a football, he is not overly consistent. in many games, he has gone missing and does not try to win the ball back. united fans have backed him loads, but it is frustrating when a 30m+ player fails to track and win the ball back.
he has obviously suffered a loss of confidence and whilst the odd bit of ingenuity is seen, he is overshadowed in this united team compared to tottenham (no offense intended btw).

It is you who labeled him a striker and claim that every striker should score a tremendous amount of goals. But you're wrong. We don't have a 4-4-2 formation when Berbatov is on the pitch. We have a 4-4-1-1, with Berbatov BEHIND Rooney. He is not up there alongside Rooney pouncing on every ball. Berbatov is a part of the BUILDUP play, often seen backheeling to Valencia who then gets a free cross in for Rooney who finishes with a header. Berbatov as lone striker -> Bolton away -> 2 goals, 4-0.

Fletcher was invisible, who is usually anything but invisible. Our possession was utter shit, just like the game against Bayern, in which Rooney played. You cannot say with a straight face that we deserved to win, at most we deserved a draw. Sure, Drogba's goal was clearly offside, but Macheda's goal was clearly handball.
