  • Cool :D The drums are the most different comparing to Hysteria :D

  • @krapticfool

This is ridiculously creepy because I literally was holding it in to listen to this song.. how in the hell?

  • when was this??

  • Chris sounds funny :D

  • @molovesmusic567

The epic Glastonbury 2004 white trenchcoat is my favorite =D

  • what hysteria would've sounded like on the origin of symmetry album?? YES

  • Its freakin' cold out there

  • what year was that?

  • @hrabbipabbi prob 2002

  • Sounds really messy :( But some parts here were great!

  • Chris' vocals are always epic :D And it's also funny it looks like he craps his pants while singing lol

  • @Jarstlord yea, because matt is alway singing out of rythym (in a good way) and he needs to concentrate :D

  • @ZelenaBananaa True that lol

  • Drums on here is definitely better than the finished version. I was never a fan of the drums that are on the album/played not. Too simple and seems a big goofy, imo.

  • @Kenshin11212 Agreed. Guitar is also better here I think. Just the bass is not enough - but yeah, I think they wanted to give Chris a bigger role in this one. So they took the guitar and drums back.

  • 3 people died from excitement and missed the like button

  • hysteria its better :)

  • dude... omg this is awesome!!! when and where was this... i can tell it was way before absolution cause of matts spiky hair and plug in baby-esque outfit :3

  • Comment removed

  • the sound quality isn't too great and well i like Hysteria a lot more like the actual version

  • vocals chris is soo sad xD

  • i like how at the beginning he plays the bass part before launching into the opening riff, and then the solo is the outro

  • for me this version is better:D

  • This song is a mess.

    ...Fucking awesome.

  • God they sound so much better now lol

  • awesome

  • Am I the only one who thinks that the drumming is kinda great here? I mean, it sounds a little more expressive here.

  • Matt is absolutely mad in this version... I like it

  • some how i like this version better

  • The metalcore version XD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like the drums in this one better than the absolution hysteria

  • Just Awesome!!!!!!!!! :)

  • its worth it holding your bladder for hearing muse

  • @krapticfool how many times i try to :D

  • @notcoolt uh, of course :) I'm sorry

  • 0:17 Did Matt kiss that boy?

  • @SirWookash What do you mean? xD

  • @kyu300 I mean - weird backing vocals. But I like it :)

  • Lol, I thought it's guitar, but I was wrong - it is Chris! :O

  • Chris sounds like cat xD

  • LOL i love this version! love the guitar playing the riff with the bass in the begining and the backing vocals :D

  • the verse drumming sounds so similar to the drumming of citizens erased, so does distortion

  • Muse's tranistion period

  • Matts singing seems unhuman:)

  • I just LOVE the backing vocals!

  • i heard a baby bassline crying...XD

  • haha look at the confusion. its like they just cant moved, too amazed with the epic rawness. its like the birth fo hysteria. whoever was there was lucky.

  • Muse need to go back to the good old days when their music was as awesome as this instead of giving us shite like supermassive black hole and starlight at every gig.

  • @mhannah88

they're good songs, it's just the muse evolves, and tries different things. Black Holes and Revelations is an album full of experiments.

  • @mhannah88 agreed, i kinda like supermassive black hole, but starlight is -aside from the clapping along- just plain meh.

  • chris' bvox= win!!! congrats btw chris and kelly

  • Give me complete control, Oh, do you want 'complete contro'l of The Clash?

  • love matt's guitar

  • this one owns!!!!!!

  • I like the other version much more... The dynamic is better and there are more variations. Also... I think this song's chorus is a bit cheesy.

  • This reminds me of Nirvana a lot, still an epic song. I prefer this one, than the hysteria!

  • This version is TOO MUCH BETTER!!! :D

  • WOOHOO AWESOOOOME AAAAAH >........<!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND HE'S GONNA PLAY NEW BORN AFTER THIS X_X

    WOOHOO!!!

    (lol sorry xD)

  • omfg that start is just...jizztastic,....HOLY FUCKING SHIT ALL OF IT IS..ahh this is so much better..but the now hysteria is still amazing

  • Laser Manson! Epic!

  • @SilentSoundsMusic He took delivery of the Laser in 2002,just before Reading that year, and this seems like Reading:P

  • @SilentSoundsMusic ...he's had the manson since origin of symmetry buddy...

  • i don't really like the sound of the drums in this version

  • @SilentSoundsMusic No, he had it previously, check out the musewiki page

  • Muse could have my heart and soul any day of the week....

  • i prefer the original version... but i do make my own beat up to it... so cool beans

  • @PuddleglumOfficial technically this is the 'original' version - the album version is what this turned into...

  • drums dont sound as good on this 1

  • this is awesome...love the changes. its like hysteria 2.0. damn these guys have such good taste

  • @chromezeppelin ....this was before hysteria was recorded for Absolution... this is hysteria 0.5 not 2.0 buddy.

  • I sense a drum kit crashing in 3....2....1

  • I actually like the opening to this version much much better than the original. The drum fill is awesome. The drums overall are alot better in this version... And the hysteria signature riff plays a bigger part in this version. In the present state of the song it dissapears alot.

  • @T3ddisen Drums are nowhere near as polished on this version, they serve then song a lot better in the finalised version

  • @ermelynda93 this was before they named it for the first time

  • no way near as goood lol still sweet tho muse ftw

  • LOVE MATT

  • interesting. i still like the album version better cause the breakdown type riff after the chorus just makes the song for me

  • Hysteria, in any form, is indoubetably one of the most intense songs to ever be played live

  • i actualy prefer this drum beat its more... domlike...

  • i like how in the chorus he says "give me complete control"

  • i wish i had this version on my zune hd... sounds pretty sick

  • So much heavier. But not as good. I think the drum beat kinda threw it off.

  • i prefer this without chris voice..

  • The intro... why was the intro cut away? D: It was awesome! :D

  • They should've kept the backing vocals!

  • Nice...one of my favorite Muse songs before it became the official "Hysteria". I don't think I've ever heard a Hysteria I didn't like, Muse always makes it so awesome live!

  • Luv it

  • Whoaaaaa I love Chris backing vocals in this!!!!!!

  • Chris' tone sounds so much better now than it did here, and they all sound tighter now. Still, for an early concept, they could've done worse.

    I love this band.

  • I still think this intro is better than the pick-slide he does. I've noticed them doing it again in some recent live performances (at KROQ 09), which is good!

  • definitely seeing them at 8pm march 1st (thats today for some of you fuck heads) =)

  • I am glad they rearranged the song into hysteria it sounds better that way

  • The Intro is an EXPLOSION :D

It sounds more energetic than the album version

I prefer this version but the chorus and stanza are muddled eachother. They play the chorus twice in one chorus is awkward.

    ▬▬▬

    MUSE From France

    ▬▬▬

  • Muse is the only band I know of who can perform their song entirely differently at a venue... and make it so great that everyone argues over whether it's better than the original or not.

I love the improvised feel to this!

  • Comment removed

  • some of the alternate lyrics they have for their songs are better, like plug in baby for example

  • Totally awesome the Matt's intro. He played the same at the Seaside Rendezvous last year, in Teignhmouth. Hysteria rocks! Muse owns!

  • Yea Im sure they give a fuck about the drummin on this clip now. Now that this song's a classic

  • new one seems like a good name for hysteria hate me idc (:

  • @YouSWEETube ; Yeeesssss O: he sings that O: u're right

  • Eh, they certainly didn't get the drumming right for this.

  • Where is this gig? I wanna see more from it, cheers :)

  • Rockefeller Music Hall 10th April 2002, i'm not sure at all, but I see that on Musewiki..

  • @YouSWETube If I'm informed pwoperly it's taken from the Rock am Ring gig out of 2002 in Germany. You can download the whole gig at muselive (:

  • haha, pwoperly. thumbs up for that!

  • @Orangiraff24 pwoperly :D hahah

  • Does he say "give me complete controll?"

  • intro for this one is so much better :( :D

  • As completely awesome as this version is, I do like the studio version better. I think they did a good job finishing up the song from the original to be in Absolution

  • "Chris is actually Black. How else would anyone be able to drop such a fat-ass bass line?"

  • Fuckin fav band EVER!!!!!

  • out of sync but still very cool. I think it is even better than the studio-version. Btw, this was in Germany at Rockpalast. Possibly in 2002........

  • Where was this gig?

  • i actually prefer the start to the orignal (where matt plays the bass aswell then it just goes nuts)

  • Haha, yeah i have been for the past 6 months lmao

  • WANKA! lol ;P

  • i agree : D

  • Awesome!! :D

  • =D

    where can i download this?

  • Intro is pretty goddamn awesome, other than that the original is better.

  • This is the original techincally... lol

  • this is the original

  • Yeah guess so, wrote a bit too fast back then, haha.

  • @johndamelio39 lol good call

  • I have to admit, I like the way this version opens a lot bit more. I am such a fan of the opening riff on the guitar too, it is ridiculous.

  • im actually enjoying this a lot

its like old muse playing new muse if you get what im saying?

it seems a lot more raw to me and a lot more powerful than how they play it live now

  • Comment removed

  • This was cool and all that, but in my opinion the final version is a lot better.

  • i love the guitar playing the intro,

    that 's better!

  • haha everyone standing there like wtf

  • this is awesome

  • i think the chorus sounds better without chris vocals

  • I think I like the lyric "give me complete control" better than "last chance to lose control". I don't know why.

    Either way...

    EPIC.

  • The post-chorus is all jumbled up and stuff! :O

  • Yeah man cause the crowd had somehow heard a song that hadn't even been recorded yet. Idiot.

  • O i didn't realise it was the first time they played it.

    i am a idiot haha

  • Haha sorry my comment was super harsh. Way to own up though, man, haha. :p

  • @MistaRowland Hysteria was played live many times before they actually recorded it. It started as just a guitar riff, like some of the heavy riffs they play in between songs nowadays when they play live. Then over time it became a song called "New One" because it didn't have a name. Then, when they recorded it, they called it "Hysteria", when it was released it immediately became a favourite among fans who had seen them live because they were able to recognise it immediately.

  • @Entropify Why are you telling me this? My comment was in response to someone who said that the crowd was probably wondering why they were playing Hysteria so differently.

  • @Entropify plz tell me this can be bought new one not hysteria

  • @MistaRowland muse played stockholme syndrome as a rif back before it was recorded as an album..... so the crowd new that before it was recorded ...

  • @tap675: Not sure what your point is.

  • The audience had never heard Hysteria before this, this was a very early version so I doubt they were thinking that at all.

  • I actually like the intro much better on this one, how Matt plays along to the bass line. Goes better than the pick slide IMO. Loves it!

  • Originally, the bass line was the guitar part. I've always wondered what it would sound like and now I guess I know. And I love it.

  • EPICK

  • LOL@Matt's wrong chord. xD

  • the first ever

  • They could have kept the line "Give me complete control." Fits just as well.

  • I love how the crowd isn't jumping around - you can always tell when a crowd is actually listening to music

  • aw look at chris putting his heart into the bg vocals ! yes we shall soon have The Resistance!!

  • @Museangel87 I really don't think they were thinking that at all...

  • the intro of this version is better then in original... lovely

  • this version is like 1000000000000000000000000 times better i think im actulay in love haha :D:D:D:D:D:D

  • its just better cause its muse live lol.

  • Sounds awsome just like Hysteria

    very refreshing

i love Muse!!! Bring on The Resistance!!!

  • AMAZING BAND....

    GREATLY DONE HYSTERIA....lol

  • the bass is a bit too crunchy :P

  • Chris is wearing Adidas :D

  • wow it´s amazing \m/

  • learn the bass part on guitar, thats just it :)

  • Comment removed

  • that smile at 3:15 soo cute!!

  • Matt is a master, play the riff and sing it is so hard, only he can do that, is impressive

  • I think chris's voice has potential. I'd like to see him turn into a second vocalist rather than a back up

  • I don't think he should replace Matt, but it would be great if he had a lead vocal song on the Resistance.
