Tepeke88, I traveled the U.S. extensively for a couple years. After switching from Sprint to AT&T, I can say from personal experience that AT&T's commercials border on false advertisement. I switched to Verizon and obtained strong signals in airports, elevators and conference rooms where I previously received no bars with AT&T. I do know AT&T coverage is good in South Ca and NYC. However if you claim its better than Verizon, you are evidently one of those creepy iPhone sycophants. Life, get one.

I guess but I had At&t for 2 years before switching. I got really excited over the stupid advertised map that shows Verizon to have more 3g coverage but I found out it was all a bunch o BS! Im sticking with Att for now which, just like Apple said when launching the Iphone, is the company with the BEST coverage and fastest network! Just wait till u see REAL 3g internet on Andriod powered phones by early March! woooooo!
@tepeke88 I have AT&T for 2 years too i living a basement I can't used the iPhone in the screen said no services when i call somedoby CALL FAIL now i have verizon i can use my phone with no problem Verizon have the BEST coverage.
@tepeke88 amen i fell for the verizon 3g map as well BUT ITS VERY VERY SPOTTY. and i got much better service when i had at&t verizons service was way to jumpy. so im switching back to at&t lol
ur statement about verizon 3g coverage is a bunch of BS!!...have u not seen all the verizon phones vs att phones videos on here verizon is much faster and att has THE worst service!!.so many drop calls so u stick with it hahah
@tepeke88 well I get NO ATT coverage where I am but always have full coverage with Verizon so that is bullshit. and i live in a major city where you should get coverage from all carriers but ATT doesn't work there...sprint, t mobile, both good coverage as well
FIrst of all, that update just changed the unlock screen. Second, they should have created an update that added adobe flash player. Third and most important, the Droid is an awesome phone BUT it is on the wrong network. Sure Verizon's has good calling and messaging service but the 3g internet suxxxx!!!! Big time! I used to owned a Droid and by switching from At&t to Verizon I made the biggest mistake ever! There is no better company then At&t. Verizon s 3g internet is hella slow.
Could be true it's very area dependent as far as speed and coverage go. In Los Angeles I get horrible At&t service and 0 to 1 bars at home -- I spend the majority of time on my phones using WiFi as a result. Verizon on the other hand gives me reception everywhere. In terms of 3G speed the fastest I've witnessed was At&t (1600kbps) -- Verizon tops out around 1000kbps for me here. Really it's all about your area.
@tepeke88 I went from att and being a iphone user for almost 3 years now to the verizon with the droid and it has to be the best decision I made in years.
I had dropped calls, 5 or more daily, 1 to 0 bars signal at home. With the droid and the amazing extended network that verizon has I have 5 bars at home and yet to drop a call.
Speed, I cant tell the difference, but I am telling you, for Tucson AZ ATT sucks. I was worth the 700 dollars early cancelation fees to kill all 4 lines on my account.
@tepeke88 At&t? lmao thats funny. My uncle has At&t and my dad has verizon. So when they were together they both decided to send the same exact text at the same exact second. And this is no exaggeration at all. My dad recieved his text from my uncle but my uncle didnt receive his for a few minutes later. It could've been a problem with the signal though so we tryed it again someplace else and I think we even used different phones and the same thing happened.
its not a big deal. if its not, they will update it for you out of the box after activation at the store. worst case, go to settings and tap update firmware. its that simple.
If you ask me, yes, definitely. Actually, it can do alot more than the iPhone. It might not win a design prize for a super cool look or something, but it's just awesome in every other aspect.
I had the same problem with the keyboard not lighting up also. I noticed too that my screen brightness was all the way up. I went into display settings and turned off auto brightness adjustment and turned it back on and it fixed the lighting. Now the backlighting works as it should/did before the update.
Yes restarted the phone first taking the battery completely out did it twice and still I thnk it might be some light sensor became too sensitive and now it turns the KB and soft keys under darker backgrounds just speculating. But I will be sure to let u know Mikegotsmoney what they tell me.
I noticed that now my keyboard lighting does not turn on when I open the slider...it did b4 the update...im goin to talk to verizon bout tht..Also my soft keys on the front dnt light up after i push them when they did b4. Somethin small lik this just drives me nuts. As for everything else browser is quicker. camera time is quick on mine. Just overall great. fixed some bugs.
Have you manually restarted your phone since the update? I was having a problem getting reception, but restarting fixed that. I haven't had any problems with the keyboard lightining up though...
If you purchased the Motorola Droid today it would most likely not come with the update pre-installed, but the update notification would pop up after activating.
As far as browing I use the dolphin browser as my default browser since it has multitouch support and I can't stand double tapping for zooming. I haven't experienced any blank screens on the Droid, but I have had quite a few force close windows pop up while using the messaging app.
does the update brings multitouching?

If I get my phone from the Verizon store next week, will the update be on it already?
ChapmanCousins 2 years ago
Doubtful. If their phones in stock are not made after the update was issued, you will be the one updating it.
Jrrath 2 years ago
Ok, But the ones coming out of the factory are being updated there, correct?

Yeah. I got my droid today, and it was with 2.0. The verizon dude updated it for me though.
