Oh... that looks simple and complicated at both...
Let me suggest:
You have the ID generated on your phone, so nobody can fake it? Then it is only acceptable for a short moment : The moment, when you pay.
So, you have to enable this in your iphone app with starbucks. So on the server are only codes which are able to pay with for a very short moment.
The Code then is coded into a scanable QR.
It's a nice way to keep it simple.
