This video makes no sense at all. It's not meant to be depressing whatsoever.

The song describes how depressing it is to live in a religious nightmare. Then it goes on to defy the chains of religion, despite possible consequences, and accepting those consequences, validating the choices of going against religion.

It in fact makes you feel you can safely and responsibly stand above any religious indoctrination and be free !
