I liked it when it first started; it was more about the accidents & patients. Then it turned all P-C & just evolved around the fraternizations & relationships of the staff. I guess the BBC Realised that sexing it up would appeal to the female [& larger] audience. Like what's happened to Doctor Who now. In the end, everything will just be identical for the sake of profit, & the girl's daily fix of misery, hatred, infidelity, calumny, tragedy, sordid backbiting, innuendo, carnal glamour & pride.

I used to LOOOVE Casualty when I was little (like 3 or 4), I'd always watch it - until there was this episode where this little boy was banging a toy sword or something against a grating or something while in a lift, got caught, and pretty much had his arm yanked off.

I remember this as a kid,before Casualty became a soap, reflecting the NHS under the Tories,who hated how accurate the series was and often had a go at the BBC for allowing the writers to criticize the Thatcher/Major governments. Music is fab, proper series endings. Waiting until the next year to find out the resolve to the cliffhanger.Now it is shit. Actually from about 1996 onwards.

Like so many other drama series, they start out as being very fresh and interesting to watch, but as the years roll by, various cast members move on and are replaced and scripts get weaker and weaker, until it reaches a point where the only thing which defines it from any other soap/drama is the setting. The same happened with the likes of The Bill, London's Burning, etc. which began well, but became very watered down in their later years.
