There is not Greek-Italian dialect. That is impossible.Griko in Italian or Grekanika in Greek is a greek dialect, spoken by a small part of Italians in the very far end of Italian peninsula:in Salento and in Calabria. The Italian parliament has recognized the Griko community of Salento as an ethnic and linguistic minority, under the name of "Minoranze linguistiche Grike dell'Etnia Griko-Salentina" (linguistic minority of the Griko-Salentinian ethnicity)

Hah! One keeps on learning all of his life. I'm a translator from Italian and I had never heard of such a minority. But in fact there is a distant reminscence of the Sardinian dialect in this language or to Portuguese which is more or less the same. :)
yes there is a minority... everyone call it minority... but that is not a greek minority from the modern greek... that is a survived minority that have lived in calabria and puglia for centuries. Many words of the Griko (the language we are speaking about) come directly from the ancient greek!!
:)))) So the second voice is her voice again assembled in a studio? A simpler version of what Freddy Mercury did in Bohemian Rhapsody? :))) By the way, I understand very little Greek but the Greek in the song sounds unusual to me. Is it some dialect?
I had answered this but had to remove it due to misfunctions with the display of the comments.
I thought Galani - with no doubt one of the greatest Greek singers - was doing the second voice. Actually, listening very carefully to the song, I can tell Alexiou is doing both voices.
In this album a great majority of the songs are sung by both these wonderful singers, but also some songs are sung by Alexiou alone, others by Galani alone.
I have to disagree. I can hear the tibre of Galani's voice who also has a characteristic vibrato: it's actually a more quick vibrato, some call it tremolo. The younger she is in recordings the more obvious it is.This recording was, if I remember correctly, in the early-mid 80's. Listen closely when the 2 voices hold a note a little bit longer and I think it's clear that that the 2 voices have different vibrato... In any case it is a beautiful interpretationof the song.
Actually I don't hear Galani's vibrato. Anyway, I wanted to make really sure about this. I got the new edition of this album with full booklet. Dimitra Galani is not mentionned as second voice in this song.
As you say, it is a beautiful song and the whole album is worth listening.
Indeed, the whole album has become I think a time classic.
Although it is not much of a big deal, I just want to point out that the fact that Galani is not mentioned in this song in the booklet is probably because she has a small part in this song as for example Alexiou has in the "Ela mazi mou", where she does the 2nd voice but she is not mentioned. When the 2 voices have "equal" roles, as in the song "OXI DEN PREPEI", then both names are there.
If I have the chance, I may ask Galani herself...!! A close friend of mine is a frined of her's and a couple of times we have been in the same place. If this happens again I'll ask her. Till then I think it's really nice that we love songs so much to pay such close attention! Take care...

The second voice belongs to Dimitra Galani, like Alexiou a well-known and respected Greek singer with an extraordinary talent for harmonies

It's a greek-italian dialect spoken by the people living in the greek-speaking villages
in southern-Italy (in the region of Calabria).
