I'm all for space exploration, but what we really need is to develop advanced technologies to make getting to space routine and cost-effective. If the US went back to the Moon in the next few years, it would be using outdated technology and it would be heinously expensive. Meanwhile, the European Space Agency is well on their way to developing the Skylon space plane, which will render rocket technology obsolete by putting payloads and people into space for 1/10 of the current cost.
I would love to see efforts to reach the moon again; they did it in the 1960's when this nation had some of it's most difficult days. Humans, by nature, are explorers and it's sad that society has lost that enthusiasm to discover, it's all about money now. For people to pursue education in the STEM field it would put the US back in place of being a nation of pioneers, few people understand the significance of that. The Moon has most everything needed for life. Water, fuel and breathable air can easily be extracted from the surface. Eventually, large segments of space stations or spacecraft can be manufactured and cheaply lifted off of the surface.
It's unlikely that ores would be sent from The Moon to Earth. Novelty items like 'Moon rocks' would sell for a pretty penny, though.

Should have happened 40 years ago. Many can remember people buying tickets from Pan Am to be the first to travel to the moon. A moonbase would be the stepping stone to exploring other planets and eventually the Universe (Science). The Moon has most everything needed for life. Water, fuel and breathable air can easily be extracted from the surface. Eventually, large segments of space stations or spacecraft can be manufactured and cheaply lifted off of the surface.
It's unlikely that ores would be sent from The Moon to Earth. Novelty items like 'Moon rocks' would sell for a pretty penny, though.

Should have happened 40 years ago. Many can remember people buying tickets from Pan Am to be the first to travel to the moon. A moonbase would be the stepping stone to exploring other planets and eventually the Universe (Science). Not to mention the thousands if not millions of jobs it would create and encouraging young people to pursue science . Many new technologies (Carbon fiber technology to name one) was a result of the space program. So why do liberals hate real science so much?

It is why we no longer live in caves wearing wolf skins. Pollution is what happrns when the law disrespects property rights. In the case of an automobile the issue comes down to the practical question of enforcement. If the polluter is in a car he may be gone before before I can fix blame on the driver. But,such a practical problem is always to be dealt with where crimes exist. It does not change the nature of the offense as one against private property.
